    Ah yes the merchant fort. I remember packing 20 merchants on gold in timbuktu, good times.

    @fim216 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    similar to the merchant fort you can stand an almost dead unit (for the low upkeep on him, or a cheap unit) on top of a resource and fill him with merchants to exploit 1 resource many times

    There are a few more, well maybe not an exploit but a game mechanic I guess?
    1. If you have an agent i.e. spy/diplomat/assasin set to go into your own town ( it can take 1/2/3/4 turns to get there it doesn't matter all you need is their movement to be linked with the city ) and if the city gets besieged, normally that agent can no longer go inside the city HOWEVER, if you press end turn, and the agent had a pre-selected path to go into the city, they will ignore the siege on your city and simply go in.
    - It's not very useful but its there :D
    2. There is also an ability to claim any spot on a map with an agent. Why is this useful? Well, if you have a merchant with 3 skill and just cant get rid of the AI merchant with 10, all you have to do is have that other merchant in FOW and have your merchant walk exactly onto that spot, DO NOT move him on your own, let the end turn move your merchant. In this situation you don't have to "fight" the other merchant, you will simply move him out of the way.
    Of course next turn the AI might just take your merchant out, but that's still slightly better then you having to do it against the AI.
    3. There are mods that don't allow you to build a fort, in this situation you can simply stack merchants within a unit. Merchants can enter a fort but they can also enter an army if you cannot build a fort, and just keep the unit where a merchant would be.
    The retraining/recruitment explot it one I will def use for moded games for units that take ages to get thank you for that!

    2:37 There were no gates for the spy to open in York because it's just a village

    • @cosmicconqueror5367
      @cosmicconqueror5367  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is true, although a spy can still allow you to start the battle with your enemy spread out in disarray and no chance to arrange their troops.

  • @ConradTheMad-d1z
    @ConradTheMad-d1z หลายเดือนก่อน

    Entering closed gates with cavalry (works better/faster with at least two units of cav):
    IIRC only works on large & huge cities, and castles, fortresses, and citadels.
    When you right click hold and mouse over an area to set up your unit with a certain number of ranks and files: Do this in front of a gate, but backwards so that your proposed formation’s rear is inside the gate. Your cavalry will then plow into the gate and each other until some soldiers are glitch pushed through the gate, and open it.
    This is especially useful in combination with a settlement center victory, where the center is contained within a second tier gate not opened by troops sallying out.

    • @ConradTheMad-d1z
      @ConradTheMad-d1z หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess I should have been more specific. Only the settlement sizes listed have wide enough gates to accommodate a cavalry formation at its narrowest. And even then placement needs to be quite precise or it will obviously be blocked by impassable objects/buildings.
      The other handy use I forgot to mention is when the gates remain closed after a forced sally because the defending garrison’s siege equipment doesn’t sally out, and you cannot win the forced sally without killing them.

  • @nikolozgilles
    @nikolozgilles 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    5:55 Agent squishing is also very helpful for getting rid of enemy priests/imams to protect your settlements from conversion or speed along your own conversion projects in enemy territory
    Edit: Also very very useful for getting rid of rival Cardinals to remove another faction's influence in the Papacy

    Im not sure if im misremembering things but im pretty sure the first exploit does have a way to mitigate the open gate chance. and thats by doing other things like moving a character or units in random direction, fighting an army or getting a settlement via diplomacy.im probably wrong and what i might be remembering is the gate opening when you re-enter a spy into a city that he had already been on.

    Companion Pass with General unit:
    Method 1 (simple): Select stack with general. Ctrl-A to select all units in stack. Right click/attack out of range army or settlement in direction you want to go. Upon exhausting movement area of foot units, the army stops and general’s additional movement area appears.
    Method 2: Repeat first 2 steps of method 1, spacebar to toggle movement to slow. Right click on a square one or more away from your army. While still in the process of slowly moving to your destination square, hit ctrl-A a second time. Once you arrive at the destination square the army will stop, and the additional movement zone of your general will appear. Note: after using ctrl-A the second time, you can toggle movement speed back to fast at any time even when the army is still moving.

    • @ConradTheMad-d1z
      @ConradTheMad-d1z หลายเดือนก่อน

      To expand on the forced march (companion pass) the following tactic is something I call “courier forced marching.”
      By moving a cavalry unit from a recruitment center the maximum range of an infantry unit minus one, recruited units from the next turn can not only do a turn’s worth of infantry marching, they are able to merge with, and do a full turn of that cavalry unit’s marching as well.
      Further, by setting up a courier line of heavily depleted cavalry units (lower upkeep) further down the road at a distance of one cavalry turn movement zone, and one infantry zone minus one each, every turn these reinforcing armies will be able to travel along this courier line more than twice the distance that an army with infantry can normally achieve. To sum up, reinforcements to your fronts more than twice as fast as is normally possible. Just be sure to return the depleted cavalry unit to its previous position at the beginning of each turn to keep your courier line intact.
      This ofc can also be done with ships, and more importantly ships with land armies aboard.
      This is extremely useful to maximize movement when crusade/jihad movement exploits aren’t available, either because one happened too recently, or your faction’s religion type doesn’t allow for them at all.

    I got interesting situation :
    - I'm on turn 180-ish.
    - Any living faction beside me are Papal States, Russians, Poland, The Turks, The Mongol, The Timurids, and The Moors.
    - I have Jerusalem (got 15% bonus to public order factionwide)
    - I control all Cardinal College, Poland doesn't have seat.
    And then suddenly I got 45% bonus to public order factionwide (the glory bonus), I'm not sure what happen there? Is it a bug? or maybe decaying overtime? I'm not sure.

      @@dannyalex5866 I'm assuming you're referring primarily to movement bugs here. AFAIK there's nothing unique to them of course, and anything that utilizes unlimited movement (quadruple movement, boat juggling, etc.) is out because it needs crusades or jihads. I think the best they can do is the old school glitches like "companion pass" and "one extra step." And your fort glitch of course.

    What happens with recruiting mercenaries as Mega Movement Generals? Will they inherit the General's movement points or no?
    Also, is there a way to quickly get specific mercenaries, e.g. Sherwood Archers in England?

    • @cosmicconqueror5367
      @cosmicconqueror5367  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I give an attempt at explaining this at 40:24 but it's kind of like DNA genes being passed through generations. Mercenaries are the "carrier" of the movement points. They have that value stored, but can't actually move that far themselves. But if you spawn a new general using them, the new general will inherit the movement points that they carry.
      Sherwood Archers aren't mercenaries-they're trainable only through a specific type of guild.

    • @edhp4718
      @edhp4718 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ah I must be misremembering playing England all those many years ago.
      So if the MMG hires some mercenaries, then those mercs will still be able to move the full distance with him? Sounds like a nifty way of picking up multiple good mercs across regions that way.

    • @cosmicconqueror5367
      @cosmicconqueror5367  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@edhp4718 no only the generals can move that far. No additional units can go with them. Only work around would be to use boat juggling to transport the army to meet up with him at the end location. The mercenaries cannot USE the extra movement, they only CARRY the information about it.

      1) you need to make sure you have at least two ships in the fleet so make sure you have that and then 2) you need to select the whole fleet and then make one move once you've loaded the army as demonstrated at 18:42. Let me know if that works.

    I honestly don't get why people exploit/cheese mechanics in total war games. The difficulty is what makes it fun, no? Some aspects are annoying and can be modded, but to exploit/cheese .. idk man I feel like it takes the fun and struggle out of it 😂

    • @cosmicconqueror5367

      Exploits are a challenge in a different way! How far can you get within the confines of the game? Push the limits? Discover new tactics? Each exploit brings new possibilities-IMO this is a big part of the longitivity of the game.
