I don't know how they've managed to keep their prices down, but Firefly continues to provide beautiful, unique guitars at prices that almost any guitarist can afford. With the new neck pocket cut-away, this guitar is even better than before. I apologize for my blues attempt.

Looks like this is Firefly's take on a Les Paul Modern (they even used the same neck joint).
It's cool to see what kind of stuff the more affordable brands are doing in order to attract more buyers
Haven't played for almost 15 years after having played for 40 years. Looks like Firefly will be my go-to brand if I feel the urge to start back in. And I've been feeling the urge lately. Maybe because I'm getting old and playing well again will be my "swan song".

I just started after a really long break. The gear is amazing and affordable. This with some Joyo and your spending less than we use to have to spend just for an amp or a guitar or a couple of pedals.

I got this exact model about two or three months ago and it is such an improvement over the FFLP I got two years ago I sold the old one. This is a really good guitar and I would recommend it
I bought that same exact FFLPS in the light blue metallic a few months ago and was blown away. I was expecting to get that same natural finish on the back like yours, however, mine is more of a transparent, dark walnut color. It’s absolutely gorgeous!!!! On top of it all, the setup is pretty damn good and that relief cut on the back of the neck is mint. Love the videos bro!! Keep ‘em coming.

I recently got one of the FFLPS in metallic red and it's amazing. I'm in the process right now of putting In a set of EMG James Hetfield "HET SET" pickups and all electronics. I also ordered a Graph Tech bridge for it. I was blown away with how good this guitar is. I did not like the electronics but I planned on that it's just a great guitar. The setup even was good the neck is pretty flat might need a little relief and the action is medium to low. I love it I ordered 2 FFLX guitars one in Transparent red and one in Grayburst I was so impressed with this guitar. Better get them while you can. Great video Max!!

Kramer sells a mahogany body for $130 retail. A SSH strat, The VT211, comes with alnico pickups also that sound as good as aftermarket ones...
I love how these budget/workmen guitars are coming through to complete with the big brands. This shows what you can do with great materials and craftsmanship and NOT add a Premium price for having a 'known' brand printed on the headstock.
I used to see fireflys in the Virginia woods but not out here in the SoCal desert.....no, wait a minute, I have a firefly sitting here in my living room! great guitar by the way.
So these firefly guitars are worth every penny they cost. But They are not great guitars out of the box. I've had a few people I know buy so I've played 4 of them now. and on Each of them I had to do a basic set up, which was expected at that price. I then had to level and polish the frets as they were terrible. That was on all 4. On one of them I replaced everything except the switch and strap buttons, put on grovers, seymore duncan pickups 500k cts pots. Now the one that was fully upgraded ended up a real nice guitar for the price. I will mention I did all the work on it free for a friend so to pay a lutheir might not be worth it. The stock pickups were microphonic on 3 of the guitars aswell. SO while a good value for the price do not confuse it with a higher end guitar. I've seen so many youtubers play these and say how great they are I almost feel like they get cherry picked examples or something.
That's awesome. It's awesome to give people a supremely affordable alternative to the Gibson Les Paul Modern. I clicked on this video bc it looked like the LP Modern I have, and I had to know if it had the neck scoop. It's cool that they included this.

wow 😮 i wish guitars like this was available when i started playing back in 1984 you couldn’t get a playable guitar 🎸 for $200 back then i guarantee that,and getting a verity of lefty’s was nonexistent so nice in 2022 company’s like schecter offers us a verity
Schecters are amazing guitar's , I've had 4 of them at one time or another. They're like Ibanez with quality guitars in every price range!

back then there wasnt a chinese manufacture , if you wanteded a cheep starter you had to go to sears silvertone guitars , not that without some work they couldnt be improved .
The entry level guitars from the 60/70s were way better than today's mid level guitars. I'm sure they could have been had for under $200 since nobody wanted them.
1974 for me, same prob, Rubbish Gats, we scored a Maton from Aussie, worth its weight !
I have two Fireflys and they are a great value! You can't go wrong with a Firefly. I'm getting the Explorer copy next.

I have several Harley Bentons', and now a few Donners, but zero Fireflys.
Going to look into these.

I got a Harley Benton SG and was disappointed. The high E string didn't go over the pole piece on the pickup at all, it was that far off. I have two Fireflys and they seem way better made than the HB.
YOU can't say it, but "I" can... That's a Les Paul Modern in Pelham Blue Metallic for $189!!! And I can't argue with that!!! 😃
I got the P90 loaded model, it has the special heel carve, for easy fret access, one of my favorite guitars,these guitars are modeled on the Gibson modern,mine came with a beautiful rosewood fretboard and really nice fret inlays,this guitar I've got came out about a year before this one with humbuckers.
Good luck getting your hands on one of these . If you’re ok with any color then you might have a chance to buy one . But if you’re into a specific color , this metallic blue for example . You’re going to have a real hard time .
These guitars sell out stupidly fast and only are in stock once every month or so .
My suggestion is to follow a group that is dedicated on following when these guitars are back in stock .
Also, it’s hit or miss . Sometimes the bridge will be uneven ( to wide of a hole and cheaply fixed with saw dust and shims )
Overall , I am happy with my blue berry FFLP. It’s a fucking beast .

Only a couple of the FFLP models have that recess in the neck joint. The majority of them are the standard set neck.
There isn't one shown on their site and it's not listed in any of the specs. I'll wait for current stock to be cleaned out and see it posted and in photos before I risk hoping I get one by accident.

Your blues licks are starting to come along. One thing that helps me with blues is I think of the notes as a heated conversation between two lovers, kinda like bee-bop back and forth. I wish I could shred like you. That's what I have a hard time with. I guess it's either blues or shred that comes naturally to a player. Thanks for your cool vids Bro!
I've heard others say the pickups are not waxed or no good. If that is the case, then your looking at another 100 at minimum. IVY has a PRS style for same price that is probably better quality.

I hear so many people dissing affordable guitars but this one sounds fantastic. I would like to see you play the same licks, same settings on a Les Paul after just to show that most people can't tell the difference. And there would be no difference after a pick up upgrade of the FF. Good channel, love it.
I love my metallic blue Firefly, but this color is the only one in the FFLPS lineup with the heel cutout. For some reason they don’t even show the heel cutout in the pictures, but I assure you that the metallic blue one is the only one with the cutout.
Of the 5 Firefly FFLPSs that I own, this is my favorite.
You were mentioning the Fender Player Series Strat for $800.00. I was at a music store and they wanted $979.00 for it. Same price for a PRS SE Silver Sky guitar.

I just got the same guitar but with P90 pickups. Only some of the colors come with the recessed neck pocket so be sure to check out the pictures before you buy if you want this.
I've heard other good things about Firefly guitars. Another amazing brand, often sold on Amazon, is Grote. When I pulled the trigger on a 335-style one a couple years ago, it was $169, with free Amazon Prime delivery. Since I knew I could return it for free to Amazon if I didn't like it, it was a "no risk" deal. I wanted the Cherry Red model, (I've long wanted a red Gibson ES 335) but all they had was sunburst. When it came in, it was stunning. I took it to my tech for a setup, and expected him to laugh at the brand name......but he was VERY impressed. In fact, he wanted it for himself. I told him if the Cherry Red came back in stock, I'd sell him the sunburst. Luckily, about a week later, the red was available, and I ordered it, and sold him the sunburst. Now, both guitars needed some adjustment and fret leveling to be "gig-ready"......but that's to be expected. I believe they now sell for around $200 on Amazon, but that's still an amazing deal.
I tried a Firefly Les Paul about a week ago and started with an attitude of cheap guitar with cheap components and terrible action and tone…BOY WAS I WRONG!!! This rivals my Gibson Les Pauls and other quality instruments I own. With a few tweaks, I would comfortably gig with a Firefly as a backup or even a main axe. Good job!

Max, how do these firefly guitars stack up against the likes of AIO, Wolf, Ivy, EART, and Harley Benton models. I know each of these manufacturers has questionable quality and higher quality but if we are talking guitars between 200 and 400 bucks how do they fall in rankings? I haven't played a Firefly, but have played offerings from the others I have mentioned and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of craftsmanship and playability. Some have better electronic hardware than others but overall I found nothing with the body or necks that left me saying absolutely not happening. Electronics and hardware such as bridges and tuners are almost negligible considerations unless you are spending 800 or more then you want better quality for your money. I see these more budget friendly guitars as starting points for someone who likes to mod their guitars and doesn't want to spend a fortune on a name brand instrument to only decrease its value by customizing it.

Havent been able to find a lp on guitars gardens website that has the relief cut. Really would like to find one with that and the stainless steel ball end frets they have been doing recently.

I have one of these and it is amazing,they did a really good job on the routes and finish,mine has P90s so I'm not sure when this humbucker model came out,really a well built guitar.

A les paul is always a good choice because the tunomatic bridge ..its easier to get the proper feel to theas guitars all u need is good wood a d descent pickups ...they don't let u down.

I've been holding out to finally buy a more expensive guitar. A few years ago ALL my gear was stolen and It's taken a while to track down some replacements (2 of my guitars I had for over 20 years). Anyway, these reviews you've been doing on the firefly guitars is making me want to take a shot on these instead since I just blew a bunch of money on replacing my washing machine. Lol That Metallic blue looks great and I bet it would look even better if I replaced the black with a vintage cream. Love the channel man.
Let's answer the why first Max. This quality at retail, after being shipped from Chinny, is what it really is worth. Gibby thinks the public dupes. Most headstock owners are. I've Gibby, but for what it is and how it sounds. Did not, wouldn't, buy it new. Did lots of searching due to quality issues till I found it. Was a real hassle. This one, however, is being ordered. MAYBE a pup change due to style. Has a light chime I must admit. Good job Max as always.

Wow! That is a Beautiful LP ! $200.......crazy! I have a Washburn acoustic that's about 30 years old and a Fender Tele. That's 5 years old, a Mexico made which sounds really nice! But have been wanting a Gibson style and sound!!!! Got me really thinking!!!

I got more in parts for my Gibson Les Paul studio. But I also have value if I ever needed to sell. Always makes me wonder if I did myself wrong. But as a kid having posters on my wall now I have a lot of the equipment in my collection that were pictures on the wall. Who cares tho?

I am considering the SG with triple pups. $200 is amazing for these instruments. Buy a G50 amp and a few odds and ends and you are ready to rock.
Been on and off looking for a reason to buy a Firefly, though I couldn't find this neck joint on any of their current LPs. WIll keep looking. Still waiting for them to do some new 338s in natural or other looks that grabs me! Great video though, thanks Max.

I love when people claim they pay $X on a product on Amazon but when you look it up, its about 20% higher. I only found 3 models and they were $219. Mind you, Im looking 3 days after this vid posted.

Oh boy another one I bought this 338 spalted love it had to put a bridge on it then I bought the SG the same one you demoed had to put a bridge on that one too bought the firebird copy love it the most very cool guitar didn't have to change a thing don't have a firefly Les Paul with that one looks pretty good😁
