Another good guide. I mained Soriz in the previous game, & got to B rank. I've done training for many games, & did Situational Training for this one so far (still have more). Combos I get are from trials and/or vids. Sounds useful not focusing too much on them. With so many moves & characters, it can be tough to know what to focus on & how to deal w/them. 🙂Fun vid.
Thank you for making another awesome video! My biggest weaknesses now are blockstrings and hitconfirming so the tips will help me out tremendously. Thank you again for making these videos, you're a live saver ❤
I agree 100%, this is the best way to do it. However the reason i got hooked into training mode was combo practice in the first place, though it eventually developed into a bad habit. All i'm saying is, if you want to like training, treat it like a minigame or grinding in rpg, do it at a steady pace and lookback at how much has changed. That's the best part.
Yo unironically I do this too. I love sitting in the lab and just testing all sorts of scenarios just because it's important to test what you can and cannot do with your character(s) in multiple courses of a match. Just don't forget to play the game!
This started off as a "how to properly use training mode" but turned into "How to do Narmaya setups". Definitely appreciate the knowledge, and you've got some good things to say for players at a variety of skill levels, but my one recommendation would be try to stick to universal terminology when explaining the progression of your concepts. For example, when you were talking about using Narmaya's slash skill at the end of the chain to cover your negative combo, you could instead encourage players to "Find skills that you can special cancel into, which cover your negative frames." It's subtle, but if someone doesn't know what you're teaching already, they may not understand how to translate your principles (which were solid!) to their character. Immediately after, you starting talking about crouch specific tech and Flip-mix, which all characters can't necessarily do. Great video though, and thank you for the time and effort!
Honestly thanks a lot for the feedback. Sometimes i get carried a way and I'm pretty new to this TH-cam thing so I'll definitely try to keep that in mind moving forward.
@@SemiQuest You did great bro, and I definitely plan to check out more of your stuff! You're definitely getting a like from me and Good luck on your future content creation!
Dude, you're honestly the only person who has actually explained why you want to do anything for the characters you've covered already. I want to know how you'd do Anila. I'm struggling so hard to remotely understand this game and I'm just super lost. 😓I think with her atm I think I've won 4 of about 110 games. I don't really understand defense either, to what I think is pressure just ends in me being smashed or for people doing basically nothing I get slapped either way.
I'll work on something for you. Got a lot of requests at the moment. I will also be working on general gamplay tips/guides so that will definitely help.
Personally I love to check frame data and certain stuff as well as labbing original combo routes. This game isn't that great for either of those considering granblue combos are generally more flow charty than some other fighters I play(namely sf4, sf6 in terms of combo freestyling) and the frame data tool isn't as robust as something like sf6's frame data tool, but I think it is still a great place and game to try out these things as knowing how and what to lab is a highly transferable skill that you can directly take to pretty much every fighting game ever. This does bring me onto one feature I would really being added to gbvsr, that being the "train with your opponent's char" option at the end of a set in ranked and other modes, this would just be a massive QoL improvement to learning how to deal with gimmicks, as the current method of having to exit to char select and reload training mode everytime you want to switch to the char you just played against is pretty long and slow.
I just discover your channel about making guides for some gbvsr characters, i myself are never been good before in fighting games but i'm willing to give another try for this game since i played the mobile browser game ones, and could you maybe make a video about Uno (Anre in English name, Uno is what they called in JP since all Eternals JP names are based from numbers 1-10 from different languages) Edit : i've played the GBVS before but i gave up bcs the game feels not rewarding for people who never play fighting games before and i bought the DLC's bcs i could use those bonus codes for the mobile games one lol
I'm the opposite of the example you gave in fighting games- I usually just want to play for the mind games and find to process of learning combos very slow & tedious- it means I have to be VERY invested in a game before I start labbing combos....!
Yeah lol, I think the main thing i often see is people are one of the extremes. Never lab or Only lab. Not going to lie I have played some fighting games where I never have even played the game I just labbed and got bored of labbing.@@poeticider
Narmaya is so deep. I love it, this game is so nice coming from tekken its so intresting. Blocking is also very good, I find it difficult to punish some ultis xd
I used to say im a beginner in fg but its been 5 years ive been casually playing so i guess i cant say im a beginner anymore, i'm just a bad player. I discovered your channel through your Vira guide because i'm currently stuck in B2 (and it was already very hard to get there for me lol) and discovering this kind of video is really incredible Thanks a lot
I'm definitely going to make more general guides so feel free to ask for a topic to be covered. Also trying to figure out logistics on how to do viewer replay analysis videos.
I do think people fall into the training mode trap a lot. I believe the BEST way to actually improve is to play a lot of matches. During your matches, take notes of things you need to lab. (Combos you keep dropping, moves you fail to punish, etc) And after playing matches, you can do some training mode with a real purpose instead of blindly labbing stuff. Experience in real matches is THE important thing for getting better at any fighting game, training mode is there to smooth out your rough edges.
Dont all characters characters play very similarly? I heard the depth this game has but so far almost all characters do the autocombo into combo extender into combo+skill. (Im a noob so thats what I felt so far)
At the most basic new player level yes I would say that is true. Once you get into the game more I would say that's less true but it is character dependent as some characters like Cagliostro have combo routes that end in trap setups to keep pressure, or some characters like narmaya (my main) have to squeeze in lot of specials into a combo making them very different from other character's combos. Also each character has different goals in how they win, but overall the game is pretty aggressive and system mechanics like 66L are strong so it might feel like that as a new player.

Labbing so fun. My character guides are me mostly labbing characters which I already do for myself.
*fails math test* welp mom, guess i cant go outside and play this weekend. Id much rather study math anyway 🤷🏽♂️🤣

I agree. I live for footsies, predictions and downloading the opponent rather than long elaborate combos.
Good to hear, hope these guides can help you in some way as well. I'm a lab monster myself lmao.

Cagliostro guide soon ? 🤔
Finished script going to record and get it out as soon as possible. Might do a little more labbing but it coming soon.

100% agree. Made the video after because I am making guides for the characters but hope people don't just take what I teach and only lab.
Although that’s true it’s best to lab to be consistent in execution than playing actual games to know when to best utilize these combos efficiently
Would love a metera guide, there's literally nothing on yt right now just replays
I'll definitely write it down on the priority list and get to it as soon as possible.

1-2 midscreen bnbs and 2 corner bnbs
Thats all the combos an mf needs
Lab your confirms, and lab what the enemy does that fucks you up after a match
