One of the things undeniable about the Sri Lanka trip is the hospitality, kindness of the people, and curiosity about getting to know you. Vlogging is not my whole life, so there are days I do not record anything that is where the best interactions happen. So what you see in my videos is just a small part of kindness you see. I am very grateful for you guys welcoming me to the country with open arms and supporting what I love doing. This video is another proof of the high level of hospitality in this country - where people are letting me in their shops, showing me things where normally even locals are not allowed to enter, and explain me their food and culture. Enjoy another video from Sri Lanka and do not forget to leave your comments. I cannot reply to all but you can be sure, I read all of them. Davud Machan
Brother Davud I am with you on the fact that vlogging should not be one's sole travel intention. In a way the times you don't hold a GoPro may liberate you to blend with the locals more freely and in an unobtrusive manner. Thanks for sharing your observations and feedback about Sri Lanka and its people and places. We appreciate you being here and sharing your travel experiences with the world. Sri Lanka needs more like you who are open to seeing and willing to talk about the positives despite a few challenges travellers may face while being here. In that sense we salute you sir!
Davud, nice to hear that you're close to where I am living. Haldummulla is the place I am living in. Enjoy your visit. There are nice places as well as nice people. If I had known you are Bandarawela I would have invited. Have a safe journey. 🙏✌😁
Amazing video. By the way , jaggery is pure unrefined sugar made naturally from the sap of the kithul tree.kithul is only found in sir Lanka and south India.it is slow release carbohydrate is much better that white sugar and most brown sugars. Welcome people from Azerbaijan.
Brother, if you can, visit the rural areas too..It will be a new experience ... Everyone in Sri Lanka loves you for your kindness and friendliness with Sri Lankans Thank you I am a Sri Lankan from Dubai🇱🇰🇦🇪💐🙏
It is amazing how you interact with people 😍 and I agree this is not a typical vlog but there's something different here. Your experiences have become ours and make us wait to have another one with you..💫
Hey Davud thank you for visiting my birth place bandarawela, I live in dubai since a decade, it’s absolutely wonderful that you’re showing us the positivity of the Srilankan people once again thank you 🙏
I'm a Sri Lankan🇱🇰 .I'm starting to watch your videos recently🌝 .You've presenting a beautiful program 🎊.So I suggest you go to the Northern Province of Sri Lanka as well. There you will be able to experience a lot🌅. You will be able to experience a lot due to the cultural diversity of the area, the diversity of lifestyle, the variety of food and drink and the natural beauty. I wish you all the best for your future.🌼✨️
@@shenya3563 super friendly sri lankan people .my two sons and I went to Jaffna by luxury night bus. We arrived at 4.30 am. The boys were so welcoming and the bus ride was the most comfortable I have had. I used to be coach driver in the UK.
I am glad that you use Sri Lanka and Ceylon interchangeably. It shows your people are mature and not hung up on the past like some other former colonies who blame their failings on colonialism rather than their own bad decisions. I also like Davud's videos which show the real daily life of Sri Lankan people. I wish the Sri Lankan people an end to bad government, the attainment of peace, and great prosperity.
Davud, Great video of Bandarawela my birth town. The taylors name was 'Cyril Rajapakse'. The 'elephants' on your T shirt stands for 'Strength'. That was a unexpected stumble in to the Grinding Mill store. Your eyes must have burned with the chili dust. Paris is great salesman, he saw the opportunity and took it, great ambassador. 😂 Hope you enjoyed your tea☕ safe travels🙏 Mano 🌹(Baltimore USA, originally from Sri Lanka)
The tea will be good. The spices the man showed you in the tea shop were cardamom and clove. Fragrant spices rather than hot ones! If you do not like very hot dishes then the milder ones will be yellow, and be sure to fish out the green chillies. Dhal is usually a good choice for a mild curry. Jaggery is the palm sugar from the kithul tree, made by rendering down the syrup from tapping the liquid from the tree a bit like the way maple syrup is made in Canada, but a different type of tree. If you haven’t tried it yet you should try curd with kithul honey. It is like yoghurt but only keeps for a day, so very fresh. Usually made with buffalo milk. If you buy some jaggery it is a sugar that will keep almost indefinitely, often it comes as a ball shape wrapped with leaves. You may have eaten a wonderful desert a bit like a solid custard at the wedding you went to. It is called watelappan, and is a Moslem delicacy that everyone in SL loves. Glad you got your bag fixed, it’s a great country for that kind of thing.

That sugary stuff called Jaggery is made by honey from Kithul tree (like one of palm trees). Original jaggery do not sugar added. It is sweet like sugar. Toddy (like an alcoholic local drink) also made from kithul tree as well as coconut tree. Enjoy your exploring in SL. Cheers bro👍🏻
