VINCULOS 2018 CLOSING CONCERT FILLED WITH COLORS AND WARMTH REFLECTION OF INDONESIA - SPAIN CLOSE RELATIONSHIP
OCAS ORCHESTRA AMAZED AUDIENCE AT TEATER BESAR TIM, WITH COLLABORATIVE SONGS AYO MAMA, SAMPESUVU ROA & SATELLITE OF ZAPIN
Jakarta, August 21, 2018. The final concert in the Vinculos for Indonesia 2018 tour by Ocas Orchestra from the town of Asturias, Spain amazed around 1,000 people who flocked Teater Besar Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on Monday evening. After performing in Ambon, Maluku; Palu, Sigi and Parigi Moutong in Central Sulawesi; and Pekanbaru in Riau, Ocas concluded its tour with a final concert, collaborating with Riau Rhythm Chambers. The concert played a repertoire full of colors and diversity, from compositions from Asturias and Andalusia in Spain to Maluku folk and popular songs, songs in Kaili language, Palu, and Malay songs.
Several moments made the final concert extra special, including an impromptu performance by Deputy Mayor of Palu, Sigit Purnomo, or Pasha Ungu, who sang Sampesuvu Roa, a song in Kaili language from Central Sulawesi accompanied by Ocas. The audience was presented with a music performance which touched the heart. Ocas also succeeded in getting the audience to participate when they played the song Ayo Mama, a very popular folk song from Maluku. Not only that, the jazz musician, Adra Karim was asked to collaborate, and the performance of Riau Rhythm Chambers led by Rino Dezapaty, the composer who also wrote the songagu Satellite of Zapin, really won the hearts of the audience.
Director General of Culture of the Education and Culture Ministry, Hilmar Farid, PhD. said, “We are grateful and happy that the Vinculos untuk Indonesia 2018 series of concerts have been so full of love and enthusiasm. Orquesta De Camara De Siero (Ocas / Siero Chambers Orchestra) received warm welcome wherever they went and performed in Indonesia, from Ambon, Maluku to Palu, Sigi and Parigi Moutong in Central Sulawesi and in Pekanbaru, Riau.” The close friendship between Indonesia and Spain is clearly reflected in the final concert; everyone involved seemed not to want the moment to end, stated Hilmar.
Ocas director and conductor, Manuel Angel Paz Vasquez, said the performances and collaboration with Kakoya and Tahuri musical ensemble from Ambon, Pedati studio from Central Sulawesi and Riau Rhythm Chambers had been a very impressive experience. It proves that music is a truly universal language that helps the two countries become closer.
Vinculos Untuk Indonesia 2018 final concert performed some songs that Ocas also performed in their other concerts, like the songs Ayo Mama from Maluku and Sampesuvu Roa and Posisani from Central Sulawesi. The concert opened with the performance from Riau Rhythm Chambers that played four original compositions: Lukah Gila, Pencalang, Svara Jiva and 3D Dentang Denting Dentung. Ocas Orchestra played a repertoire of Spanish songs and compositions, including Fuentes de las Lagrimas, De Norte a Sur, Malaguerias and Itimaz. Ocas then closed the concert with two Malay Riau songs, composed by Riau Rhythm Chambers: Satellite of Zapin and Sound of Suvarnadvipa with dynamic rhythm and beat, as well as melodious and magical-such a fitting end to a remarkable concert!
