  • A pair of explosive World Title main events will thrill fight fans all around the world at ONE 160: Ok vs. Lee II!
    At the top of the card is an epic rematch for the ONE Lightweight World Championship, with reigning kingpin Ok Rae Yoon defending the belt against the man he won it from, Christian Lee. Their first fight ended in a razor-close decision, so this time, each man promises to finish this bout in decisive fashion.
    Knockout artists explode into action in the co-main slot, as ONE Featherweight World Champion Thanh Le takes on Chinese juggernaut Tang Kai. Le has responded coolly to Tang’s trash talk so far, but things are bound to heat up once the fight begins.

    It seems like Thanh Le came into the fight ready to lose. If you're losing and you have 2 minutes left, you go all out, you don't gauge your punches. Le's corner strategy was just bad. Le barely threw any kicks, didn't mix up strikes. Spent 5 rounds just trying to setup one punch knockout. But, he's still amazing at his age up against a much younger fighter. I think Le could have won if he stuck to what he normally does, mixing up kicks and strikes from all different angles. This fight looked like a fight between an MMA fighter and a boxer, Le being the boxer.

    • @jbgtly4930
      @jbgtly4930 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanh Le was all around bad in this fight. Its like he forgot what got him there. His kicks are what set up his hands, and vis versa. Also his distance management was terrible. Kai was constantly moving into striking range and Le would just freeze up like he was just waiting for the leg kick. Not sure what was up with him, but this was by far the worst I've ever seen him fight.

    • @ant4616
      @ant4616 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jbgtly4930 It's actually surprising Thanh Le is so durable since he have never gotten out of the 3rd round his entire career all ending with knockouts. But Tang Kai is too quick for him, one side we never seen from Kai is his movement, and he move as quick as a flyweight, it's not that Thanh Le is bad, is that he somewhat got outclassed.

  • @gopher4life1
    @gopher4life1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanh Le's corner did not help him after the 1st round as he did not adjust to Kai's strategy. He should be going into rd 5 and fought like he did with 30 secs left. In the few short bursts where he and Kai brawled, he actually did much better...that's how he won against Martin. Instead, he kept his distance, then lunged in for a punch or two, and then got picked apart by Kai. Maybe Kai was right about Le, he just doesn't have a drive to win at 36 yrs old. Also, Le said he was cerebral fighter....not sure he understood what cerebral meant. A cerebral fighter will adjust and adapt. :)

      Easier said than done one mistake for either of these heavy hitters and it can be lights out. High kicks ultimately are also high risk moves.

      @@alhkcblack9617 It would pretty easy as Thanh le would close the gap and force tang to circle out while being against the cage. There were many times where tang would circle out with his hands low or almost turning away from than le. At one point in the fight there was a pause where Thanh le had pushed tang against the cage forcing tang to circle out but tang and le would look at each other with tang having his hand down. It felt awkward as I have seen this exact sequence happen so many times with the main difference being that pause was replaced with kick against the person circling away from the cage. He should have kicked more as when he did, they landed for the most part pretty clean. Even though the problem is that Thanh le would throw one naked power shot even when it was clear he wasn't getting that much success. If he used straight punches, combinations, kicks, and his grappling more he would have had high chance of beating tang who was on a bicycle the whole time.

      @@icelly3380 I saw those awkward pauses between exchanges too. I think a way to think about it is, risk, every tactic or strategy has holes and there's lots of risk involved in making commitments so there was hesitation. Especially against very smart, fast and strong opponents you can't afford mistakes. It was scary. You mentioned Why do those single power shots when you can go in with combos kicks and take downs. The reason is simply it drains your gas tank to kick if it misses and leaves you unbalanced and open, combos and take downs can get stuffed. Especially since Tang is a top wrestler he couldn't take him down and keep him there anyway. If you are already tired and slowed down by the leg kicks it's gonna be worse if some of the combos didn't turn out as expected and he'll gas out even faster. In the end his gas tank wasn't big enough to keep up with youth and the leg kicks took their total. He wanted the big shot to take out Tang but couldn't make it happen.

      I hate early stoppage in any fight, but if ref did not stop the Christian Lee fight, Ok might not fight again due to those knee. That's what I like about "ONE", the knee on downed opponent rule is a game changer in MMA fighting strategy.

      I agree. What’s amazing too, if you rewatch, is I think that Herb would have stopped it if Elliot simply walked away after face planting him, b/c Batur sure seemed out. It looks like Elliot’s extra ground & pound actually woke him back up, which ultimately saved him. Wild fight!

    Thanh Le is the most aggressive champ I’ve seen. Props to him for trying to keep the fight entertaining when the challenger wasn’t coming forward. Tang will be a boring champ, and he’ll likely get caught by someone with a grappling style instead of Le’s tkd style.

He might be a young fighter, but his skill set and speed speak for themselves. For the future rematch, Thanh Le needs to check or to learn how to check those Muay Thai leg kicks. If not, the outcome will be the same again.

    One Championship need to improve their judging/judges, a challenger should be the aggressor, going after the champion, but again saw where challenger that spent alot of time running from the title holder and get the win. One seems to encourage bad judging to get a bigger drawing for the rematch..Sad..
