I am totally here for you obsessively filling out the encyclopedia. This kinda content is perfect to knit to, especially with how much you're loving the game and the fab voice acting you're doing for all the characters. Oh, and don't worry, the handkerchief was a one-off; you get all the other artifacts by doing lil quest type things. You can just sell the aberrations.
@@celloafterdark4173 Yeah, I get why they chose that to kick the artifact quests off, but unless you carefully read the quest instructions and realise that the rest are all dredging related it's confusing. 😆
So happy to finally see you playing this! Just wanted to let ya know that there is no "cut-off" time for when you have to be back, like in Stardew. Just know that the later and longer you're out, the more your panic meter will go up and the more likely you are to encounter... things, but that's all I'll say on that :P I'm so happy you're enjoying it so far! There's many more mysteries to dredge up from the depths, and I eagerly await the new uploads!
@@corning1Fishing and exploring make up the core gameplay. There is a bit of an eldritch story/atmosphere, but if you're not a fan of fishing or exploration, this game might not be your cup of tea.
nothing's better than john being genuinely invested in a game and having fun doing whatever, after thousands of crappy horror games some well deserved little joys come lol
There are some timed quests in the game, but just don't talk to them and it won't start the timer. You can find people alone on islands sometimes; if you talk to them it starts their timer. You know watching him play reminded me how good the music is, I love the piano pieces.
Saw this, instant click. Love Dredge and have enjoyed other playthroughs in the past, and it seems like it would fit your style of commentary really well. Excited to see it
hey john you can stay up for days really just watch your panic meter and sell your fish before they get stale. also you have room for another engine and a light, the engines stack and the light will help with the fog
Ooh this game looks good. The voice you made for the fishmonger jus zapped me right back to your playthroughs of Inscryption and The Sinking City! I'm glad to see another great game being played on the channel
So excited for your playthrough! The stones that hums, you can get visions by touching them if your panic meter is high enough. The fish do go stale if you don't sell them. Also I hope you have a lot of fun with this game.
This game is like a dream for someone who loved Stardew fishing lol. Also the suggested docking time isn't like in Stardew where you pass out or something, its really just a suggestion because of sanity and whatnot. Great playthrough! I really hope it continues.
I picked this game up randomly a while back, and its remained one of my favorite indy titles. From the art style, to the storyline, to the gameplay, its all just such a treat to take in. Seeing others enjoy it as much as I do warms me to the core.
I’m so glad you decided to pick up this game! I heard about it from Gab when she played the demo and obsessively 100% it since I enjoyed it so much. Have yet to play the DLC but you’ve inspired me to do it this week! A few other people mentioned it, but just to stack- you can stay out later, it just makes the eye icon go crazy and depleting a fishing spot isn’t going to ruin fish spawning. Have so much fun playing this game! It’s amazing! I can’t wait for your next video. :c)
For the relics, you dredge shipwrecks, not fish and it will be very obvious if you found the correct piece. The rest of the trinkets you find, you can sell. Also if you wanna see some of the horror stuff, stay out at night. You don’t have to be back by a certain time. It’s just the longer you stay in the dark, the more sanity you lose.
I had a blast playing Dredge last year, such a fun and anxiety inducing game lmao. I hope you end up liking it. I thought the story was actually quite engaging, the mystery of it all really hooked me Edit: Just wanted to add, engines and lights stack. So if you have space for two, three etc cheap engines on your ship, their speeds stack up to a higher speed overall. I had my little boat zooming around, nearly crashing into rocks 😂😂
Honestly one of my fav indie games of last year. But 3 things to help, not backseating just helping I promise. 1. As you now know you have to equip the books everytime, but they help so much! 2. Pursuits don't overlap, so you can tell how much is left to do from the board, and they aren't all required unless you're 100% the game. 3. Lastly, fish have conditions, fresh, stale and rotten, you get more money for the fresher fish. The game is best experienced blind. So no spoilers here. Hope this info helps.
I’m sure it won’t do you any good to tell you now but you can combine engines if you have space. The junk one added to your other would give you a boost. Depleted spots do eventually come back. Midnight doesn’t really matter. You can get gotten by the dark as soon as it’s dark.
This game looks pretty fun actually. I think after watching john enjoy this game makes me think I'll enjoy it as well I'll have to check this out when I'm done with my jedi survivor playthrough which will probably take a while 😂 but I think this game is on sale on the playstation store I'll have to pick it up and check it out later and meanwhile see more of what it has to offer through john
I've been furiously playing through this game the past few days to be ready for your playthrough. Glad to see that you are loving it so far! It has definitely lived up to the hype imo.
I'm so happy you're doing this one! I've been SUPER interested in getting it (I mean, Stardew fishing mated with Cthulthoid elements... how can one NOT be?) but wasn't sure if my hands could 'handle' it. And I didn't want to watch someone else play it. Now this'll tell me if it's doable - Thank You much-ly, John!
One of my favorite series of yours! I havent finished watching the full playthrough, need to watch the last couple. But, Ive actually been watching these early episodes as part of my nightly wind-down. Very relaxing! Keep up the great work bro
So excited to see you play through this! Some tips I wish I knew that the game never really got into- You can stay out til whenever, but your sanity suffers. The eye shows your panic level. Touching the rock doesn't work unless you're red eyed. Whispers go away if you turn out your light. Good luck out there!

when you deplete a fishing spot you just have to wait a day or so and it will come back eventually but it's best if you keep them low. Are you going to play more of darkest dungeon 2? There has been tons of updates and are you, Kravin, Sinow, and Jake going to do another darkest dungeon 2 collab like dd1?
I'm so glad you're playing this after they modified the robed figure pursuits!! You should definitely stay out more during the night and go back to the rock when you are at full panic ;)
Glad you're finally playing this, it was so much fun. As soon as I heard you said you had to be back by midnight, like stardew valley, I cringed. With how quickly you were like “I’m all in” when you saw how many fish there were in the game, it made me think, I don’t know if you’ve ever played RDR2, but I get the feeling you’d enjoy it even if only to max out the compendium. That game truly lets you say “progress the main story? No thank you, I will actually be birdwatching and collecting herbs and fishing until the very end of time :-)” I also am just obsessed w that game and am probably always looking for opportunities to recommend it, don’t @ me 😭
