It must've been weird for Tyler to have his first big performance right after their hiatus in front of celebs being used the supportive clique in the crowd and not people who have no idea whats going on . Also performing one of the first songs they came out with after their hiatus with a crowd who may not understand but when he's on tour and the clique is in the audience we sing with our hearts and souls not just saying or singing what Tyler is but living, meaning, and screaming the lyrics with him and not at him.
Twenty One Pilots are one of those bands where even though they've exploded into the limelight--especially after Blurryface--you can still tell that they haven't changed on the interior and that there's something bigger going on underneath. I love it and it's one of the many reasons why Tyler and Josh will forever have my deepest respect and support. Thanks for helping me through a lot of things, guys. You have no idea.

I genuinely loved this, but Tyler wasn’t as hype or dancing like he usually does and he seemed quite distant, maybe it was the fact that he wasn’t playing for a room full of people who actually enjoy his music, (not saying no one there did) but he just seemed super nervous. Maybe bc he hasn’t done something like this in a while? Idk but I’m still proud of these boys!!! ALSO, Snapchat didn’t have a recap of their performance... It's all in the sound mixing, unfortunately. Panic did an amazing job w/Bohemian Rhapsody, but you couldn't hear Brendon Urie that great. He has a more powerful voice than how it came across. (tho I think that was recorded elsewhere)

I think that happens with every performance on tv. When you go to anyone's concert they are most likely spot-on, then on tv it sounds like a disaster because they (I suppose) don't have the right equipment for live music.

The difficulties were that he actually tried playing an instrument instead of a back track being played the entire time. Let’s be real these guys are basically a live karaoke band that proves you don’t need a lot of talent. Their music is average at best that the average music fan with a short attention span finds fascinating.
Most live performances are horribly mastered and makes the singer sound bad. Usually sounds amazing if you’re actually there. Just the way it goes sometimes but I’m glad they powered through pretty well

No one should expect anyone to jump around and go crazy at an award show. People will probably not be jumping around at the BBMAs this weekend when they perform Shy Away either, lol.

This was so beautiful...from shirtless Josh, to the neon lights from "Nico and the Niners", to Tyler's Levitate outfit, to his bright yellow bass, to the burning car and the falling yellow flower petals. Perfection.

You can tell how confused the crowd was, as well as how nervous and shy and uncomfortable Tyler and Josh were. It's not the Clique, it's not their crowd. This reminded me of that line in Message Man: "These lyrics aren't for everyone only few understand" and I realized how true it is. I guess this is why TØP rarely plays in award shows; cuz it's not who they write their music for. But they delivered an amazing performance nonetheless. Not to mention how rarely this type of screaming and alternative music ever made it to something as mainstream as the AMAS. Super proud of Tyler and Josh!! Anyways thanks for coming to my TED Talk. I always have the idea that they're not really comfortable at singing in front of an audience that is not the clique. I genuinely loved this, but Tyler wasn’t as hype or dancing like he usually does and he seemed quite distant, maybe it was the fact that he wasn’t playing for a room full of people who actually enjoy his music, (not saying no one there did) but he just seemed super nervous. Maybe bc he hasn’t done something like this in a while? Idk but I’m still proud of these boys!!! ALSO, Snapchat didn’t have a recap of their performance... I’m suing they deserve a full freaking movie!!!

It's all in the sound mixing, unfortunately. Panic did an amazing job w/Bohemian Rhapsody, but you couldn't hear Brendon Urie that great. He has a more powerful voice than how it came across. (tho I think that was recorded elsewhere)

Does anybody else think the sound quality was really bad? You can barely hear tylers vocals and at times even the instrumental is too quiet, im not saying the performance was bad cause i think that was fine it was just literally the volume of the microphone, instrumental and tylers instruments :/

I think that happens with every performance on tv. When you go to anyone's concert they are most likely spot-on, then on tv it sounds like a disaster because they (I suppose) don't have the right equipment for live music.

The difficulties were that he actually tried playing an instrument instead of a back track being played the entire time. Let’s be real these guys are basically a live karaoke band that proves you don’t need a lot of talent. Their music is average at best that the average music fan with a short attention span finds fascinating.

Most live performances are horribly mastered and makes the singer sound bad. Usually sounds amazing if you’re actually there. Just the way it goes sometimes but I’m glad they powered through pretty well
colin elliott they did this performance the exact same way they do every other performance...he plays bass, piano, and uke live on nearly every song, and they always do it along w a backtrack just like they did here...I’m always open to criticism and opinions but your statements are confusing in context...

The videos audio is nothing like the live EQing, this is just how it sounds when there's a ton of speakers blasting music and thousands of people singing and screaming. For the people who heard it live, it wouldn't sound any different then the radio (besides the thousands of people yelling that is).

kyu talks still what? do you realize that this is how they make money? sorry to break it to you but they have to be mainstream as well to earn more money. the only reason they have a huge fanbase and perform at huge arenas is because their songs got on the radio.
You can tell how confused the crowd was, as well as how nervous and shy and uncomfortable Tyler and Josh were. It's not the Clique, it's not their crowd. This reminded me of that line in Message Man: "These lyrics aren't for everyone only few understand" and I realized how true it is. I guess this is why TØP rarely plays in award shows; cuz it's not who they write their music for. But they delivered an amazing performance nonetheless. Not to mention how rarely this type of screaming and alternative music ever made it to something as mainstream as the AMAS. Super proud of Tyler and Josh!! Anyways thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Paul what’s so wrong about letting people enjoy something? It’s very obvious that the crowd didn’t get the music. It wasn’t made for them. You shouldn’t have the mentality that destroys the pride people have in a band. The whole point of the clique is that if you understand it, you are the clique. If you listened to this song and understood the meaning behind what Jumpsuit represents, you are clique.
I always have the idea that they're not really comfortable at singing in front of an audience that is not the clique. Like, Tyler is afraid of walk, run and jump on the stage because the audience, they wouldn't understand what they mean, but we know what they mean. Anyway, great performance, like always.
