  • The Washington Commanders opened its 2023 season on Sept. 11 with a home game at aging FedEx Field and WUSA9 has new information about the team’s search for its next home.
Sources say the Commanders front office considered a second D.C. site in its search for a new stadium. One which would be an alternative to historic RFK, and an option never revealed publicly.

Ngl , I would like to see the stadium built in the same architecture style as the Lincoln memorial or something like that. Like with big ass pillars on the outside

Poplar Pointe is a great spot! It's right off the river, right off the freeway, and it's right across the river from the baseball stadium! It would be a great view in that spot, too! I'm not sure about parking, but nonetheless, it's perfect! That's a spot where you'd expect to see a stadium. Most other cities have all their stadiums right next to each other, and this would be the same at Poplar Pointe. RFK is cool, too, but it's not a typical spot for a stadium, even though it was there at one point. Poplar Point is right next to downtown SE, and is an area that's already used to high traffic, due to the other two stadiums! It would even be nice if there were enough space to put the basketball and hockey stadium over there as well!

Also a half mile from the Anacostia Metro station. Might be close enough to walk to or see if they could run a free shuttle from Anacostia to the Stadium.

It’s supposed to be at Potomac Yard where it was originally planned. The el cheapo strip shopping center comes down and no tears will be shed. The beautiful river views will put DC sports back in the national spotlight. Metro is already there with new Crystal City nightlife. Smart growth: Big projects like stadiums have to be built where the infrastructure already exists. Save the open space. Save the Bay!

I live near Fed-Ex and I hope that the Commanders leave. It's not as bad as it used to be since less people go to see games, but when game day happens, traffic sucks. Try to go buy groceries and run errands on game day is a hassle. Let DC or VA take it. PG would be happy to take that land back and build townhomes and a town center in it's place.

This is a no-brainer traffic infrastructure A spot where boats can pull up national Harbor is your spot… this team is going to do the dumbest thing ever blow $1 billion in Dumphries Virginia where no one wants to come to .. They need to listen to their fans for once .. I $bill down the drain.. Plus if you go national harbor the NFL an event and concert promoters would love it !!! I’m going to Dumphries to the concert yeah right😂🤣😂..
