    I just want to say thank you to you guys. I'm sitting here with 100 lbs to lose. I'm already vegan, so that obstacle is not an issue. However, having all these various tips and teachings are really giving me the courage to start. Thank you so much!!!

    Monday is the start of the week -- so I would like that calendar. My Hubby and I are going to start this journey on September 1st. I love your videos, they are so informative and user friendly. I have 5 autoimmune diseases plus fibro -- so I need to start a plant base diet to eliminate inflammation -- plus lose 100+ pounds. I'm so happy I found both of you. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Great tips! I will add, you can buy a sticky page laminate kind of sheet to make a master list of staple foods with check boxes. You cover both sides to make a laminated kind of page that you can use a dry marker on. You can use couple of magnets to put on your fridge. You check the boxes with a dry marker on stuff you need to buy or just mark boxes as you need to replenish stock. Also, look for 1 cup storage freezer containers they sell like 6 in a pack at grocery stores. Instead of freezing a big bowl, have frozen cups of your batch cooking. You can get quart size also. I use freezer tape to label dishes so my husband doesn't have to guess what it is. LOL. Also, there are free phone apps out there like 'Check list', that you can share or send to each other. Thanks for posting!

    Thank you so much for sharing your grocery list. I just went plant based and it can be challenging. I was doing keto or low carb off and on for a few years and since I don’t eat a ton of meat or eggs it was hard to continue that lifestyle. It made me not want to eat meat again. I’m really glad I found your channel. Thank you again for all that you do . Have a wonderful afternoon!💜

    When I've eaten a vegan meal out, I've more or less figured out how to do "my version" of the recipe. As we are two people as well, if I make a dish, part of that dish will be used as an ingredient for other meals -- such as when I make our taco meal, I usually also make Zataran's Yellow Rice, adding some mixed veggies for extra color. When I make this, I also make an equal quantity of quinoa which I mix together. Quinoa's flavor is mild and I like the mixed colors. This leftover rice became one of the ingredients in my tacquitos and was added when I served up the vegetable soup I made. Then I froze some of the leftovers on the soup.
    We moved this year to California's Central Valley and even though out backyard is small, we bought a brand new home with no landscaping in the backyard. Our shrubs are vegetables, except for one rose bush and two decorative plants, everything else we've planted is edible. We have curly lettuce, kale, beets, cilantro, baby bok choi, carrots, broccoli, edible Chinese pea pods, green onions, garlic, spinach and we also planted red and green seedless grapes, and a dwarf lemon and dwarf orange tree and an avocado tree. We have LOADS of blossoms on the trees.
    Except for a few greens I buy at the store, my daily salad comes out of the backyard. I just take a deep dish and a scissors and go cut what I want to eat. We don't have tomatoes yet or bell pepper, also I want to plant zucchini and yellow squash and cantaloupe. Oh, and we have strawberry hanging baskets and a blueberry bush.
    If you own your own home, learning how to do a vegetable garden is fun and not a lot of work. Fresh cut salad greens have loads more flavor. My husband did the planting, I do the harvesting. He does not eat a lot of salads but I do, but learning to eat a daily salad is something the Krocks taught me. Brian and Jessica not only look healthy, they have a glow to them.
    WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based) helps you stay well, you sleep better, never get constipated, and it helps fight depression. I have suffered from depression most of my life. I am 66 and actually feel better now than I can ever remember feeling.
    My husband reminded me that he planted corn (but it hasn't come up yet). As our yard is small, he has hanging planting trays on our wooden fence, suspended so we can use that space for herbs and spices. Some people like to plant raised beds, but that is a lot of added work, if you can bend over, it is not hard to do the harvesting.
    We do eat cooked foods but with the fruits and salads I am eating, I am at least 50% raw food now. I don't think I'll go ever completely raw.
    We've also been trying more colors of potatoes and enjoy yams once a week which is cooked in our crockpot.
    My husband is still transitioning. Our dog was under the weather so we got her some raw lamb frozen. I just about get sick now when I smell meat. I do not feel tempted to eat animal products. Occasionally we get a veggie pattie which I did not see contains egg whites, unless there is nothing comparable, I do not buy that again.
    Sorry for the lengthy post.
    There is always something new to learn and to try being a vegan.

    I’m an imperfect McDougaller myself, always looking to do better. I’m also an organization nerd so I love your calendar and lists.
    Here’s a couple of things I found that really helped me a lot. I am in no way affiliated with either of them.
    #1 LISTONIC - I keep it on my phone and it’s a list of things that I buy over and over again, much like the paper list do you keep on your clipboard.
    #2 PAPRIKA - Which is a recipe organizer. It lets me download recipes from the web, or input them manually. It also kicks out a list of ingredients for each recipe. It’s a cool app, I think it cost five bucks when I bought it. (I don’t use it nearly as much as Listonic, which I use every single time I shop.)

    Here I am binge-watching your videos. . . Love this method. My hubs and I need to start doing this. Neither of us mind eating the same thing over and over again, yet I find myself anxiously contemplating whether we should or not. This concept of doing batch cooking one or two things for lunches all week, big salads on weeknights, and saving F-Su for fun meals is just awesome.

    LOL. I also have that calendar. I put tape over the days and renamed them Sun-Sat. Also, I have a binder with recipes I like too. Great minds think alike. I do not use a master grocery list but it is a good idea. I just keep a running list using Google Keep. This makes it easy for my husband to add things to the list during the week too. It would be great if he were plant based too but he is not a veggie fan and doesn't like any of them once cooked. Sigh. Great videos. Since I learned about you only a few months ago, I try to find time and review them periodically. I started oldest first so I have a lot of catching up to do!

    I’ll have you know, the “What should we eat tonight?” conversation has caused me to go on cooking strike many a time. 😉 Can’t someone, for once, just decide for me?!
    But seriously, I agree with batch cooking and meal prepping. I should be batch cooking more often, but unlike you guys I go crazy if I have to eat something twice in a row. Except tostadas. Tostadas are life.
    How do you guys eat your frozen fruit? That’s something I stock up on when I see it on sale, so now I have a freezer full of it and honestly have no idea what to do with it. (I only use it to make chia jam.)
    Love the spice cabinet! You two are as bad as me lol

    • @KrocksInTheKitchen
      @KrocksInTheKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I eat frozen fruit as part of my breakfast nearly every day. In the morning before I go to work, I put some frozen blueberries, raspberries & pineapple into a glass Pyrex bowl. Then by the time I get to work, it has thawed a bit but is still cold. At work, I slice a fresh banana or apple into it and mix it all up!
      Brian takes a bowl of frozen blueberries, cherries, mango & pineapple with him to work every day and eats it as part of his lunch. I personally don't like it to thaw out as much as he does or it gets too "soggy" for me. I will also just take it straight out of the freezer and microwave for a few seconds to thaw a bit.
      We do make smoothies or banana "nice" cream with frozen fruit in it from time to time as well.
      Don't get me started on Brian and his spices! LOL

    • @angelaw4976
      @angelaw4976 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Krocks In The Kitchen lol...trust me, my cabinet is just as bad. It’s totally out of control.
      Great idea, I really need to start using my frozen fruits! (I lied, on occasion I do add it to overnight oats or So Delicious yogurt...but 99% of the time it slips my mind.) And I agree, I prefer it’s not completely thawed.

    You guys are doing awesome! Just a few constructive criticisms, if I may, and I mean these in the most respectful way. The video production is great (audio and video, camera angles, etc), so is the content. However, I think you can grab the interest of the viewer by keeping the message short and sweet. Less dialogue and more to the point of the video. Keep on going! Hope this didn't come off rude.

      I know you weren’t trying to be rude but I COMPLETELY disagree. I could use some more dialogue. I love listening to your message and ideas and all and any witty banter! More more more!

      Thank you! It has been a ton of work, but we are having fun with it! I go to the market at least once or twice each time we visit family in Columbus 🙂 I wish we had something similar here in St. Louis!

    Do you go to the same grocery store every week? Or multiple stores in a week? Would love to hear/see how you treat the store options.

    • @KrocksInTheKitchen
      @KrocksInTheKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jessica goes to the same stores every week. Aldi, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods (In that order 😃). I know she will sometimes go to Walmart or Target but it's the other 3 that are our normal grocery stores. I'm sure we can do a video about that in the future! 😃

      Hey Bridgette - Jessica here! I always start with Aldi and get the vast majority of our groceries there if possible. Although Aldi is usually the cheapest, they are also most likely to be out of things. They usually have a few super good deals on fresh produce depending on what is in season, so I love to check those out and get a few things that aren't on my list if they are really cheap! Then I go to Trader Joe's next and get things I couldn't find at Aldi there. I usually end up going to Whole Foods, but I only get a few things there. Sometimes I skip Whole Foods, but I do like to check out their sales (can you tell I like a good deal? Lol). We will definitely have to film a "grocery haul" video sometime.

      I have trouble making it to multiple stores on the same day bc I worry about keeping everything cold while I'm shopping at the next store. We use a lot of frozen fruit and veg so I don't want them to melt while I shop. I love me a good deal too!

      @KrocksInTheKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This can be tricky, especially during the summer months! I usually take a few insulated cooler bags or even a regular cooler with ice packs in it when I go grocery shopping. This really helps keep everything cold!

    How do you use you tahini sauce? Do you use it as salad dressing? How do you make it? I have the same brand as you and haven’t used it yet, don’t know how or for what!

    • @KrocksInTheKitchen
      @KrocksInTheKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We use tahini to make hummus (th-cam.com/video/8oNp1cwdM_k/w-d-xo.html), salad dressings, and some other sauces. We will have some videos coming out in the future that have a few different uses for tahini. It really is a great product that can be used in many different ways. 😃

    That is the cleanest fridge I have ever seen in my life. Do you obsessively clean or do fridges stay cleaner when you only keep fruits and veggies in it?
