Well said. Naltrexone is such a great tool for AUD, but freedom from AUD is much more likely to come, and come faster, in combination with other tools.
I was still pretty heavily drinking on naltrexone, even though it was clearly causing me not to enjoy it nearly as much. With a little nudging from my addiction counselor, I decided to try a week alcohol free. Previously I would have looked forward to the end of that week. But this time after about 4 days AF I had little interest in going back to drinking. I still have not after five weeks, and have no intention to. I'd already laid some groundwork for being AF through some of the things you talked about and it really paid off.
I still get urges, but they're fleeting, and tend to get cancelled out by other sub/semi-conscious motivations that are hard to articulate. Days when I realize it's hours after "drink o'clock" and I hadn't even thought about drinking are becoming common.
Thanks for the work you do. Your interviews with people who had used the sinclair method for AUD were indispensable for me.
