This video is great. A solid win! So many are "We shut down some accounts and wasted dozens of hours of their time!" There's nothing wrong with that, in fact much good, but to see an operation actually shut down is so refreshing and wonderful! Answered an ad on Craigslist, $4400 for a used motorcycle. Get to the dealership that had the USED bike, and they wanted to charge me $5k, out the door. After I informed them of how Craigslist works, and their refusal to take $4400, they got to keep the bike. Found out they had paid too much at auction for the bike, plus paid to have it shipped to their shop, so they were trying to recoup their mistakes. This was in Durham, NC.

Canada supports scammers. I came across a “legitimate” scam being run by the Bank of Canada and Equifax. If you pay them it may improve your credit rating. No guarantee though.
You are such a stand up dude. You could have made simple content on this one wasting the guys time but you went above and beyond for these folks. props to you Kit for going that extra mile
I agree. But the growth of well known sites like CarMax and Cravana that promote selling cars sight unseen, is making people more used to buying cars sight unseen. Doing it from them is probably safer than from random smaller sellers, but it’s still better to see it in person if you can.
I'm sorry but to me that seems logical. Fancy sending so much money for something you have never seen!! Also practically how does that work? First you need to sight it. Test drive it. Take it to the mechanic etc. How does that work if you are buying a car online? 🤔

The fact that these hosts would ONLY respond to a twitch streamer with millions of viewers was the MOST infuriating part of this. These people tried to do it on their own and were IGNORED. The people who are SUPPOSED to support and protect them ignored them. Unacceptable.
Seems like a boycott of New Fold Digital is in order, yes? If they won't protect their "customers" from scams, then they don't deserve to have any customers.
Easy to be critical if you don't think about it too much. But without some kind of formal legal order to shut down a site, it's difficult for a host to validate all of this themselves. How are they supposed to validate what's real vs what's scam re: contact phone number, etc to even reach out to the business and see if it's a legit site? Honestly the last thing you want is for a host to be too reactive to requests like this lest competitors start getting in touch with hosting companies requesting legit sites be shut down.

Dear Kit, I love your videos. On my last birthday, I got a call on my land-line and I thought it was my grandma calling to wish me a happy birthday, as she had done every year prior, but in actually it was just a robot scam call. Youre doing a good deed helping this guy. The local town i work at has a realtor scam going around. I fell for it myself included. Coming across as a legit realtor company in the area. We need more people like you cracking down on these scammers.
If an Indian, Pakistani or African accent contacts me and I have zero knowledge of why they are calling, then I always assume they are almost definitely scammers. This system has never let me down yet.
The best thing people can do is NEVER send money for something you can’t touch or see right in front of you!! Thank you for all of your hard work exposing these scammers🌻
I don't know if this is possible anymore, but back in time, when I started buying things online, I always made a pay by receive the first time, which means, when I had the package in my hand the payment went through. By doing this with a few online companies, I then had sort of a reputation for them, that they're reliable, and those of them which exist today, I still use. It's convenient to buy online, but I stick to those I have confirmed work, never buy at a new place. This means there are deals I will not get, but it also means, the probability of being scammed is very low. Either that, or I go to the physical store and place an online order there if possible. It's very hard to have a physical store and run a fake online service.

Glad to see a video on this! Someone did this kind of scam with my dads small company. They set up a website where they pretended to be a seller for some construction equipment under my fathers name/ company. We only found out because they didn't answer their calls and some of them found my dads real number and called him, asking to buy the stuff.

Im SO thankful im such a suspicious person because I'm quite sure we almost got scammed with a wire transfer, one dealership lied about 2 accidents on another car. We ended up finding one in the state and its been perfect so far. Im so sad for people that get scammed like this. That $11k was so much for us...

back in the early 2000s, my dad almost fell for a car scam where the seller was 'in the military' and selling the car after being transferred. I told him in no uncertain terms don't send anyone money, that you need to see the car in person, and only deal with the person listed on the title.

My Dad had a partner called Kit in the customs that had a bad car accident, my Dad took me to see him before he passed on, he told when I was about 6 that he was a real hero. He told me as an adult he had been beaten up by some of the 20 odd bad cops they had both then taken down involved in drugs.
Any website that refuses to take down scam listings should be forced to repay all the people who were scammed. Maybe if they were held accountable this would stop. Oh and they have all the scammer’s information. They need to turn that over to the authorities.
yeah its hard to see how carfax doesn't have some liability here. Allowing scams to remain up lends them legitimacy because of the carfax brand, they should at least be liable for victims after the scams were reported and for not verifying the authenticity of the dealerships listings - if they just take everyone at their word what good are they, ironic that their name implies car "Facts".

I just cannot believe that people do this for purchases of this caliber.
