My problem is there is no one to follow these older women there the best there is no better what is going to happen to our blues oldies music ...I grew up with this music ...I grew up with these new Orleans singers fats domino...Irma thomas ...Bobby cure and the summer time blues back all these musicians in the day I can show you the picture of the plaque that hangs on my wall ...he was conducted in the hall of fame of new Orleans....as I was saying they the best we just lost another great musician that you cannot repeat Mr Dr John well known in new Orleans...this gets me sick that we cant repeat this but I feel so blessed I'm one of the few that got to know these musicians correction artists music ......in person seen them ....IRMA THOMAS THE SOUL QUEEN OF NEW ORLEANS....ROCKS THE CROUDS LIKE NO TOMORROW WILL COME ........I seen people jump put there seats and just dance for her with there hankies and love her then whe SHES done they take those hankies and wipe their heads and sit to wait for the next performer ......I've seen my uncle Bobby cures band back all these great and wonderful musicians....now what happens to our great oldies .....my daddy Mr Larry cure who sang with them all and sang it all kept the tradition going with me I know it all but he passed so how do we keep it going when we losing all our great legends ....even phat2sday passed he was next n line ......so please someone tell me how we keep it going ....I cant find a decent band no where to sing to keep it going .......????

Y'know, the thing about Gladys isn't just her voice and phrasing, which are superb; it's her ACTING. That, for me, is what sets her apart from damn near everybody else. It's like she's just talking to you, opening up emotionally and sharing something important from her life with all the physicality and gesturing and facial expressions that go with it. I've never heard of her doing any musical theatre, but that's what it makes me think of. There's a saying in the theatre that you don't have to have the greatest voice in the world as long as you can act the song. If you can act the song AND you have the greatest voice in the world, you're Gladys Knight. Long live the Empress.
