SNW is probably the most underrated Deftones album to date. SO MANY great songs, especially after I got to listen to the unreleased demos last night, I have a much deeper appreciation for it.
Deftones just needs to go fucking super heavy musically and just let chino be Chino on vocals with that vulnerable soothing croos Sade type vocals. Main reason I think around the fur and white pony will forever be their legendary golden age records
I know right I play guitar and it doesn't look to me like it sounds . Stef isn't that technical but I think he is gifted more on sound and simplicity which is actually really difficult to achieve sometimes

By far?! “Mein” is arguably the worst song on that album. There are many notable others not appreciated retroactively, too, such as “Rivière”, “Cherry Waves” “U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,SELECT,START”, “Xerces” and even the bold, “Pink Cellphone”. I will never understand “Mein” being such a likable song, especially as a favorite on this album.

There are a few sections worthy of mention, and that’s about it besides it featuring Serj Tankian, which is probably the main contributor to the illusion worthiness. Other lesser-known songs on that album deserve so much more attention. Ultimately, the album was too saturated and processed with vocal and instrumental alterations that its grandiose nature was not working for the material written. For lack of a better term, that is the silver lining, and so is this: As listeners (after several listens), however, you can totally see how palpable many of the songs actually could be if they were fully realized. I’ve read many times that a lot of the material was rushed, especially the vocals. I can sort of tell. “Beware”, for example, was my favorite song on that album for years because the ambient experimentation applied to it that enhanced so many of the songs, but I could tell that if they spent just _some_ more time with that song and the others, they would have produced another monumental album.
