- After a chance meeting in a Lincoln building society, Frankie Carchedi never looked back as he entered the world of motorcycle racing under the guidance of the great Colin Wright. Three BSB titles, multiple WorldSBK race wins, a MotoGP championship with Joan Mir and Suzuki before moving to Gresini Racing and helping Fabio di Giannantonio to his maiden MotoGP victory at Qatar last season. 2024 holds a different proposition for Frankie as 6-time MotoGP World Champion, Marc Marquez, joins the Gresini family under his watchful eye. This is Frankie's story and it's absolutely fascinating...

Was lucky to spend a flight back with Frankie. A totally great guy. Super humble and down to earth.
This is the best bike podcast channel by far. The last few have been particularly good.
High praise indeed, thank you so very much Peter. Hopefully the next few shows will make the same impressions for you, we're certainly doing our best :-)
Best guest I have ever seen. Fascinated from beginning!
High praise! Thanks so much, Phil 🙏🏼
Fantastic guy, certainly at the top of his game, and great to hear his insights.
Brilliant session with Frankie, great history with Ducati!!!!
Thank you so much :-)
Great interview guys just been glued to this one great work Dave fantastic opportunity to hear from Frankie would just love to hear more from him but I am sure that's a tall order once the season starts superbly done Dave.Well done the team and Frankie 👌👍
Thanks so much, CM! It'll be difficult to get him during the season unless we get accepted for Accreditation for MotoGP at Silverstone, and if we do, we'll ask the question of the team for sure ;-)
utterly fabolous.
superb job.
Thank you Emanuele 🙏🏼
With all the expertise and ability we have in this country it is a disgrace that we dont have british teams with an eye on getting brits to motogp.
Appreciate your comment, but isn’t that exactly what MLav’s team is set up to do? There are a lot of things that need to align for a rider to make it to MotoGP and that’s more and more prevalent as the years roll by. Also the age limit hasn’t helped, as it’s meant the likes of Eddie O’Shea and Casey O’Gorman have to wait 2 or 3 seasons longer than they would have previously, pushing for their chance in Moto3.
A domestic championship based on production bikes, as it the way with every domestic series, has never directly helped and with the way Italy and Spain are set up for their Junior Riders I suspect it’ll be a while before we see a British MotoGP rider of Cal Crutchlow’s standard, and they certainly won’t follow the same route from WSSP to WorldSBK to MotoGP as he did.
@OffTrack_Podcast all great points! From the outside, it's just so frustrating seeing our british lads hardly getting a look in.
Do you think the cost saving measures taken in bsb, no electronics etc is creating an even bigger barrier to being given opportunities at the world stage as it adds another layer of learning to any potential move?
@@TheGoldenPig. Yeah I’ve said it on the show a couple of times, BSB makes for exceptional racing but is it a foundation for MotoGP race winners? Probably not. Brad Ray admitted he didn’t find it easy to just to WorldSBK electronics last season - going from Motec with next to no rider aids to Magneti Marelli that has ALL the whistles and bells is a huge jump. Same coming back to BSB from WorldSBK, it takes some adjustment. As for the younger generation, let’s see what comes over the next two seasons to see if the Road to MotoGP is straighter than it currently looks… 🙂
I think LCR Castrol is half British team...
Thanks D! Never heard of Frankie before but clearly been behind the scenes supporting some very famous drivers. Great insightful interview
Thanks Adrian, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, he’s been with some great guys over the years - he definitely got the Golden Ticket 🎫
Love this interview. We're heading to Round 7 at Mugello and it looks like Frankie's plan is working. Good Luck the rest of the season Frankie!
Thank you so much for your kind words and have an amazing weekend 🇮🇹
Worked with Frankie in 2014,2015 and 2016 stepped away from it all after 2018.
Some good nights and days racing, sure do miss it all
No surprise you miss it, Thomas! Appreciate the comment 🙌🏼
amazing story ,
Cheers Andy, thanks for watching 😊
That was very interesting😊
Glad you think so, DS! And thank you :-)
Around 26 minutes Frankie starts talking about tire pressures in MotoGP, and I feel they should do away with all this pressure limits and design tires that can operate under the complete range of pressures. It's taking away from racing and making it too complicated. Great interview.
You forgot to ask about speeding tickets
Did he not tell the story of the speeding tickets in the show? Or are there more?! 😂
The 3rd at mallory was the gowla 👍✔️. Easy podium 😂😂
That's the one! The older I get the worse my memory hahaha thanks, Warren!
@OffTrack_Podcast mine is heading much the same way dave. Miles are on the clock now 😂😂. Just we have the pot in the bait room. Said it was just skittles & I will just slip on by everyone. Didn't expect the result to stand
