I just had to take a moment to thank you for all the tutorials you’ve done about the Summit. I learned so many things thanks to you about that brilliant machine. So in two simple words, thank you.
Great video. All nice tricks/tips. Summit's stereo field is really good sounding. Would still be great if they updated with a way to pan the oscillators though (and maybe made it a mod destination).
I’m dying for the feature. I just want a little stereo panning without having to go through all this switching cables around and copying two separate layers and making equal and opposite modulations to each layer. It’s such a pain in the ass. Novation, please give us basic panning in the mod matrix.
I was thinking about it last year since i have a synth that can do that (evolver) and i love it for this. The UDO super 6 and Dave smith Prohphet X came out with this feature cutting the polyphony to half. Come to think of it, I wrote a comment about this on a UDO6 video And just a weeks after, Calc made this video. So maybe we think a like or maybe he read my mind/comment ? BtW, you don’t necessarily need another output (Aux Out) If you have a synth with multitimbral capability that can just pan each part to L/R.
Cool Video, - I wonder.. Have you used the summit as a MIDI controller e.g. playing sample libraries or VTS' as well? - If so - how well does it translate? Would you consider making a video? :) Best Rune
Hey RRBE Sound, thanks for the comment. With the Local Control switched to off Summit could be used as a general controller but it's not really designed for that use case. Personally I wouldn't use it that way, I use the Novation SL MKIII for those duties.
Hi, I have purchased the summit recently and it’s great! But I wonder if I can have piano sound on this device so I practice piano on it. Kind regards from Sweden.
Aren’t the voices summed to mono before they reach the effects? If so, using the delay would be simply delaying a mono signal left and right. I love the idea of patching in the aux. But pan being available as a mod destination would be the bees knees!
I don't know what dispute you try to continue with me but you interpret my comment so wrongly and you went too far with the hate, Let's give some love to each other instead :)
It can sound moogish and rolandish and prophet all in one. Im thinking of it vs matriarch as they on the same price. This one also looks it can sound much darker with all that distortions plus it would be the perfect ableton midi keyboard. Thoughts? Im confused🤣
Hi! What a great flagship synthesizer! Can you please demonstrate the aftertouch? As far as I know the AT was quite stiff on some older Summits. Are there any improvements?
That's a beautiful preset you started with calc! Is that on the stock presets or is it one you made? I'd love to get my hands on it! Lovely work as always!
Thanks! That preset is "Punch it, Chewie" found in the fantastic pack from Lightbath. It's feely available for Summit and Peak from the Novation Components librarian. His pack is particularly special ;o)
@@-CALC- wicked! Thanks! I'll get it loaded up tonight! I hadn't thought about playing with 2 patches layered and messing with the stereo field like that! I really appreciate your videos and they always give me cool ideas!
Very nice, but still not as extreme as my Rev2 where I can position each voice deliberately in the stereo field (like on the old Oberheims) via the gated sequencer. Well, the Summit offers many other possibilities. Anyway, I like your friendly explanations. :)
Do you mean the Key Latch? It's switched on throughout this video. That holds the notes on and having the Amp Env's Sustain high keeps the sound coming through. Visibly the Sustain fader is all the way down in the video but in the loaded preset sound, its actually all the way up.

Just got the summit and I am in love. Calc your tutorials and tips have been immensely instructive: thank you.
Yeah, that first patch is incredible. Nice work, as always. I could watch your tutorials all day.
Back Atcha Paul!
So beautiful! I know the moog matriarch can do something similar, but didn't know my summit can! I will try this today, thanks for explaining
D***, I LOVE my new Summit. Yet another example of what a fine synth it really is. Thanks!
Well done! What a powerful instrument with lots of capabilities. Great to see someone exploiting them.

interesting idea

i think they did that

Wow. This synth sounds good and powerful. Tempting
Calc you're a genius.
Nice one mate!
This is awesome.

Yes! Please, Novation.
UDO Super 6 has a few things in common with Summit.
Not the country of manufacturing :)

I wonder how good this synth is. If its worth the price compared to the peak...which is pretty much affordable.

Got mine in 2021 and have come to really like the aftertouch.

how are you getting the recording of the sound so crisp and perfect? Just an audio interface and recording directly into a DAW?
Very nice, but still not as extreme as my Rev2 where I can position each voice deliberately in the stereo field (like on the old Oberheims) via the gated sequencer. Well, the Summit offers many other possibilities. Anyway, I like your friendly explanations. :)
how do you get amp envelope release to stay open until you hit the next chord?

@@-CALC- awesome man, thanks for the response! i just got my summit yesterday; your videos have been very helpful.
