The "wide open" border is a myth. People crossing the border - legally - in search of asylum, has recently been at an all-time high. Politicians like US Senators who say the border is wide open only encourage more people to attempt to cross. Biden recently enacted major cutbacks to the number of people who will be able to cross over legally. I support him but believe that measure was WAY overdue. Away from the border, there is much we can do to improve things in the Central and South American countries that these human beings are coming from so that they won't feel the need to migrate. Venezuela is a total mess right now, people there are miserable, and they're leaving.
