The Biden-Harris Administration Celebrates Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month) 2024

On the first day of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month) in February 2024, the U.S. Department of the Interior released new guidance to honor and elevate Hawaiian language. Developed collaboratively and informed by ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi practitioners, instructors and advocates, the guidance emerged from virtual consultation sessions and public comment in 2023 with the Native Hawaiian community.
On February 21, 2024, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders hosted a virtual celebration of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and a briefing on the guidance, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Interior.
