When I worked there from 75-98 the innermost layer of rubber was natural rubber because it would hold air in inflation. They may have changed things since I worked there.

Work there past 15 years. The inner layer is synthetic because natural rubber is not air proof. Today you can go 2 years with zero pressure loss.
