Had no idea of what radial wheels were, didn't even know there were "bias" wheels. Now I know what classifies a wheel as either bias or radial, and that my Highlander Hybrid has radial wheels. Thanks Michelin 👍🏼
*BIAS PLY tires aren't the substandard product* this very abbreviated video would leave you to believe. They are THE choice to use in tough applications. Motocross, heavy weight cruisers & more. Punctures typically are less likely using the BP type AND when they do occur are MORE likely to be repairable. Some manufactures (Bridgestone) use a RADIAL band over the cross plies to make a hybrid, best of both worlds, they still sell these under a cross ply category though.
Neglected was the singular characteristic of the bias ply tire (or tyre, if you prefer) that the tread with align itself with the road irregularities most noticeable on metal bridge decks. Bias ply tire tread will set itself into the slats of the bridge shifting, sometimes violently, the vehicle side to side. Radial tires do not do this because the sidewalls will flex and return leaving he car above them following a straight line. The stiff sidewall on a bias ply will not flex (hardly) and the car above must move sideways with the sidewall and tire.
If bias plies have generally stiffer sidewalls, why do drag slicks (which are bias ply) produce so much more tire wrinkle than drag radials? And why do drag racers always talk about how bias ply tires have softer sidewalls and are more forgiving on the launch? I mean they're obviously more forgiving because they wrinkle, the tire works like a shock absorber for the torque. But why can bias plies do that better than radials?
The front tire size 100/90 19 seem to be only available in bias-ply, do you know why ? I just bought a 2020 Tiger 900 GT (i love her) & stock tires are a Radial 150/70R17 rear & a Bias-Ply 100/90-19 front.
Michelin : Canada, Quebec, Montreal. I speak French & English. I am curious & i would like to know why the front tire size 100/90-19 is not available in a Radial tire : only bias-ply tires in that size! Why?
The design of our 100/90-19 bias ply front tires for this application are to coincide with the manufacturer's vehicle design to use a bias ply front and radial rear as original equipment.
You legends. A modern video on this was way overdue. Thanks.
+!!!!!

Tire. the black round rubber circles are the tires, the shiny metal things things you bolt to your car are the wheels
Thank you.you made it so easy to understand the difference between radial and bias tyre.

Thanks, Michelin! I never totally understood the differences between cross ply and radial ply, but I do now!

Thanks Michelin! With the kind of animation you put in there, it was quite a breeze to understand the difference. Good job!
Pretty comprehensive. Solved my issue regarding their differences. Thanks.
I had no idea what the difference was. Great video
The problem is when you look at tyres on the Michelin website whether a tyre is bias or radial isn't mentioned.
excellently explain👍👍👍
Clear and great explanation
Excellent technical information.
Nice my dout is clear
I'm from India Hyderabad

Remarkable ! Thank You for uploading !
What sort of moderate speed are you talking about when it comes to the bias tyre?
Thank you for this!
Nice explanation!
Very good review!
Thanks for your clear explanation
😀
thank you, what a good explanation
Nice knowledge
Thanks for this
Thanks!
Great Explanation, thanks
Nicely explain 👍👍
Good Video
Amazing video.
Awesome explanation and unbiased Ad... way to go✌✌✌
bias same as cross ply?
Yes
Yes. It's called cross because of the way the carcass is arranged. A Cross like pattern.
good video
The Best tire always michellin !
on cars yes, on bikes no.
Is repairing puncture in both tyres same?
I mean, technically you break more plies in a radial drilling them, but you lose more integrity in a bias
But can we use radial tyres on bike which has bias tyres as stock
My 2020 Triumph bike with tube spoke wheels came iout of the factory on bias front tyres and radial rears.....why would that be.
very useful
Amazing
Can I load 100kg weight on bike and go for touring on radial tyres?
Upon exiting of a turn the radial tire can become dangerous and unstable.
Thank U
thnx
Thanks now i know😊

Hello,
Where do you live (Country)?

Michelin : thanks; i think i will give a try to your Anakee Adventure tired when stock tires will be dead
what is bias belted?
