Ha,Ha,Ha! I used the tach on my old K10 to figure what mph too. I loved my old 4 spd, short box. Sure do miss it. I’ll have me another one day. This reminded me of driving mine. RIP my old Chevrolet.😢
My first car was an 84 K10 (in my thumbnail), back in 2002. Before smartphones and apps, I had to figure out the math for speed given tire size, axle ratio, and gear (4th being 1:1). Had all the speeds written in 10mph increments on the top of the windshield. I absolutely love that z-bar clutch and SM465. I greatly enjoy mechanical over hydraulic clutch.
@@majorwoody1720 I'm excited for you. It should be easier to drive since they went to hydraulic clutch in 85. It's great way to learn and a solid first car.
Just get a radar detector with GPS and displays your speed accurately I have a couple of square body’s with inline 6 cyl and to keep up with the crowd I installed advanced adapters overdrive now I can cruise at 75 with 2k rpm
do you know what rear gears you have in there? i have a set of 3.08 axles to use. im trying to make it so low is useable and 4th works more like an overdrive
not knowing what your driving cant really answer that. once you drive your vehicle and get used to it you will be able to figure it out pretty quick. but can be harder on the clutch
@@Revvedupmontana do you know what would be wrong with a quadrajet that only bogs off idle but then runs fine, or what I can do without rebuilding it, I think that’s my problem trying to start it in 2nd.
Nothing like a v8 manual!! Sounds good brother!
thank you. its going to be sticking around for a bit happy wife and all lol

My first vehicle will hopefully be a 85 k2500 with the 292 inline 6 and sm465. I’m going to look at it this weekend and test drive it. I’m excited

If u want a family truckster, get a police Tahoe! At least it will be a little bit cool!

Nice truck.
I love mine too.
But everyone has to admit, the truck and driver are just craving that 5th gear.
that's the truth
65 @ 3000? I'm guessing with those tires that you've got 4.10's.

3.73's did I video on it. And thanks for watching
What gearing in the axels ?
dont remember i did a video on it though. That truck is long been sold.
Any advice to help a newbie be able to start in 2nd instead of first gear
