Everytime you guys put out a video it’s like a new episode of a good HBO show for me. This channel is really what TH-cam should be for. I love the passion your team puts into this, the research, and the effort to include all of these wonderful reenactors. Thanks for doing what you do!
The word for ambush in latin is "insidio" also meaning treachery, so you can guess what romans thought about asymmetrical warfare and being sneaky in general
Best one so far, the English Civil War video is second best I’d say. Really interesting as I’d never even heard of the Roman Special Forces before. Quality of the editing, presentation and research is only getting better with each release!
And instead of this, schools get paperwork. Petition to make this curriculum Also very interested to hear about The Scipios. They were a little later than the 0-100 ADs (146 AD was Scipios Dream) but still very important to understand Roman military back.
Yes! I always get super hyped when I see one of your uploads! Im just halfway in but I think its gonna be an amazing video, who would have guessed after everyone before it was just a masterpiece... Anyway thank you so much for your great work guys/gals/gils?(debate is still out on that one)
I wonder if Arminius was in fact killed by such band of warriors, sources name them as a band of roaming Germans, but what if they were in fact Roman operatives. Also, the death of Ariovustus occurred under similar circumstances
The Roman Special Forces are just guards who the king told them "Why did you let them escape and not fall on your sword for failing me! I will order your googlewon'tletmesaythatword at once!" Who figured out that all they have to say is "Wait, my king, please hear our cry. Let us kill or recapture them, or die trying." So they are the most dedicated men on all of known Eurasia.
No I definitely couldnt, not now anyways. The average mf legionary marched 17 miles every day with almost 100 lbs of gear IN SANDALS and then they built forts at night. Absolute units
I'm not entirely sure about the definition of modern special forces. Many of the attributes illustrated like plausible deniability or operating without umbilical cord seem more on the side of Spionage than Military tasks. Yes, SOF do operate rather autonomously and self-sustained but they are marked combatents and so if caught can't pretend to be someone else.
Just watched Gladiator 2 🤮. God, I wish Hollywood would take more note of reenactors; the real deal looks so much better and more dramatic than the drabness they drape Romans in.
As far as I know: Arminius was the Prefect of the cavallery and they were used to scout with their horses on the march. The point is, that Arminius was the Traitor and so there was no Scouting at all and they didnt know they marched into an ambush. But your statement sound like the Romans never scoutet before 9 A.D., which is absolutely wrong. Or do you have any evidence for this statement? Surely they changed the style of scouting and focused more on it after the desaster in 9 A.D.

As a German, I disagree with the barbarian village…

Brilliant video as always! Perhaps a Rorke’s Drift or Zulu War related video in the future?

The word for ambush in latin is "insidio" also meaning treachery, so you can guess what romans thought about asymmetrical warfare and being sneaky in general
Yet another great episode, thumbs up.

Thanks very much! Good to have a Celtic perspective on it.
Undisputed best page on TH-cam rn
Very kind thank you!
After Cocomelon, then yes
And instead of this, schools get paperwork. Petition to make this curriculum

Scipios (if you want them around the time of Scipio Afracanus) we're BC not AD. Right year otherwise I think.
Finally!! A new Survive History episode. Do you guys plan on doing episodes around the world ? Like about the Mongol empire and the celts?
"Special forces are a form of foreign policy" was a take I didnt expect but it makes sense
This is brilliant video ❤🎉
Thanks so much!

Rome TW Arcani ftw
Respawned made me laugh bro 😂
bit of a shame that this guy is considered the foremost expert as he has gotten several practical things wrong in past episodes
Never fail at surprising me xd
I was just thinking about the Roman Empire.
Could you Survive the Battle of Agincourt?
Ah to be one of the Emperor's Finest.
The Roman Special Forces are just guards who the king told them "Why did you let them escape and not fall on your sword for failing me! I will order your googlewon'tletmesaythatword at once!"

Caligae are not sandals tho. Those are ancient military boots
But in the netherlands its my bed time no
This concept is begging for a movie
Only if Robert Eggers does it
How much influence have the actors concerning their "lines"? (I presume there is a script)
* FIRST!!!
*not the first
Awesome video btw ❤
RSAS/RSBS, like it.
AWESOMEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
E X P L O R A T O R E S!!
Keep it up

Woud love to be an “elite” cavaryman during the 3rd century.
I don’t think Roman commanders used the word “oi”
Frumentarii. same as dudes in Fallout New Vegas?
So...Roman ninja?
Yes, yes I could.
Oh you mean “SURVIVE”….no, no I could not…
Where is this Roman fort?
Park in the Past near Wrexham!
Long live Rome.
Yes I would have survived.

Espionage and Intel gathering. Second oldest profession on earth.
Nah probably not.
Fun larp
43 seconds ago is mad, first comment 😜😂
Oof but got the second comment in the list
Love the enthusiasm! 😂
I would suggest to a Roman military spy not to wear roman kit or weapons.
