@@N0b0dyh3re that is what I imagine being the moment a being like Thanos shitting himself at the sheer strength and power of this man. Considering ed literally has jumped out into space and came back.

Leaving only Ed, Edd N Eddy standing in battle against eddy brother for the true threat. The rest of the kids beaten down witnessing the Eds bravery to save them from the wrath of eddy brother. Leading to the final battle where eddy is alone standing to face his brother to save all his friends where all his friends are witnessing his growth. Sorry just getting anime chills writing this 😂

From Ed dropping a pebble into his shoe, Eddy turning into Professor Scam, Jimmy using the boomerang as his power-up.. This is pure perfection. Utter, pure perfection. **Chefs Kiss.**
I also thought that would have been a way to make himself overwhelmingly stronger via the pebble technique, I really like the way it was showcased here too. Sure it's berserker like, but it is very much A MASSIVE AMP. Or maybe... He doesn't need the pebble maneuver, Ed might master a newer form of Conceptually Jawbreaking proportions sometime after.
The level of detail and callbacks to such minute moments in random episodes that only those who grew up and saw every single episode will get. Thank you for this epic piece of art.
Hi, sorry for being off topic. I'm an aspiring animator and I've recently released a Fallout New Vegas animation that took me 5 months to do, but TH-cam doesn't promote my videos so I have to do it myself. I'd be glad if you come and have a look:)
Making eddy brother a plot armor villian so obvious but genius at the same time makes it classic by not showing too much but making him look formidable
Eddy' brother is the bad guy you think is a good guy villain, just like how the TV show treated him since Eddy idolized him. Since he appears at the end smiling in the sun's gaze it's more like a "I'm not needed here" thing. There was never a bigger redemption for the kankers than them beating the crap out of his brother, but it did kind of establish that Ed's only beat the cankers and Johnny out of pure luck. XD
1:29, the way they briefly teased Eddy's big brother like how some animes show u a bunch of op antagonist (here its the kankers) at the start of the opening fighting the main characters and they briefly show the real evil mastermind without overdoing so to avoid spoilers is just perfect here
I imagine he would help out the Cul-de-sac kids take out the Kankers as revenge for what they did to him at the end of the Ed, Edd n Eddy picture show then turn on the Cul-de-sac to get revenge on them too
The opening shot of the cul de sac with all the destruction was pretty clutch. The sequence of Lee Kanker going THROUGH the house was both the most anime moment, but also 100% part of the show. Even if it was never in an episode.
@@Xylospring I legit loved that moment, it showed even though they get tired of eddy's constant shit they know hes still human like anyone else and shouldn't be treated that way by a family member of all people.
@@raykin9708 He spoke about his brother during the show with so much reverence and in reality, it was closer to fear due to the physical abuse and he was in constant denial. Kinda highlights abusive family relationships a bit. It made them realize why he did what he did and it was similar to children trying to appeal to abusive parents. Looking into it, all of the Ed Edd n Eddy characters suffer some form of abuse. Ed is usually stuck in his basement because his mental faculties and pushed around by his own family, Edd is under constant pressure by his OCD parents and never sees them, we already know about Eddy. I could go on about the rest and I'm sure the Creator never meant to have that kind of messaging for the cast, but here we are.
@@Maniacman2030 You thinking too much.🙄 I'm gonna be honest, it's one of the worst movie i ever saw. we talk about eddy's brother the entire time for just see him like what? 3 min? 5? no 5 it's too much. Sure he was "playing" with Eddy leg, smashed Edd with Eddy, but frankly we saw worst in the original serie, specially the scene where eddy cry when he understand what he did was wrong, we can see that ALL the time in the show, that how most of the episodes end in fact. One door slap and that "mythical" character is over, so disappointing, all the kids was ready to help them and that how they decide to end it, with a simple door gag... so much potential ruined. One of the rare movie who make me upset after watching it. 2/10.😥
The Story: After losing his life long companion Plank, Jonny dawns the title of The Gourd once more seeking revenge on the Ed boys/Kids of the Culdesac. Allying himself with the Kanker Sisters the group rebuild the Ed’s city Edtropolis and rename it Kankopolis and challenge the Ed boys. Ed charges into battle going after May, Double D takes Marie, and Eddy realizing he’s no match for the Gourd without the other Ed’s becomes his alter ego, Professor Scam. During the Battle Lee vanishes and attacks the Culdesac. Making quick work of Nazz and Kevin she heads for Ed’s sister, Sarah. Jimmy is still heartbroken with the fall out of Jonny from the urban rangers and has never stopped thinking about his friend. Sarah is no match for the Kanker and is moments from death when Jimmy’s old Master, the Son of a Shepherd saves them, but even he is no match for her now. Seeing Sarah and his old master beaten inches from their life Jimmy has no choice but to embrace the Magic Boomerang that he almost lost himself to years ago. With his new found strength Jimmy is able to save his friends. But who is watching him over the ridge? The person who wanted the location of the Boomerang, Eddy’s Brother. It was actually Eddy’s brother who was responsible for Planks death, which Jonny learns too late. Realizing he desecrated the corpse of his best friend in his rage and turned him into a weapon, Jonny is heartbroken.
Seeing the quiet and calm/scared Jimmy turn into a muscular monster at the end and possibly being the last help the edds could get was one of the best parts
It also implies that it is a Deadly Limit Break. He looks at the Photo of the Urban Rangers before doing so, of which Rolf, Johnny and Jimmy were members... Johnny has turned against the Cul-De-Sac, and Rolf is implied to have been killed in action... Jimmy is the Last Ranger... So him going full "Muscle Mode" implies he's not only going all out, but he is giving up EVERYTHING, Including his life, to save what is left... And to ensure the Urban Rangers go out in a way that is Saga-Worthy.

You see the hat allows Rolf to harness the latent strength of every iron muscle in his body, forged by constant daily training. With the hat he can use every ounce of his strength in one fluid kinetic chain motion, thus generating an unstoppable strike that few could ever hope to walk away from unscathed. OP doesn't begin to describe it.
One person said we can't have to drop that Pebble in the shoe and then another one said but if you combine that with Edzilla. Now that's pretty OP a super raging Edzilla.
I'm happy to no end that people continue to keep this show and its characters alive over a decade after its final airing. This is incredible, and it pains me that this is most likely all we'll ever see of this.
@Noel Leonhart Well, if it helps, there's this music video: th-cam.com/video/6kPLMZ-kv_I/w-d-xo.html and then, there's stuff like this: th-cam.com/video/DKoEHDtM5m0/w-d-xo.html
I appreciate the suggestions, and I’m well aware that those do exist. However, this medium strikes a different cord. It’s such a stark contrast to the normal show, yet there are elements that just seem to fit this style perfectly.
Okay I’m in love with this for a few reason. 1.) Bro after being terrified of the kankers the whole series, the Ed’s were just like ,”Nah fuck that run me my fade bitch.” 2.) The pissed off look on Rolf’s face gives me chills everytime. 3.) Everyone had a moment to shine, hell even eddys brother made an appearance. 4.) Lowkey Johnny looks fucking crazed and I love it They really outdid themselves with this, well done💯🔥
To be fair, the amount of times I've seen shows have banger intros with a dope track and then have the show just not even get close to the amount of excitement the opening has is too high.
Well, Rolf is clearly the insanely strong mentor. Throughout the series he feels responsible for what one of his rangers has become and trains the Eds to get to Captain Melons's power level.

I see this as the natural progression after The Big Picture Show. The Kankers, having had their way with Eddys Brother, have now joined forces and returned to the cul-de-sac to wreak havoc upon the kids who opposed them, Eddys Brother for revenge, the Kankers for the sake of chaos. Along the way, The Gourd, a fallen hero-turned-villain and now an outcast, uses this chaos as an opportunity to seek revenge against those who he used to call his friends. The Eds, having finally been accepted by the rest of the kids, rise up as defenders of the cul-de-sac, with all of their jury-rig science, brute strength, snidely cunning, and the help of ancient artifacts like the boomerang and cursed phone, to protect their friends, save their way of life, and, potentially, remind The Gourd of what he formerly stood for and reawaken the fallen hero known as Captain Melonhead to turn the tide of battle. adult swim, make it happen.

Classic part of any shounen anime when the strongest and most terrible antagonist appears near the end of the OP just for a brief moment, that never gets old.
The amount of references is incredible. I love the details of Ed with the stone in his shoe, and the shadow of evil Tim. timmy and the boomerang the suits, wrestling, the book of facts. what a great show
I think the shadow that Alastor speaks of is the one behind Ed turning his shot, rather than the one of Boomerang Jimmy flexing. Even then I don't think that's Evil Tim either, judging from the two dark red orbs and the regular eyes under it is most likely a reference to Ed's monster costume.
I keep thinking about Ed just combining the power of a pebble in his shoe with the monster mask/ outfit. It would be a top tear fight especially if he has to fight reality "The Eds Break Reality" kanker sisters fusion,
Oh god that’s gonna be worse than the beat down 7 or 8 tailed kyubi Naruto gave to pain after he fucked up Hinata No one is living that combination of power. XD
i want to see full "the gourd arc", many people said that the "last splinter" is in fact the corrupted soul of plank that possessed johnny and that gave him a impressive power that outmatch ed pebble shoe form (not mastered) and the way how almost kill eddy in his debut was awesome but i liked the fact that of "The eds" he was the only one who managed to really hurt johnny in a fight, ed and edd just managed to made him a few scratches but to "The gourd" but not real damage eddy was the only one who managed to made johnny bleed seriously and the fact that his brother said that eddy have a "dark power" way more powerful than his, probably that was the reason why he managed to do that
The pebble in the shoe training arc will now forever be rent free in my head. Just imagine this dude Ed training like he’s learning Naruto Sage mode lmao
In terms of physical strength, Ed truly is the strongest in the series. No one else out-matches him in that department. But, I’m quite curious if Ed turning back into his “Angry Ed” persona via the pebble in his shoe, will also increase his intelligence somehow too? 🤨🤔
Problem would be with 2 pebbles is his body could not bear that pain, and so if he uses it, Like Guy Sensei after 8th gates, he'll end up withered/incinerated away..
Johnny wants revenge for Plank. So he went and made an alliance with the Kankers to attack the Ed Boys. A battle ensues and the rest of the neighborhood joined the Ed boys to fight Johnny and the Kankers but weren't a match still. Just b4 Johnny and the Kankers were going to claim victory, a new challenger arrived. Eddie's old brother. Now the enemies have joined forces to take on the new threat.

Right!! Haha ...It's the perfect true and tragic villains dynamic between Eddy's brother and Johnny, in which Eddy's brother had manipulated Johnny into joining him in his fight against the Eds/Ed Boys, by making him believe they were responsible for Plank's death, when in fact it was him all along, similar to how Uchiha Madara manipulated Obito.

Every single reference in this had me grinning like an idiot. I especially loved when Ed intentionally put a pebble in his shoe to power up. Honestly, everybody says the "Lost Brother Arc" was the best but, for me it'll always be the "Shepherd exams". We see so much character development in ED an some of Rolphs techniques never seen before. When Ed overcame the, "THATS MY HORSE TECHNIQUE". I held back tears. This of course pales to the manga.

@@aaronstrever8517 Yes but can you really tell me it wasn't an obvious outcome? I like suspense and development not obvious one offs. I remember the first time I saw this, as a manga reader, I was awestruck by how bold this OP was; it's almost Jojo-esque in the way that it manages to 'spoil' the whole season, and even scenes from season 3, in ways a first time viewer would never notice, and that makes it SO strong on rewatches. SPOILERS BELOW, consider yourself warned. 0:11 The fact that you can briefly see Plank 'split' here as he gets whittled down is totally foreshadowing the splinter Double D finds in season 3, which he uses to bring Plank for Johnny after the *ending*, which was still being written when the anime entered production, and that's so cool that they actually knew about that 0:15 Johnny's arm visibly has gravy-burns after his fight with Ed in the cafeteria from the flashback in episode 9, which would line up in the timeline with when he finished converting Plank into a stake, and that's just such good attention to detail 0:19 You can see on the wall right before the fire comes in, there's the flower painting; It's onscreen incredibly briefly but attentive viewers might remember that Jimmy is working on a similar painting in episode 1. That scene was actually anime-original, but it highlights something INCREDIBLY important later on that really tied things together-- Jimmy seeing that Johnny still had that painting was what triggered his depressive spiral in season 2, because that was a gift from HIM in between the original show and EEnE Shippuden, only for it to have been destroyed in Johnny's housefire at the end of season 1. 0:29 In the background you can see Rolf's discarded boot, the same one he was missing in his fight against May and Marie in season 1 which kept him from performing the Almighty Three-Shoe Beating, leaving him hospitalized for the following few episodes, which put Kevin on the trajectory of the rest of his character arc in the show 0:33 This shot isn't directly referencing a real fight that takes place, but it IS extremely clever foreshadowing; everything onscreen in this frame is a result of one of Marie Kanker's latent abilities (the house was clearly hit by Bisection, the tree and the house behind it both share the same circular burn mark implying she hit them with Extinction Cannon, etc). Several of those don't get revealed as having been hers and not given to her by Lee until partway through season 2, when they start infighting and all. 0:36 Unlike Marie in the preceding shot, May here is moving in slow motion, which is literally just depicting the ending of the fight she has in season 2, where Nazz learns she can stop time, only for it to turn out that May's ability to 'break anything' lets her break the rules of Nazz's ability and attack her even when she's supposed to be frozen. That's one of my favorite moments in the whole show for just how tense it gets, tragic it ends, and how cathartic it feels when Kevin and Double D come in to save her, so this shot made me squeal out loud when I first saw it. Funny thing, I was watching with a friend at the time who was anime-only so I couldn't explain why I had that reaction and it *killed* me, haha 0:40 This silhouette shot is recreating an EXTREMELY iconic page from the original manga, which straight up became a meme on twitter for a while because Johnny fans were so excited by the first signs that he might get a chance to become a good guy in the new series. Love the way the animation studio is willing to not just reference the original work, but the culture surrounding it, that means a lot to me. 0:41 This part hurts me because you get an incredibly brief flash of Nazz and Kevin together on this street, which... never 'actually' happens; when he dies in this alleyway in season 3, he has a hallucination of Nazz in his last moments that he confesses his feelings to right before passing on, and this bit is downright *cruel*, it hurts me just looking at it to type this up ;~; 0:46 Double D is at visibly working on his Refractor Beam, the one that counters Marie's Extinction Cannon, but if you look on his desk, he has the Facts book he gets from the abandoned house's library, and the Canadian squirt gun; this is actually a reference to the research he does to create the Mucky Boys in Season 2, which is a REALLY good way to loop in a filler arc like that honestly 0:47 Everybody loves this shot with Ed standing in front of the silhouette of his Tailed Beast form and all, but I want to give special shoutouts to the animators here: They actually put him in the exact same pose he strikes right before he FIGHTS the imagined Edzilla in chapter 68, page 13 of the manga, and that's just pure fanservice for me 1:01 There's just a few frames here if you pause it at just the right time where one of Double D's goggle lenses gets broken off by Marie here, which is exactly what happens at the start of season 3 when these two fight for the last time, and it's such a small detail but I appreciate it so much 1:09 Everyone can tell the reference here with Johnny being taken out of the picture of the Urban Rangers group photo, but I just love that the picture is burned and not just torn or tattered, again to reference the housefire that this photo *would have been through*, they care so much about continuity 1:11 I don't have anything special to say here other than this shot gives me fucking CHILLS every time, I really can't goddamn wait to see the fight between Rolf and Eddy's brother get animated by this studio, it's coming up in just a few episodes at this rate and it's gonna be SO good 1:14 Lee hits Kevin with the same uppercut that kills him in season 3 in this shot and, again, that's aimed squarely for my heart and I can't take it 1:21 There's a few frames where you can see Lee's Third Eye here and the fact that they straight up dropped a spoiler for the second to last fight in the OP for season ONE is so fucking ballsy to me, but apparently enough people didn't notice that I don't really mind 1:25 In the fly-by cuts here over Jimmy's transformation sequence (which, again, I can't say enough good about, they treated that moment SO WELL last week) there's a whopping three frames where you can see Eddy fighting Yusuke Urumeshi, which is a reference to the fucking crossover fighting game they had with Yu Yu Hakusho a year or two before the anime started airing. That game was kinda bad and I don't know why they chose to reference it, but it made me happy anyway in a silly way 1:30 Again this is a really faithfully reconstructed splash page from the manga, but they actually corrected an error where Eddy's Brother didn't have his golden tooth, which was kind of a big deal since that's kind of how Eddy and Johnny manage to beat him in the final fight, so people reading the original run claimed it ended in kind of an ass-pull (which, I want to clarify, those people are idiots because they took one art error as gospel over the half a dozen flashbacks where if you look closely, you can clearly see he always had a gold tooth). As someone who got into more than a few twitter arguments about this, I felt EXTREMELY gratified here. Phew, anyway, that's my anime OP breakdown I guess. I would love someday to go full Anime TH-camr and really give this the play-by-play it deserves in a proper video, but unfortunately I can't find any clean rips of the show online for some reason. Oh well. Maybe someday.
in anime i remember that nazz have a great fight against marie in a 1 on 1 fight (in manga marie have the upper hand majority of time) , she lost but i liked the fact that she forced marie to unleash her full power, she said that not even EDD managed to see her full power but that scene show us how strong she became after big bro arc, nazz is so underrated and kevin too, in manga he fought eddys brother ,too bad that he didnt managed to doing "a real damage" (just bleeding of his mouth) but i liked the fact that he endured his most powerful attacks, even eddy said that "The old tortures" technique is a power that his brother never relies against "nobodies" that he recognized kevin as a threat, the power levels in manga are impressive
"The Hat of Discipline" scene perfectly highlights why Double D is the greatest protagonist of all time. Double D having to swallow his own pride and admit to not knowing what the Hat of Discipline was only to thank Rolf later for enlightening him by crushing his entire body is historical. I'd argue it's even more impactful than the "Cupcakes of Sorriness" scene.
This gave me actual chills lmao. I love the art style mix of anime and the original. Ed putting a rock in his shoe to rage fight was a great detail too.
Holy fuck! I’d literally pay a shit ton of money to see a whole Ed, Edd n Eddy Spin-Off series like this. Just keep it in the time period the OG show was in, NO MODERN DAY! And definitely English Dub airing first with the original cast.
For me the only cartoon that beats this out is Samurai Jack. I’m a major sucker for action shows and movies. But apart from that, I do agree with you. Ed Edd n Eddy is my #2 favorite cartoon of all time. And no cartoon will EVER remove it from that spot.
Why isn't this a full-fleged anime yet? This needs to happen immediately. And I ain't talkin about 12 little episodes, I'm talkin about at least 24 episodes.

In don’t know why but my favorite part is when the silhouette of Jimmy equipping the boomerang and transforming into his buffed form. Something visceral and heavy about it. Like he willingly turns into a beast to fight for his home. I know it’s a meme intro but seeing that made me realize just how insanely talented this man is. It makes me want to put a similar amount of time and energy to make something as striking as that. Kudos bro.
All jokes aside, this is beautiful! The opening with Plank withering to a shard representing Jonny's loss of innonence. The eds teaming up with the kids to defeat the Kankers, the Gourd, and Eddy's Brother. Jimmy looking tearfully at his photo of the urban rangers with Jonny torn off. Jonny was probably the closest friend Jimmy had besides Sarah. The image of Plank at the end with red lines down his eyes like he's been crying.
also buddy you can see "Crossovers",almost in the ending of the opening you can see ed trainning with piccolo and also eddy kicking yusuke urameshi of Yu Yu Hakusho
1:25 My favorite shot of the entire parody. Little Jimmy had enough of their shit and decides to take things into his matter by finding the boomerang to become *BUFF JIMMY* once again.
I don't think we ever saw Jimmy's true power in his bruiser form. I mean he was clearing a match for Kevin if not moreover. But the form wore off before the battle could reallt begin.
When Jimmie turns all buff, you can see the magic boomerang in the back of his shirt behind his neck. Great attention to detail and lore For those who don't know, there was an episode with a magic boomerang who made everyone act the opposite like double D became a lazy hippie nudist and Ed became super smart. And of course made Jimmy buff as hell

Remember when he got hypnotized into going sicko mode? He just had to be on that shit to get that dog in him.

i want to see full "the gourd arc", many people said that the "last splinter" is in fact the corrupted soul of plank that possessed johnny and that gave him a impressive power that outmatch ed pebble shoe form (not mastered) and the way how almost kill eddy in his debut was awesome but i liked the fact that of "The eds" he was the only one who managed to really hurt johnny in a fight, ed and edd just managed to made him a few scratches but to "The gourd" but not real damage eddy was the only one who managed to made johnny bleed seriously and the fact that his brother said that eddy have a "dark power" way more powerful than his, probably that was the reason why he managed to do that
The pebble in the shoe training arc will now forever be rent free in my head.
Y edd crea el zuero del green goblin para aserse mas fuerte

He might be able to if he can channel the Ed-zilla strength. But he'd have to end the battle quickly so his mind remains intact.

Johnny wants revenge for Plank. So he went and made an alliance with the Kankers to attack the Ed Boys. No lie, Jimmy being the one to take down Eddy's brother is perfect storytelling.
-Eddy essentially mentored Jimmy and taught him everything he knew about scams, essentially making him the unofficial third brother.
-Eddy's brother also tormented Eddy and was indirectly responsible for Eddy's entire mindset throughout the show.
-Literally all the kids in the cul de sac were afraid of him. But Jimmy the weakest character overcomes all his insecurities to take down the biggest threat is just Anime 101.

Right!! Like A Madara Entrance
The fact you had Eddy's brother and The Hat of Discipline in this animation pushed it from great to legendary.
Eddy: "your sacrificed everything to stop us, johnny. Even plank"
Johnny: "I did what I had to do to gain this power"
Edd: "But to sacrifice the one you loved... That's just selfish."
Johnny: "Maybe. But now I stand before you. Confident with selfish power. "

Johnny: "Hmph, and you think you have anyone? What you have was stolen from me! You created what I am now! A friendless loser, with nobody beside you, not even a real friendship. Eddy, this is especially true of you. If you were true friends, you wouldn't have dragged Ed and Double D through the mud with your screw ups."
Eddy: "I'll admit, I ain't proud of what I did back then. And I'll still never forgive myself for all the trouble I caused for my friends. But friends help each other, even if it means risking their own skins."
Ed: "Even when everyone hated us, we still had each other, so we were never truly alone."
Johnny: "ENOUGH! I don't want to hear your excuses, trying to justify all the chaos you caused! I just want to see you dead! You turned my friends against me, so I'll turn you against each other! Know the pain I've suffered!"

Every single reference in this had me grinning like an idiot. I especially loved when Ed intentionally put a pebble in his shoe to power up. That is the most ridiculous anime power up to the point that it makes me truly believe Ed Edd n Eddy could be adapted into an anime. This was an absolutely brilliant video, great job.
Don’t forget about jimmy putting the boomerang on too.
The pebble in shoe is princess
Ed: "In order to stop the monsters, I must become a monster, Double D."
*Drops Pepple into shoe*
Double D: "No, Ed! There must be another way!"
Ed: *Puts shoe on*
Ed: "The only way out of Hell in to go all way through, this calls for BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!"
Let's not forget Jimmy's power up with the personality reversing boomerang.
Then there’s Eddy turning into a superhero. Would we call him a superhero now? I know he put that costume on to be a villain but he’s not bad anymore if I remember correctly.
In my opinion you can't be the "great journey arc" at the end because of how much comes to front. And you see the final battle that was built much and it gave areal sense of closer
@@aaronstrever8517 Yes but can you really tell me it wasn't an obvious outcome? I like suspense and development not obvious one offs. Like when we saw Kevin put aside his differences with Ed to take on The Kankers sisters. That was dramatic and unexpected, not the final battle where we know Ed's the obvious choice of winning.

This dude dropped one of the hardest videos and just vanishes for two years.
0:11 The fact that you can briefly see Plank 'split' here as he gets whittled down is totally foreshadowing the splinter Double D finds in season 3, which he uses to bring Plank for Johnny after the *ending*, which was still being written when the anime entered production, and that's so cool that they actually knew about that
0:15 Johnny's arm visibly has gravy-burns after his fight with Ed in the cafeteria from the flashback in episode 9, which would line up in the timeline with when he finished converting Plank into a stake, and that's just such good attention to detail
0:19 You can see on the wall right before the fire comes in, there's the flower painting; It's onscreen incredibly briefly but attentive viewers might remember that Jimmy is working on a similar painting in episode 1.
0:29 In the background you can see Rolf's discarded boot, the same one he was missing in his fight against May and Marie in season 1 which kept him from performing the Almighty Three-Shoe Beating, leaving him hospitalized for the following few episodes, which put Kevin on the trajectory of the rest of his character arc in the show
0:33 This shot isn't directly referencing a real fight that takes place, but it IS extremely clever foreshadowing; everything onscreen in this frame is a result of one of Marie Kanker's latent abilities (the house was clearly hit by Bisection, the tree and the house behind it both share the same circular burn mark implying she hit them with Extinction Cannon, etc).
Funny thing, I was watching with a friend at the time who was anime-only so I couldn't explain why I had that reaction and it *killed* me, haha
0:40 This silhouette shot is recreating an EXTREMELY iconic page from the original manga, which straight up became a meme on twitter for a while because Johnny fans were so excited by the first signs that he might get a chance to become a good guy in the new series. Love the way the animation studio is willing to not just reference the original work, but the culture surrounding it, that means a lot to me.
0:41 This part hurts me because you get an incredibly brief flash of Nazz and Kevin together on this street, which... never 'actually' happens; when he dies in this alleyway in season 3, he has a hallucination of Nazz in his last moments that he confesses his feelings to right before passing on, and this bit is downright *cruel*, it hurts me just looking at it to type this up ;~;
0:46 Double D is at visibly working on his Refractor Beam, the one that counters Marie's Extinction Cannon, but if you look on his desk, he has the Facts book he gets from the abandoned house's library, and the Canadian squirt gun; this is actually a reference to the research he does to create the Mucky Boys in Season 2, which is a REALLY good way to loop in a filler arc like that honestly
0:47 Everybody loves this shot with Ed standing in front of the silhouette of his Tailed Beast form and all, but I want to give special shoutouts to the animators here: They actually put him in the exact same pose he strikes right before he FIGHTS the imagined Edzilla in chapter 68, page 13 of the manga, and that's just pure fanservice for me
1:01 There's just a few frames here if you pause it at just the right time where one of Double D's goggle lenses gets broken off by Marie here, which is exactly what happens at the start of season 3 when these two fight for the last time, and it's such a small detail but I appreciate it so much
1:09 Everyone can tell the reference here with Johnny being taken out of the picture of the Urban Rangers group photo, but I just love that the picture is burned and not just torn or tattered, again to reference the housefire that this photo *would have been through*, they care so much about continuity
1:11 I don't have anything special to say here other than this shot gives me fucking CHILLS every time, I really can't goddamn wait to see the fight between Rolf and Eddy's brother get animated by this studio, it's coming up in just a few episodes at this rate and it's gonna be SO good
1:14 Lee hits Kevin with the same uppercut that kills him in season 3 in this shot and, again, that's aimed squarely for my heart and I can't take it
1:21 There's a few frames where you can see Lee's Third Eye here and the fact that they straight up dropped a spoiler for the second to last fight in the OP for season ONE is so fucking ballsy to me, but apparently enough people didn't notice that I don't really mind
1:25 In the fly-by cuts here over Jimmy's transformation sequence (which, again, I can't say enough good about, they treated that moment SO WELL last week) there's a whopping three frames where you can see Eddy fighting Yusuke Urumeshi, which is a reference to the fucking crossover fighting game they had with Yu Yu Hakusho a year or two before the anime started airing. That game was kinda bad and I don't know why they chose to reference it, but it made me happy anyway in a silly way
1:30 Again this is a really faithfully reconstructed splash page from the manga, but they actually corrected an error where Eddy's Brother didn't have his golden tooth, which was kind of a big deal since that's kind of how Eddy and Johnny manage to beat him in the final fight, so people reading the original run claimed it ended in kind of an ass-pull (which, I want to clarify, those people are idiots because they took one art error as gospel over the half a dozen flashbacks where if you look closely, you can clearly see he always had a gold tooth).

So detailed, for the lolz
in anime i remember that nazz have a great fight against marie in a 1 on 1 fight (in manga marie have the upper hand majority of time) , she lost but i liked the fact that she forced marie to unleash her full power, she said that not even EDD managed to see her full power but that scene show us how strong she became after big bro arc, nazz is so underrated and kevin too, in manga he fought eddys brother ,too bad that he didnt managed to doing "a real damage" (just bleeding of his mouth) but i liked the fact that he endured his most powerful attacks, even eddy said that "The old tortures" technique is a power that his brother never relies against "nobodies" that he recognized kevin as a threat, the power levels in manga are impressive
