Wow, thank you for this information! I Queried Mark back in 2013 for my first novel written in 2012. I queried my first drafts which was not smart. At the time I didn't understand that like a plant, our writing will grow with time and cultivation. Since then I've learned many things and most importanly to not push things that are not yet ready to grow. I couldn't figure out why things weren't manifesting. So instead of giving up on my dreams, I planted myself and began really harnessing my creativity and working on my craft. I'm working on my audience also. I've also revamped my work tremendously and am now ready to reach out to him again in 2020. I love watching him on TH-cam platforms because Mark is one of the few agents who gives powerful information to authors about the industry and how to transcend. He seems like an amazing Soul to work with. Good luck to all the authors out there. Don't stop!! Never give up!! Keep following your dreams. Your story will be told.

Great talk, Michael! Every single question you've asked is to the point - exactly what an author wants to know. Thank you for being such a stellar host!

This is a great interview. The host playing devil's advocate and asking the hard questions on behalf of small nonfiction writers is the reason this is great. I have the same questions and comments. Thank you.

If you have 100K guaranteed sales, what do you need a publisher for?

And in that simple statement you have summarized the current state of the publishing industry!
But in all seriousness, there are times when the prestige of a real publisher is very helpful to an author.
Any author today should consider whether traditional publishing or self-publishing makes most sense for themself.
