American wouldn't just rip off his backers. EA still hold the rights so making a game with the Alice IP is much more problematic than you realise. Gotta settle for what you can get, including how Otherlands turned out. Or just keep going on making misinformed excuses.
This was one of my favorite games and still is to this day. Many years ago I actually worked for EA Games in Austin Texas doing tech support. I remember that one day I had gotten lots of positive reviews from customers which allowed me a free game from the company. One of the bosses comes by with this stack of games, and 95% of them were sports games and first person shooters. I told him thanks but I wasn't interested in any of them, so he asked me what games I liked. In the back of my mind I knew they had a copy there of the original American McGee's Alice, but i was positive it was off limits. I said there was one game I was interested in, but they wouldn't give it to me. He just said " try me" so I told him he says he'll think about it, and walked away. An hour later just as I was going on break he comes by and sets the game right next to my hand, and tells me not to tell anybody that he gave it to me. So I have one of the original copies of American McGee's Alice, and I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
Sucks this game is so underrated... The game itself as well as the soundtrack (and art concepts) are amazing. My favourite game that I can play over and over again 😊
Crybaby Panda did you finish it? the revelation is amazing and puts the story into context. brilliant writing. if you never finished it, i suggest you youtube the final cut scene. then go back and watch the other cutscenes. but start with the ending and everything will make sense

My one disapointment with the game. Alice has many boss fights, Madness Returns only one. The way Hatter suddenly destroys the big mech Dormouse and Hare were going to use against Alice leads me to conjecture that this was intentional...
Probably because the Dollmaker was supposed to be the true boss of Wonderland when compared to the original where multiple bosses tried to be in control of their own little section of the place with the Red Queen trying to unite them all, like she did with the Jabberwock? I know this theory sounds like shite, but it makes sense when it comes to me ... and since the Dollmaker doesn`t tolerate other Wonderlanders except the duo that made the Infernal Train, yeah, I totally see why is he the only boss fight in the game while big enemies are more like minibosses. On the other hand, I agree with both of you as well. This game needs more true boss fights.
or maybe because EA was slowly abandoning spicy horse? The game had SEVERAL elements that would've made it bigger and better just cut out for lack of resources, and for no reason at all, EA abandoned Spicy Horse when they wanted to end with the third sequel "Otherlands".

She was young in the first game (probably about 7 years like the books) and Madness Returns is 10 years later. She is still a minor (in modern U.S. terms).

Why has he focused mainly on the hatter's domain? There are many more beautiful places in the game (no offence). Besides, the growing ability is not openly available to Alice. It's only available in a certain Queensland, in a kind of mini game.

I love Alice in Wonderland because of how trippy it is, and I love Silent Hill because of how fucked up it is. This game is basically a mix of both. The character and level design (as well as the soundtrack), is AMAZING. Unfortunately this game is a platformer. Jumping from platform to platform, pulling a lever in order to jump through another platform is just the most boring thing to me. Still a great game. If the original team silent who made SH2 and 3 were to make Alice in Wonderland 3. That would be the most amazing game ever. A collaborative soundtrack would be cool too.
correction, the game takes place 1 year after she was released. the 10 years part was the time between the fire (when she was 8) and AMA (when she was 18). Alice looks like a 19 year old in this game, not a 28 year old.
It actually takes place in Oxford in 1875 I play the game on my PS3 all the way to the end so I know how it ends I am just not going to spoil it because you know how people are when they see the ending and there friends have not seen it I do tend to do but I am not going to so just be lucky

Their was so meany things that didn’t make the final cut, like parts of the game where Alice not only has to run from card bosses to yo survive but also from the police officers in London as well, zip lining with a umbrella from building to building. And having the cake growth power used more then once then that one level.
I'm praying we get alice asylum soon. I'll buy it in an instant. If this game had anything to add I would have like pieces of the cake scattered around Wonderland so that she can become a giant more often and stomp around. That was fun. ❤

well it did not have real boss battles just the final boss others could qualify as mini bosses like the colossal ruin that appear certain amount of times and the executioner that is a cutscene boss
Eh... those weren't really bosses, just tanky enemies. The development was delayed and whole features were cut so you experience quite a few points in the game where it seems like a boss battle is about to happen and then... nothing.
Sadly there is only one boss,at the very end of the game. Instead each level tries to make you think you're about to fight an exciting boss battle...and then nothing happens. Yeah it pissed me off too.

She was denied the truth about what really happened to her family, and she drove herself mad in her pursuit of the truth. What’s more she found out that the doctor who was “helping” her was really a r**ist and a murderer, who was trying to twist her mind into forgetting what he did to save his reputation. Not that anyone would’ve believed her. To everyone else Alice Liddell is a violent, psychopathic madwoman who ought to be put down like a rabid animal. Really poor Alice was doomed from the start.

You should be able to get it on Amazon. You can also buy it through EA's Origin service. That's why it's not on Steam anymore; because EA owns the rights, they can basically sell it wherever they want. Origin is shit, though, so I'd try Amazon. You should be able to get it cheaper there anyway.
I remember me and my cousin we’re watching some fnaf video and then my aunt who had the game asked “You like scary stuff” we replied with “yes” after that she showed us pewdiepies playthrough of the game and we were watching the first cutscene everything was okay until the part of the cutscene were there was blood and shit safe to say we were scared out of our minds.

I remember me and my cousin we’re watching some fnaf video and then my aunt who had the game asked “You like scary stuff” we replied with “yes” after that she showed us pewdiepies playthrough of the game and we were watching the first cutscene everything was okay until the part of the cutscene were there was blood and shit safe to say we were scared out of our minds.
This is such a fuckin fantastic game! Definitely a work of art and creativity from everyone involved.
2:36 you forgot to mention that the shrink flower regenerates health, it took me 4 chapters to realize that myself.
