Hi all, thank you watching my video review of the new Fiesta ST Line X. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed driving it! Any questions about the car, please let me know and I'll answer as soon as I can.
*haven’t seen your videos for a while mate but your production and camera presence has improved dramatically, great seeing your channel evolve. Great video and informative review*
Cheers buddy! It's been a while since I've checked out your content, I've been so busy lately though. I should be in bed right now, but I'm uploading a video for tomorrow night, and I'm going through my new filming gear.
Believe it or not, I will be picking up my 2018 Fiesta ST line this weekend. It looks brand-new. That’s because it only has 4000 miles recorded. It’s a nice deep metallic red, with the graphite grey alloys. It will probably turn me into the oldest boy racer ever. I really enjoy a car that can handle twisty roads. What I have seen reviewed so far, regarding this car’s handling capability. I don’t think I will be disappointed. 👍
Hi Steve, no I don't think you'll be disappointed, it's a fun little car. If it's got the 1.0 litre Ecoboost (very likely, the only other choice was a 1.5 diesel IIRC) make sure it had correct service history with high quality oil. Thanks for watching.
Love this car, got the deep impact blue ST line-X coming next week, I test drove it yesterday and the only issue I have is the size of the wing mirrors, they are tiny but that’s the only issue I could come up with the car. Lovely colour and lovely car, also class review mate really useful!
my Wife has this Fiesta ST Line as a daily and family run around in deep impact Blue with the 18'nch alloys .An excellent and good review and i agree with your comments however, what is missing is just how much bigger this Fiesta is now compared to the out going model my wife had the Fiesta Red Edition previously and loved it, but this new one is very different and very much 'Golf 'sized with a lot of Focus parts on it, Steering wheel, column and stalks are from the Focus. its a very solid well built car, still a lot of fun and your right the handling is as good in bends as a Caterham the speed you can take through bends is almost race car like, very impressive!!........I've owned 5 Caterhams so have plenty to compare the Fiesta too..... as you say the ST will be very interesting.
Hey Steve, thanks for watching. You know what, it does feel like a bigger car, but I thought it was just me. Mind you, I took it around to my Dad's house, and he owns a Mk2 Focus and he said that the Fiesta wasn't that much smaller 🤔. It also felt wider on country roads than my 2006 Ibiza FR. Bring on the ST!!!
Park the new car next to the old one and it becomes clear just how much bigger it is and clearly taller too, it would only be obvious to those that have owned the previous model.... it did remind me of the MK 2 Focus.. not only will the Fiesta ST be interesting to drive but the new Focus ST will be interesting too, how will that handle?....keep up the good work i've subscribed.
Hi Craig, thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, I certainly did review the ST; the video can be found here: th-cam.com/video/K53ZdSXJuaI/w-d-xo.html
This is Late but I’m getting a 2018 ST X delivered soon and I can’t wait, I had a Fabia Monte Carlo before so I’m expecting something good 👍 great review mate
Great review. I have recently visited the Ford dealer here and the 5 door Fiesta B&O edition is excellent (in the front seats anyway). Haven't driven the new Fiesta yet.
I drove the automatic ecoboost and yes, the manual in this case is the better choice. But it they bring back the dual clutch and have solved some of the annoying things about it, I would consider it. ST will be interesting to see when it arrives, I hope you get a chance to review it also.
Yes, the auto is 'OK' but for me, you have to have the manual. Yes, I anticipate I will get a chance to test the new ST, but I may have to wait - it'll be worth it though! Thanks for watching!
Hey this is great! A friend has one of these (I think he's had every Fiesta EcoBoost since they were launched 😀) and it's an absolute blast and that engine note is brilliant, sounds like half a Porsche 💪 Not that it matters, but do you film with a smartphone?
@@CarObsession Sorry, I had typed the comment whilst still watching the video 😂 I saw later you were using a GoPro - I asked as I know how tricky it can be recording with a bulky camera in a car that's all. It all looks great to me - keep up the good work, subscribed for more! 👍
Price is too expensive for ST line 1.0 It’s not far shy of a bog standard ST fiesta . I do like little comforts such as cruise control , auto lights , climate , auto dimming mirror etc . I like having power under the bonnet ideally both , in the form of an ST2/3 however for the money if I had to choose I’d have the power . I’d settle for a base ST .
I can see where you are coming from, but don't forget this is an ST Line X with options. The ST Line in its most basic form starts from £17,165. Admittedly, that still isn't THAT much cheaper than a Fiesta ST-1 (£18,995), but I suppose that's still around £2,000 difference. Mind you, I'd rather go for the full fat ST 😈 Thanks for watching.
Car Obsession I had an offer for immediate collection of an ST-1 for £17,698 in white 👎. I had an offer of £18,289 for a ST-2 Also in frost or frozen white? Can’t remember but white . I want a grey one with 18,s , red calipers , limited slip diff ,
Hi JB thanks for watching. I can see what you mean, but it's worth mentioning that the ST Line X starts from £18,490, so not quite as dear as you thought. The one tested did have quite a few options, which is why it was more expensive.
Car Obsession True, but I would imagine that a majority of buyers would opt for the 125 or 140 output and possibly 5dr. I’m just comparing this new generation to the previous one, the ST looks kind of a bargain when you think it started at just under £18k, the new ST is going to be closer to £23k. It’s nice to see Ford are now offering full LED headlights for the Fiesta, and at a very reasonable £600.
Yeah I can see where you're coming from in that regard. I actually did a bit of looking, and I found an almost-new (it had done 600 miles) Fiesta ST Mk2 for £15,000. If you're willing to get an older you can get one for under £10,000 - very tempting indeed... It'll be interesting to see how much the new Fiesta ST will be - most places predict around £19,000 but I saw an article on Motor1 that suggested it will be around £23,000!!! Here's the link for the article: uk.motor1.com/news/227112/2018-ford-fiesta-st-debut/ I hope that is wrong as I feel that is simiply too much.
Car Obsession Well my dealer just told me that you can’t currently order an ST Line X due to there being a problem with the leather seats, no idea of when that will be resolved. Yes that’s what I’ve read and been told by a few dealers, the ST will be around £23k.. that’s just too much imo.
Hi Stephen thanks for watching. You could be correct, but don't forget Ford uses symposer in some of its other models, so it wouldn't surprise me if one is used in the ST Line X. Thanks for watching. *edit* Mind you, it looks as if such a feature is used only for the full-fat ST models. It just sounded too good (and audible) to be true, but if that noise is the real deal, then that is a pleasant surprise! Also, I've driven a few three cylinders and none of them have sounded quite as good as this, and I've driven the standard Fiesta, so Ford must have done something with the ST-Line. Maybe it's the fact that's the more powerful engine, as the other Fiestas I've tested have been less powerful, or diesel.
Afternoon Stephen, I just wanted to follow from my last comment. I have spoken with Ford, and they have said that the noise is not coming from sound symposer; it's down to the different exhaust and the fact that the engine is more powerful than the other Fiestas I've been able to test.
Hi Lewis, thanks for watching. The ST Line X has more features, such it has climate control, a bigger touchscreen (8 inches compared to the ST-Line's 6.5 inches), partial leather seats, automatic lights and wipers, rear privacy glass, cruise control, etc.
Hi Bwead, thanks for watching. No, they are not heated. The Vingale offers heated steering wheel and seats, as does the ST-3 (ST-2 has heated seats but not heated steering wheel).
Hi Andrew, funnily enough I was speaking with Ford today - hopefully I'll get an invite to the UK launch of the new ST, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. Either way, I'll get to test it, it's just a case of when. Thanks for watching.
Anthony Senior I've driven a few Fiestas and I've never found it to be an issue, but it just felt more noticeable in this model. Maybe the different roof lining highlights the issue more, who knows?
Hello Charlie, too early to say as I've not heard anything from Ford as of yet, but I would have thought it would be some time this year. Watch this space. Thanks for watching this video though Charlie 👍
Excellent review, as ever. I know it's a better car than the previous generation, but I don't like that grille. I really don't. It looks like a manically depressed fish.
