I know that this comment may be a joke but take more observation of the video *first* before replying back, he said "counterweight" because of the fan not spinning due to the camera being heavier than the other and he added a counterweight to balance and make the fan spin, now you people might be confused that he said that the camera is the counterweight but it simply isn't.

In this case the thing he chose with weight was *another* camera. Hence the OP comment. Sorry that flew over your head and you felt the need to expose your feeble understanding to the world. 🤷

I did this in highschool 2003 with a small dv cam and a pair of pants wrapped around the opposing blade for counterweight. It was a "music video" for lack of a better term for the band I was in called Crotch Bomb. You could see me reach up occasionally to turn the fan lol

For DYI, it worked pretty well. I could have told you about balance issues though. ;)
1. Crop out the fan or tilt the camera so it isnt visible.
2. Try to be exactly in the center so your body doesnt scale up and down.
3. Use a longer selfie stick to get the camera spinnin closer to the ground or use another way to get it lower since that would look significantly better
If you took your own advice you wouldn’t be on TH-cam all day with the rest of us. And what a rude way to do it with a list of demands but no “please” or “thank you” or “here’s a tip” or “nice vid”

Very cool. But you should stand in the direct center (under the light) and you should keep the camera higher, and angled down a little so the fan is not in frame.
He doesn't need to angle the camera, it's 360, he can choose the angle. He just chose wrong....
@@nowandrew4442 The digital seam of a 360 camera become more noticeable the close you get to the camera, especially at the bottom. You can adjust the angle in post, but ideally you want the whole shot to come from one lens.

The fishing rod design reminded me of some of those toys from the 90s~ Early 2000s, where they'd have some bird flying around on either a piece of plastic or string attached to a motor

You are entirely defeating the purpose of the 360° camera. Since you know the subject will be exactly in frame 100% of the time, you could use any better camera such as a Samsung phone with real 4K 16:9 @120fps and come out miiiiles ahead of this setup.

You should try Josh Yeo’s Marbl Orbit camera dolly. Same principle but much safer, stronger, and controllable.

Next time mount the camera higher so the ceiling fan isn't in the final shot. It's not as cool seeing how its spinning.
You don't need a 360 camera for this? Any old gopro or other action-cam would work. 360 cameras are useful for capturing more than just one direction. If the camera is pointed at you constantly, regardless if it's stationary or in motion, the extra cost of a 360 cam is wasted.
