Thanks for sharing this my earliest child hood memories was when I was in Blackpool in 1992 as a 4 year old brings back great memories of people who aren’t here now
Thank you so much, my grandparents would take me to the see the lights when I world stay with them every year in cleveleys. I always remembered the set of lights at 40.07, I’ve been searching for footage of them for over a decade, and I’ve now seen them again for the first time in 30 years! I never thought I would ever see them again!
I remember going on a coach trip to the Illuminations from Liverpool in late October 1994 as a child, it literally poured down with rain all night but we still had a memorable time of it. Went to the fair and they gave us all the clear rain cover mackintosh's, we had a right ball lol
What a thoroughly entertaining video, I enjoyed listening to the conversation more than the lights! The illuminations these days are beautiful but there isn’t as much for kids as there was back in 1992. Fantastic upload! 👍
This is how i remember the lights when i was a child, the last time i went a few yrs ago they had none of the big illuminatuons all down the side of the road, i couldn't believe how it had changed, its a wonder anyone even goes anymore
This made me cry 😢 , so many memories of that time and I always remember the illuminations being so bright and colourful not like that anymore and watching this video has truly confirmed my memories 😢 I wish we could go back to that time
The lights where magical back in t day now there awful nothing like bk then..I talk about t teddy bear picnic lights and no one these days seems to know how sad bcos they where amazing
@@nuttyteenutzznuttyteenutzz3598 yea everywhere we looked out of the window you were blinded by colour and lit up taxis and trams and the buzz of the atmosphere was superb 👌 Did the Teddy bears picnic get damaged in a storm? I know one of the sets did , I went through the other night and they were testing the lights on. Your right they don't compare now to what they once were
What I like about these illuminations is that there are so many varieties in themes and colours and some of these lights gave off a form of animation which is great. It's a shame that the illuminations today lack this kind of variety especially in themes and colours. They are now just plain, basic and boring and what is also sad is they don't even bother replacing the lights that don't work.
@@Spindler2007 6 years ago last time i was Blackpool, pretty sure the lights were digital by then, the lights seem lot brighter, yes i did like the old style like a moving animation, havent toured the lights in about 20 years, would be good if some of the old style was kept with new style, first time i visited Blackpool 30 years ago, the animation kept adults as well as children attracted
Ohhh this brought so many lovely memories back. Thanks so much for posting, enjoyed the laughs too .. have shared xx Carolyn

When the Lights were brilliant and worth visiting.

@@Colin21454 You're welcome. What are your thoughts on the illuminations of today?

@@Colin21454 Yeah. If they had kept some of the old style, the illuminations today probably would have been better.
@@Spindler2007 A few others have commented similar about the lights being rather bland now, obvious new ideas are needed to attract the visitors
Notice there was no Big One roller coaster here.
About 2 years later the big one, thanks comment Christopher
So much better than the embarrassing lights now.
Just a random guess....are you from Newcastle ?
No mate, South Wales here
