    Dude...This is amazing. I have watched a countless number of surfing tutorials and this is by the far the best. Just purely epic. You managed to put a lifetime of knowledge into a little 40 minute video. How this video only has '727' likes I will never understand...This is top quality for both beginners AND advanced riders. You are an awesome teacher. Keep this up. Rooting for this channel to get bigger!!!

    I'm going out for my first time solo next week! I took a lesson and absolutely loved it. Like the other comments said, the surf lessons you just get pushed around and learn pop up. There isn't a lot explained to you. This video has really given details and a lot of really good stuff for a beginner to know. Thanks so much man!

      @@TheSurfersJourney My coach was really good, giving me feedback on every single wave. I'll be seeing him weekly to improve my skills faster, while I practice daily during the week. I caught many waves with him pushing me, but I was also able to catch waves on my own the day after. That was my first surfing experience. I'm in Sayulita, Mexico

    Mega epic tutorial, great upload...would like to see more detail on floaters and re-entry,s, The types of boards you would attempt them on. How to progressively work towards them, in particular the risks, how to avoid them and how to avoid injuries...great stuff man.

    Amazing to watch the small changes in foot position, even for setting a rail for a turn. Also, interesting to see the inside hand position on takeoff, which is sometimes grabbing the rail, while the outside hand is on the deck to change weight distribution. Tiny details like this... crazy valuable for beginner like myself. Thank you so much for this video. Gives me a lot of different things to try.

    Cheers mate! im just starting out, had a lesson a week ago, picked it up quick so far, moved to the coast (cornwall) but one thing ive noticed, my ribs are absolutely killing after only surfing 4 times, also got my own board

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, nice work! It could be something to do with your paddling position and potential lack of core engagement (for more info check out one of my paddling tutorials), are you wearing a wetsuit or anything?

    • @paulhoulden
      @paulhoulden 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSurfersJourney I do wear a wetsuit, but thinking of it, its a scuba wetsuit, 3mm all around so maybe a surf wetsuit might be a bit more padded in the chest? since my comment, the pain has subsided to 1 small area, I've surfed once but man it hurts! i had to cut my climbing session short yesterday! ill check out the paddling techniques now, but i think you could be right with the lack of core engagement, cheers for the reply dude

    Should I start my bottom turn right from my pop up or wait until I’m going down the line? Is the speed from the drop in detrimental to the bottom turn?

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the wave, so there is no set rule. It all comes down to speed. In some cases you can bottom turn straight from takeoff, however sometimes you need to generate speed first, and then bottom turn.

    • @TheSurfersJourney
      @TheSurfersJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you think there is a chance of hitting someone, then only perform turns that you know you can complete. Stay in control of your board and be aware of those around you.
