  • This is a really easy to follow install video to show you how simple it is to get electrical power in your camper van. I'm not just talking basic 12v power, I'm talking full on 240v power. With Clayton power you don't need to just get rely on 12 volt. You can now run air fryers, induction hobs, hair dryers and so much more, all off grid. Plus with the super fast charging from you alternator and solar, you don't need as much storage as you think.
    In this video we show you how simply it is to connect to the vehicle battery, plug sockets, solar panel, 12 volt fuse board and ignition live. We hope we've set it out so you can pause it part way through to work on your own van, then come back to it for the next stage of your build.
    The same principles apply whether you are building a VW Transporter camper, Ford Transit, Crafter / Man TGE, Vivaro, Boxter, any campervan at all.
    Clayton power have made campervan electrics so simply. All of the big conversion companies are now installing these over 12v and gas set ups. They are time, cost, weight and space saving over running separates, plus you don't have to have gas installed anymore. With this much power, a neat simply indication hob, is all your need to cook. Plus you can always add an air fryer for those addition home comforts.

    By the way, you can go higher than 400w... in fact in domestic PV installs its recommended to go 1/3 higher than your MPPT can charge at. It means you are more likely to hit the limit. It won't damage an MPPT, it just means its max current is 15amps.

    Great bit of kit, it’s a shame that they don’t make it a bit wider and flatter to fit under the front seat. It’s just once you’ve got this installed taking up space in the rear somewhere and all that empty space where the leisure batteries used to live

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello. I see what you mean but it would be a struggle to fit all thats needed in that space. The front print is way smaller than it would be for a separates system that offered the equivalent

    What are they like for reliability being you have everything running in one unit compared with a Victron setup.

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very good and so much less complication. I'd like a victron set up, 1 component failed (eg solar input) everything still functions as it should. Their customer service is incredible too. We've had 1 fault unit so far out of hundreds, they replaced it next day.

    Do you need the van ignition on to use the clayton power unit? Seen as you run the signal cable to the vans fusebox/ignition live.

    2. How does the Clayton Power compare to the EcoFlow Power Hub which is EcoFlows all-in-one electrical system?

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ecoflow just aren't cut out for this type of use. They're a great mobile pack. One of the biggest issues is how long they take to charge. Clayton are like no other with how fast they charge DC - DC and solar.

    • @THQAutomotive

      No I'm afraid not. There is just so much in that unit it's not possible to make it that smaller. It is considerably smaller and lighter than the same sort of set up if you have all these components as separates.
