BAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!. Yeah!!! He actually does say "Fucking freebird" you can hear him say it under his breath in the mic. HAHAHA!!! That shit is fuckin hilarious.
This whole show... minor fuck ups or not... His voice was seriously more on point than any of his other live recordings, ever. I watch these all the time mainly for his voice. He LOOKS strong as can be too... I'm sure this is a false claim. Maybe not sober, but very strong
@hillman175 freebird is a song by lynyrd skynrd, and it is, for whatever reason, kind of a concert stigma to shout it out as a song request, regardless of genre or performer. i don't know why it's like that but it is. of course, in this case, it's a joke from the fan, and elliott responds with the offhand "fuckin' freebird..." because he's taken back by the fact that someone said it at his show.
No he doesn't transpose things through different keys and tunings at all. He plays songs in the keys and tunings he wrote and recorded them in. He has his guitar tuned two semitones down most of the time, and uses a capo to get up to standard and other keys if he needs to. He will also drop the two E strings down two semitones for some songs (Satellite, Roman Candle etc). And he will go down to open C tuning for some songs (Independence Day, See You Later etc). When he played live he would just change his guitar tuning between songs if the next song was in a different tuning.
Lol dude, chill out. No need to get testy just because you have nothing useful to offer to the conversation. Have fun being difficult. I'm sure it's working out great for you.
Does anyone know in which way(s) elliott was in to the occult. To me it seems he obviously was. He seems to have believed in a type of pre-ordained destiny, especially for himself.
"Freebird" - some guy who thought he was really funny. That song sucks, and people who yell it are generally the types who have the personality of warm beer.
This is seriously a completely flawless performance. I actually like it better than the album version in many ways.
stella performance elliott.
"you only live a day. but its brilliant anyway"
thank you for making music and being you. RIP brother.
fan: "freebird"
elliott: "fucking freebird" *shakes his head*
He had a sense of humor though
0.28 - 0.37 is fkin perfect. Awesome disdain. Great performance.

Beautiful performance.
I just found it and I'm in love! What a gem! ❤
I love him 😭
I've been watching this video for 15 years.
i think his live playing is at its peak here..

IS there some way to get rid of that horrible short delay? Although it makes the end part soudn good
Popularly requested song of pretty much any band ever that was written by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
@AxlsSpermy can you explain me what the fan and elliott means with "freebird" and "fucking freebird" from elliott?
please....
(i´m german ^^)
Fan yelled Freebird which is a famous song from Lynyrd Skynyrd. I guess Elliot doesnt like Freebird or that band
@@ishaanmalhotra3008no it's cause free bird is a common yell at shows, mainly cuz of the long guitar solo. Even nirvana got it yelled before
I can’t believe some drunk idiot yelled out freebird while Elliott Smith was starting the last song of his set 😔
Kind of legendary actually if he wasn’t being serious. Still a dick move though
@@DSPsWifesBFI think it’s sad though cause he was totally crushing it. Thankfully he didn’t let it throw him off completely but
what did she say? something about losing
I think he said "fuck a freebird." Which is even funnier
Bye man, see you soon ...
Hallejulia
how can you not know Freebird?
Wait this song is in open C tuning.. which means he probably converted all of his songs to open C just for this gig? Fuck. *quits music*
Joey Taylor Nah, he just tunes his guitar between songs.

We're talking about him playing live aren't we? What are you on about.

Lol try not to have a breakdown on your way out the door. Lighten up friend. No hard feelings.

I feel like thats a massive assumption
