- This was quite a surprise. I wasnt' expecting to get to Budapest and see the "TISZA" pulling in. I had only seen these old Russian and Ukranian sleeper cars in pictures in the internet, I was thrilled to get to see them live.
Since the charts were written in Russian I couldn't quite figure out the destination for each car, but the first three blue ones up front are Hungarian and come from Záhony, the 4th and 5th come from Csap.
Then it gets really complicated (at least for me). Some come from Kiev and Moscow and end the trip in Budapest. But some others continue on to Belgrade and Zagreb.
The entire train was pulled out of the staion a few minutes later and I guess once on the yards they do all the splitting and coupling.
This is great train. I've been on it twice, once from Budapest to Lvov and another time from Budapest to Kiev, a marathon 26 hour trip.
There are a few carriages for Moscow, two or three for Kiev and one only for Lvov.
On certain days of the week the train has a through carriage from Moscow to Belgrade or Zagreb. These are detached at Budapest and attached to another train to complete the journey.
When i was a child i travelled with my mother from italy to moscow. There was a coach from Rome to Moscow and back. The first part of the trip was on a train to Budapest, and then with the train in the video to Moscow. There are no more trains from italy directly to Hungary; it's so sad.
Ahh!! I am trying to book Kiev to Budapest in September- the internet has little information about where to book in advance!
It was so long then... Hungary's longest train. I wish it could run today
A parte del material español, mis preferidos son los coches rusos.
Az utolsó kocsi honnan érkezett?
