      Xu Shu First you have to get accepted at the school and go through the training. You will receive addition training when you get to the job. You can get into the school with no prior experience, but there are people who go to college ATC programs as well as controllers from the military who apply.The best way to find all the info you need is to look on the FAA website or the website for the school in Oklahoma. Good luck.

    Why cant AI do that job? A cluster of computers can track and send multiple instructions to multiple planes vs humans who can only speak to one plane at a time.

      Some onboard systems like TCAS, TACAN, and ILS all help to avoid collision and land safely along with ATC's

      still need to hire programmers to monitor the AI

    • @myebbad
      @myebbad ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We don’t even have full automation together in cars. You think “AI” at this point can control air traffic.
      I don’t know if understand the pure scale and cost at implementing a fully automated unmanned airport.

    • @StevePalmer92s
      @StevePalmer92s 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RichKilla86ers yea, system would be not replace controllers, but turn controllers into monitors.
      Personally, I don't even predict we would need less. However, we would need what we have now, which already is a shortage. 2 ways to fix shortage problem: hire more or automations and use what we have.
      I think it's possible to take repetitive, low risk tasks off ATCs to do manually, so they can oversee the system to ensure it's operating properly and they still get final say. This helps so they can focus on high priority clustered areas, or operations during bad weather, or high priority alerts.
      Or in general leverage new tech ML and AI to help with situational awareness. From a tower, you can see planes, but you have no idea the seperation between them (hence wings clip like they did in Boston few weeks ago) or runway incursion where a aircraft accidently comes onto the wrong runway (happens often oddly).
      I think it's possible, tbh. I am exploring right now how feasible it is and what micro problems to start off with.

    • @StevePalmer92s

      @@myebbad I think you have a point and I agree: impossible to go from 0 t 100 for AUAs. (industry likes acronyms lol). However, lets go from 0 o 10? Just like anything historically has ever done to make progress, even in this industry does with implementation of TCAS, ADSB, Datalink, etc etc.
      To your point comparing cars - aircrafts in sky are much easier to manager than cars on road. Reasons:
      (1) only focusing on aircraft to aircraft distances. No pedestrians to mess things up, which is often common reasons for accidents
      (2) skys to have highways (vectors) that aircrafts go on, so it's not free for all. Just like cars essentially
      (3) seperating is much bigger than cars and you'd have time to trigger a pilot to make changes to altitude, speed, and direction. Faster than you do with cars on roads
      (4) if you need to install a system to help make this happen on aircrafts, there is only primary 2 you have to work with (Airbus and Boeing) vs 10s of models of cars you'd have to all get on the same system, which is likely impossible.
      (5) ATCs are a very high salary individuals, so we can't just expect with rise in aviation, the solution is to always keep hiring more ATCs. Gotta work with less eventually. Not scalable model IMO.
      I know I am only pointing out pros, but there are likely equally amount of cons.
      I just mean to say, yes it's feasible to have full automation in aircrafts. Heck with autopilot pilots already are monitoring vs controlling the plane between depart and arrivals. Why not offer similar systems to ATCs?
