Can’t say enough about Monty so far - he’s exuding the vibes of a #1 goalie… dare I say like Price used to do. Took a perfect shot to beat him. Him and Hutson really transform the team’s dynamic. And Laine isn’t even playing yet ❤
Monty has earned the #1 spot over the last 2 years. When they let Allen go it was similar to when they choose Price over Halak. Monty was basically told he's the man. That gave him the confidence to do what he's doing now. He's proving himself to everyone. Add him to the list of great goalies we've had.
The 1st line has played nowhere even remotely close to their best hockey through the first 3 matches and yet they still have 8 pts between them. Lane Hutson continues to prove that he can be a key player for a club. Montembeault picked off where he left off against Toronto, stood on his head on the ice.
I wish Montembault was THE Goalie. But if these kid can be like only a top 15-20 goalie in every stats, Ch gonna be crazy special. Man its been a while i didnt watch somes games and have a smile till the games done.
As an old NHL fan, elements of Hutson's game reminded me of Coffey, who was essentially a 4th forward. I know Hutson is small, but he hasn't gotten this far without having his head on a swivel, because I'm sure lead footed pylons have been hunting him at every level. He is so quick and fluid, and certainly not awestruck to be in the NHL.
I have never seen a more promising habs team and that's without Mailloux, Reinbacher, Laine, Demidov, Hage and Fowler! Hughes and Gorton are building an absolute menace for the years to come. Go Habs Go!!!

Josh Anderson has been the last 2 games unsung hero to me, he creates real quality space for his mates in the best zones, draws penaltys, nips some germinating opponents offense in the bud too (which we did not see enough from him last season, not this consistently). Hope he'll get pucks to go through to the back of the net soon, would be a well deserved reward for all his work in the shadows.
Montembeault should have the #1 keeper position, playing awesome and getting better every opportunity. But then again perhaps the pressure of the undecided keeps them sharp.
Looks like the Sens Defenseman tied up Kapanen at the side of the net which resulted in Kapanen's stick interfering with Ullmark. Not goalie interference because it was Ottawa's fault.
An excellent game played against a strong team as Ottawa is, I say we need be more aggressive in defence and getting new second goalkeeper as Montembeault is
The difference between this game and the game with Boston was Montreal had an NHL quality goaltender in nets as opposed to one who isn't even after 5 years. Mgmt should admit their failure to even think this guy Primeau could play in the NHL. It's time to move on and finish the rebuild by getting a NHL quality goaltender to be the backup

And the forwards they have aren't the type to hack it out or rough it out in the corners or in front of the net. Wow....Lane Hutson opens up so much space for someone to be all alone. It is going to require better discipline to try to stop that from happening...as in, two or three defenders can't try to run some sort of "trap" around him in their defensive zone, and everyone (you too wings!) is going to have to skate hard to get back and find someone when he brings the puck through the neutral zone.
Canadiens fan here... but on the penalty shot, Sanderson's just hit the puck a little bit before touching the player, so, no penalty shot here... That was a bad call.
Tbh I’d leave him there for now we finally have 2 pp units that can score I think our 2nd power play unit scored like 4 goals all season last year and that’s not even an exaggeration
@@Tostage the second unit plays around 30 seconds, during these 30 seconds hutson is clearly making everyone he plays with better. Imagine having him for a whole 1:30 with our best players! We wouldn’t even need a second unit.

He's already playing 17-18 ish minutes with PP time, let's pump the breaks and give him some time to really play against NHL competition first. Kinda like what they did with Guhle. Besides, as mentionned, having two good PP units is great.
