Thanks for the review; I heard from a dealership yesterday that 2025 model will be available in August.
Finally, Acura realized the error in their ways and gave us a touch screen.
Idk about everyone else but I would like to have BOTH a touchscreen and a touchpad
Yeah it only took 10 years to make the change…
Glad they got rid of the contrast plastic molding, that was a terrible idea to begin with.
Nice review! I’m excited to see you guys review the A-Spec Advance
They should have not gotten rid of MDX hybrid sport
Agreed fully
Agree. I had the 2019 MDX Hybrid sport and regret getting rid of it after the lease ended. I thought there would be a 2022 Hybrid model, but that didn't happen so I went the opposite direction and got the Type S MDX. MPG basically got cut in half.
Yes, and they really need to upgrade this ancient v6 3.5
@@romeod744 they really don’t, if you want performance, get a BMW X5 or you can splurge for a Porsche Cayenne, the MDX is for those who want comfort and reliability, 290hp for sufficient for a car like the MDX
@@CarGeek360 yes and no, the fuel economy is too bad for this engine
Good review. Acura out of my price range, but always enjoy your reviews.
Happy Memorial Day to you both.
Good luck with your New Vehicle search 👍👍👀👀
Thanks and happy Memorial Day to you as well!
I have the 2023 MDX and I love it! I hate that the 2025 doesn’t have the wrists rest. I’ve grown to love it! The MDX is all around a great vehicle
That piano black needs to go!
Excellent video and happy Sunday!
Happy Memorial Day!
Thank you for the overview. I really like Acura MDX. Now that the ridiculous touchpad has been eliminated, I plan to purchase the new MDX Type S version.
The MDX Type-S is great but if you’re going to be on a lot of bad roads I think you’re better off sticking to the normal MDX as the Type-S tires have a thin sidewall which means they go flat easier on bad roads, my parents have the 2023 MDX Advance and it’s amazing but the refresh 2025 is even better
Glad you enjoyed!
Acura MDX not putting vents for 3rd row premium/luxury SUV is a big omission.
I think the vents are in the pillars, I sat in one a month ago.
@@2004cyrus that’s the second row, there’s nothing in the 3rd 😢
@@DarenBrantley you people are such snowflakes. There is plenty of cold air floating around the cabin from vents in carious places. You don’t need anything extra and neither do the passengers: trust me. Everyone will be fine. My folks grew up rolling windows now, air conditioning wasn’t even liked by their folks. It makes people stronger.
For the price point ceiling vents are a MUST. Babies in rear facing car seats in Texas triple digit heat is a nightmare. For that price- I’m bougie and must have vents
@@MsMandyjowho puts their baby in 3rd row? Does anyone have common sense anymore?
Love your car video
If you haven’t bought another long-term test car already, def purchase a 2025 MDX Advance, non Type-S one as the Type-S has low-profile tires that go flat easily on bad roads (also probs why not a lot of them sell relative to the other trims of the MDX)
Thank God for the touchscreen. Still not a fan of the button gears but I won't complain about that
How’s this new speaker compared to ELS studio? I have the type S 2023 model. I really love the ELS studio sound system and the ambient lights inside the speakers
Finally, it has a touchscreen. It's funny that the Accord debuts the new touchscreen before the MDX but better late than never. All it needs now is hybrid powertrains and less gloss black.
Beautiful! Glad they gave a touchscreen. That touchpad had a lot of ppl going to other options.
Wow, they’ve made so many amazing changes and additions. My dad currently has a 2019 model and with all the options the 2025 comes with this will definitely be a vehicle to consider next. Being able to get an Advanced + A-Spec together now is amazing! Great job Acura 👏
Go for it, don’t get the Type-S tho bc of the low-profile tires that go flat easily on bad roads, I love my mom’s 2023 MDX Advance (the 2025 is even better)
ELS was the reason to buy this honda pilot
It was never on the pilot
The exterior and interior look better than the TX!!
I like both cars a lot but the MDX is sportier and the TX is more spacious, wouldn’t be shocked if the TX rides better too but the MDX is still very comfortable
@CarGeek360 Yeah, I'm sure the TX rides better. But the interior of the TX looks like top trim Toyota lol. At least MDX and Pilot are totally different
Anything is way better than the Tx
@@Slim1986 I disagree tbh, I like the Grand Highlander but I think the TX is nicer
@@naveenthemachine the XC90 def isn’t, I strongly dislike the XC90 for a reason
Great review, as always. I was on the fence with MDX just because of the TouchPad. Now with the TouchPad gone, I think 2025 MDX Advance is something I'd definitely consider buying.
Go for it, my mom’s 2023 MDX Advance is amazing and the 2025 is even better, I don’t recommend the Type-S tho bc of the low-profile tires that go flat easily on bad roads
@@CarGeek360 : Thank you.
@@LalitNarayanMishra your most welcome! Hopefully you get the MDX, you’ll enjoy it for sure!
Aloha when can you review the new traverse can you do a night drive in test the headlights and super cruise
When does it go on sale?
The 2025 advance looks so much better than the 2024, love the body color wheel arches. Main reason I went for the 2024 type S advance is because it just looked better than the 24 regular advance. For 2025, the type s does not look as good as 2024 imo.
i agree with you. 24 types looks better than the 25. I wish I could get TypeS, I bought the car during pandemic, the Aspec was the only one available at my local dealer, it was a showroom car. I paid 6k over MSRP.
I personally think both the regular MDX and Type-S look better for 2025 (although the 2024 ones looked good especially with accessories) however it’s def not enough of an upgrade for it to be worth trading in a pre-facelift for a facelift at least imo, the Type-S MDX is the one to buy if you know you’re gonna be on good roads but if you’re constantly going on beat up roads stick to the normal MDX as the Type-S has low-profile tires (thinner sidewall = goes flat easier on bad roads)
@@tonyhuynh6789 interesting, when did you get it, my dad got a 2023 MDX Advance for MSRP back in September 2022 but admitidally we got it from a dealership 3 hours away from home
@@CarGeek360 That was in August 2022. I got a red 2022 MDX A-Spec with a manufacturer date of May. My Wife fell in love with The Red at first sight, we were in and out of the dealership for just one hour. I believe the 2023 models became available in September, but I couldn't wait because I really needed a car. At that moment, each dealership had at most one to two MDXs available. There was a markup on all of them, I live in Washington.
@@tonyhuynh6789 I see, yeah we waited till September bc we wanted a 2023
Very good présentation Nice car👍🏿💪🏿💯✅💣
Wish Acura would wake up and give us a hybrid model. Bought a lexus after owning 5 mdx because we wanted a hybrid. Wake up Acura
I like the new touch screen. I still hate the button gear selector. I also hate the ultra high pricing for no reason. Also missing the rear seat vents. Otherwise, quite good car.
Awesome 👌
The interior is way nicer than all lexus models. Those wood accent trim makes this vehicle a true luxury feel. Im a lexus guy but interior is looking boring on all lexus model. Talking about 50k+ vehicles at least make the interior more appealing. Plus why is Lexus lookin more like toyota vehicles. I get that they are the same company but Lexus should have their own identity.
You say the tow rating for the SHAWD model is 5000 lbs. Did they change this from the previous model year? The only way you can get a 5000 lb tow rating on this vehicle is with an optional (costly) towing package that includes an Acura trailer hitch and auto transmission cooler. Without the dealer installed cooler the tow rating is 3500 lbs.
Left the mdx for the tx and could not be happier. Will always be buying Toyota/Lexus form now on
Oh nice. The Accord touring passed that screen down to the Acura.
Good review! No doubt it's a handsome vehicle, but it's truly hard to beat the Hyundai Palisade Caligraphy that'll cost you $10K less. And while the MDX has front massaging seats, the Caligraphy does have it for the driver along with some other creature comforts for the passengers. Another thing I prefer is the Hyundai uses regular gasoline, saving you under $10 each time you fill it up. Time will tell if and when these midsized SUVs get a hybrid option or the dreaded turbo four banger instead of the naturally aspirated V-6 engines that I prefer.
Acura needs to update their exterior color choices. They’ve been the same for too long. The interior is nice.
It’s very nice
Agreed
Awesome suv...should make touch and previous screen together as reviewers love touch screen, but I love Trac pad on all my Acura products especially when driving and especially on uneven road surfaces. The touch screen in my Ridgeline, Accord and integra are good but annoying on rougher roads and sometimes touch wrong things
They should make a hybrid version of it, get rid of the 3rd row and put the battery there !!!
I wonder if they are using the famous or infamous cvt transmission ¿ a deal breaker for me , other than that the mdx holds a special spot in my dream car garage
no vent for the third row? It is expensive car after all.
It would be nice if they would put air vents in the third row.
Acura is a value brand, not a leader.
Are all light elements in the rear LED? or did they forget about the turning indicators as usual?
They should make a hybrid version of the mdx .
Hope the tlx type s have the same features
It wouldn't surprise me they have already started production of these?
It’s getting so close to perfect but some of the things they aren’t putting in are baffling!! Third row ventilation, 2nd row heated seats. Imagine calling yourself a luxury car and get lapped by a Hyundai and Kia!
Nice
I think its time Acura engineers reconsider the size of the MDX. The 3rd row is rather uncomfortable no matter what. If you want that many seats that are usable, you get a minivan. In the case of the MDX, the car has continuously grown in length but length adds to the driving experience in terms of agility and efficiency to make the driver feel immersive in the drive. I would be at creating a MDX that has room for 5, shorten the wheel base, this reduce current weight but still keep the width. 198.4 inches long can be shrunk down to 190-192 inches long. The 2ns row neesa dire attention to make the passant experience more upscale and luxurious. The RDX will never go back to a 6 cylinder, so the obvious choice will be the MDX and sure revisit all trims because nobody buys a MDX with basr or tech, most peole want the A-spec or the advance and revisit options to strengthen features within each model. The Advance model feels like a mid trim level refinement MDX, does not come across as luxury. I drove the 2023 brand new MDX and i was not impressed at all.
Those 3rd row save us when our small children bring 2-3 extra friends home. Obviously emergency situations. Out VW Tiguan has a small 3rd row that my little grandma fits in and she loves being alone back there because she has lots of flatulence
Acura is a great brand, which sits below Lexus in luxury, but above Lexus is sport and handling.
This should be your next long term test car
I was thinking the same exact thing but I feel like they probs already bought something by now and haven’t revealed it yet
Thank goodness for the touchscreen
Trackpad was better
May 2024 has come and is almost over. Any update on when this 2025 MDX will be available at dealers, please?
It appears it may have been delayed but Honda has not passed any official info on to us
what, where does the 2nd row center seat store???? I did not see room in trunk for that...
There’s an under trunk storage spot like the Pilot
Finally! A full touch screen.
Acura, Mazda, and Lexus have all surrendered!!!🤣
Nice refresh from Acura. I wish they will put in a real adaptive damper in the non-type S model. Acura lets you adjust the damper setting in the infotainment in all trims, but does not do anything :(
Have the mdx 2022..the removable center seat and safety features are great. Gas mileage is so bad, kind of cheap interiors. Naturally aspirated lacks the torque and noisy. Good that they have addressed the trackpad issues and added some sound deadening. Probably one of the very few SUVs with iihs safety picks.
I like it but I don't at the same time the Lexus Texas have more room
That's because the TX has the space of an Escalade or a Grand Wagoneer without being as massive as them. Most others midsize luxury SUVs are much smaller.
TX is more spacious, MDX is sportier, both are great choices
Never liked Acura’s interior designs, but this refresh is finally saying “not an expensive Honda”
I would never use the third row
Massage but no lane assist??
Beautiful vehicle. Only aesthetic change I'd make is to bury that rear wiper. Not having lane change assist on all models is kinda wild for a luxury vehicle tho.
Yeah I’m with you on that one
Interior I still think QX60 is the best, but Acura has done really well with these refreshes.
I mean the Acura has interior ambient lighting which the Infiniti lacks, also I’ve been in both and the Infiniti drives horribly while this Acura drives really nicely
@@CarGeek360Infiniti has ambient lighting and it drives fine. What’s with your fuss?
@@mrgurulittle7000 have you been in a new QX60 cuz I’ve been in 2 and they both rode horribly while having a ton of body roll, my mom’s 2023 MDX Advance has surprisingly little body roll for a somewhat large SUV and incredible ride quality, also regarding the new QX60 having ambient lighting, you’re right about that (my bad)
@@mrgurulittle7000 from my experience, the new QX60 def drives “fine” for a 90s minivan but NOT for a $50k-$70k premium/luxury (depending on trim level) SUV, our 2018 QX60 (getting replaced with a fully loaded X5 later this year) drives MUCH better
They should have kept the touchpad as an alternate to the touchscreen. The touchpad had a wrist rest to eliminate mucsle fatigue. A touchscreen results in tired arm and shoulder muscles. Touchscreens accumulate fingerprints also. Blacked out lower body trim and wheel well trim looks better than body colored. Massage seats should have always been standard on Advance trim. I wish they had a rearview mirror cam to see better if the view is blocked by tall rear passengers or tall cargo.
I can't wait for the Acura MDX Hybrid, who is with me?
The touchpad was a terrible idea for the get-go. Glad they got rid of it
Sadly no diesel options
Is Acura allergic to Hybrids?
Have a ‘24 AWD w/Tech. Not enough changes. At all.
That’s why my parents are still keeping their 2023 MDX but there’s no denying this 2025 is the best MDX to date
Looks like they still haven’t fixed the panel fit and finish the driverside rear tail light is not aligned with the tail gate light at 3:26.🤦♂️
🤣😭🤣
That QC is unacceptable for what probably is the 'Press Car'
@2:38 also. the chrome doesn’t align with the piece thats on the mirror.
I was all set to buy one of these, then I drove it. It was seriously lacking in power, cramped and the air conditioning was horrific on the 95 degree day of my test drive.
Nice but Tesla still remains light years ahead in vehicle autonomy although this is true of the entire Industry now. Been driving a 2024 Subaru trying out its vehicle autonomy systems and definitely has matured but still disappointing. Not a fan of anything that isn't a hybrid in the current market as well.
The wireless charging pad. What a waste of space. They essentially maintain the charge and bake your phone. They should have kept the touch pad along with the touchscreen but I was one of the few that didn’t mind using it.
Hopefully they fix the dam rdx
Needs more piano black plastic!
Why are they still using chrome trim on a 2025…
No ceiling vents. 🤔
No vents at all in the 3rd row 😂
@@DarenBrantleyI think they're under the second row. Which also sucks
Which is better, 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe or 2025 Acura MDX?
Acura all the way
@@wangwang2003 your reply on the comment proves how highly uneducated you are. Hyundai is ranked above toyota and Honda when it comes to reliability. And that santa fe they had was a lemon, not an actual car that has most hyundais don't. Maybe your son didn't take good care of it which leads to have problems.
@@jeffreylising6958 why? What's so special about acura?
@@darkivaz-aaa1145Not true. While they pulled ahead breifly, it was short lived. Keep in mind also, there are different aspects of reliability one must look at when evaluating a vehicle. The consumer reports and jd powers will look at customer complaints. Any issue is marked against it and affects its overall reliability. So it could be something basic like trim for example or something major like a blown transmission. Each is logged as a complaint and counts against the vehicle. Jd Powers has this ranked as problems per 100 vehicles. Toyota is #2 behind Lexus, while Hyundai has actually fallen below the study average. However, these reliability ratings generally have nothing to due with how long a vehicle may last. While Hyundai has come a long way on the shorter term reliability, (they've actually fallen off again recently and toyota has pulled ahead overall in this category) Toyota and Honda firmly trounces Hyundai in the expected longevity of their vehicles. Hyundai have shown to have significant and major issues past 100,000 miles while Toyota and Hondas will blow by 200,000 far more often that not with little issue.
I do own a Honda, Hyundai, and a BMW. I love them ALL. These cars all are well built with an audience in mind. I look at Hondas as super reliable cars with great gas mileage but lack many luxury features. I look at a BMW as a powerful luxury car with lots of bells and whistles at a higher cost. My weekend car 😂. While I look at Hyundai as being a car that bridges the gap between luxury and reality with many features at an affordable price. To be honest you barely see cars now days on the side of the road with the hood open because the driver got stranded. I remember back in the 80s and 90s many cars were Juck to include Toyota, Honda, and of course the good old big three (GM, Ford, and Chrysler). Times have changed and cars are in a better place now.
Imagine how much cleaner the rear would look with that rear wiper tucked in under the wing. 😢
You me and Joe Raiti are dying for them to tuck those wipers away. It’s like seeing a guys thing swinging around in gray sweats and it’s like bro tuck that thing away we don’t want to see that!
I couldn't care less. Actually it's even better like this. It wipes a much bigger area the way it's now, and it's more useful. Tucked away wipers may look cool, but wipes away less space, and it's harder to change wipers.
Bring the acura in UAE
😂 UAE has class. They drive true luxury cars such as Benz, BMW and other exotic cars. Acuras are for us poor Americans. 😢
OK, the looks inside and out is a whole lot better. But for a Lux-Sport SYV there are some big misses:
No ventilated 2nd row seat (standard on many other non-luxury SUVs now days)
No 3rd row air vents???? WTF? My 2020 Pilot EXL has them - heck so did my 2105 Pilot!
No turbo engine, no hybrid, no PHEV. In fact it is the same engine that is in the Honda Pilot (The MDX only improves by 5-points over Honda in both HP and torque - 285 vs 290 HP, 262 vs 267 torque)
Yes I know, there are some people who still don’t know Acura’s are tarted-up Hondas and do not exit outside North America. I have leased two TLX’s in the past - a 2007 and then 2010 after having two Accords. But I went back to Hondas with a 2012 Crosstour because Acura was getting behind its bigger brother in features. Overall I like Acura, and the interior improvements on this MDX is good, but they still lag behind everyone else in the this class, and even many middle-class SUVs.
Even the new CX 90 is more luxurios than this
Having auto start/stop, stupid VCM technology, a timing belt, the perpetual panel alignment issues, and the outrageous asking price keeps me from buying one.
Love your channel this car is very over priced. The infotainment screen needs to be integrated into the dashboard.
Thanks!
I agree. I rather pay for true luxury such as a BMW. B58 Engine has much more power and are very reliable.
Lower the price.. and hybrid for better mg. This is acura failure..
Lexus in my opinion is a much better make.
Define better. Every make has their pros and cons.
am sorry but the info s reen is annoying, not needed. wish cloth searmting was as option on all levels.
Hmm I have trouble seeing why this car is worth 15-20K more than a Santa Fe Calligraphy.
And still has the same Honda Pilot engine!
@@FunAtDisney true but that engine is genuinely amazing. Sounds great and adequate power although the 2.5T in the Hyundai is slightly quicker. The bigger problem is it doesn't offer powered second row seats, cooled second row seats, vents in the third row (unacceptable), and not a super luxurious cabin etc. I'm really happy they added massaging seats and an even better sound system although I expect the car to be 65-70K
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 Yes all true. Honda in general has been lagging behind. The Pilot still had a relatively small console screen, also does not offer 2nd row ventilated seats, and no engine alternative. Both Hondas and Acuras are fantastic and very reliable vehicles, but I am not sure why they are moving so slowly to the point they had to rely on GM for an EV.
Still have the outdated software. Guess we gonna wait til 2026!
Which software are you talking about
@samdovels1234 the infotainment software
This is Acura's best product. It's actual luxury unlike the rest of their lineup.

The RX is among the ugliest car designs ever, from the front spindle grill to that hideous rear window.
@@samdovels1234agreed fully
MDX is WAY better than RX but something like a BMW X5 is def better than both
Should be compared with lexus rx. Not Tx
The TX is a 3-row like this
I honestly can not understand how Acura is falling behind on their flagship vehicle. They still refuse to put vents in the 3rd row seating area and also NOT have powered folding 3rd row seats. And yet, they want an astronomical price for this vehicle? Acura, you need to get it together and see what your other ccompetitors are doing to attract customers.
Cleaned up design looks better than some Lexus.
Useless 3rd row makes it one of the worst vehicle in its class.. Plus its way less economical than the Lexus TX..
Tx is miles better than this
Imagine buying an MDX over the RX, Highlander, CX 70, or CX 90.
Shoot, give me the BMW X5 w/ the B58 or a base Porsche Cayenne.
MDX is too expensive.
The interior looks so dated 😂
Shocking Acura still around as a brand. Who are buying these overpriced Hondas.
Lots of people are buying this
Shocking still some people like you exist
Asians mainly. Cause of the price. But they are luxurious versions Honda.
I did!! Biggest mistake i have ever made so overpriced and nothing special my 2016 higlander drives better
A lot of people including me later today finally, the fabulous TLX for $57k. Nothing overpriced about that. You get a ton of performance and comfort and quality.
Absolutely yes. It wipes out the tx, the biggest joke of the segment out of existence
No the XC90 is the biggest joke in the segment (been in one, hated it) also the MDX is better than the TX for sportiness and the TX is better than the MDX for space
