Now we will have zero communication from them again until the next DLC character drop and they still won’t address anything guaranteed. As long time fan this just hurts I tried to get into other fighters but they just don’t hit the same way MK does. I play the other fighters but there’s nothing like MK and watching it go down this road is terrible.

I miss the grim and gritty aesthetic of MK that it had in the very early installments. It was gothic and mixed with 80s action/martial arts movies and eastern mysticism complimented with dystopian scifi fantasy. And that formula worked. Idk wtf I am looking at or what vibe they keep reaching for with "MK1"
100% agree forget the game mechanics that’s kind of debatable what people want. What can’t be denied is how massive the difference in vibe and atmosphere has become. Whatever this new direction is it’s really bad, pissing people off, and couldn’t be further from what the first few MKs were trying to do.

Just about all that left when John Tobias left midway. It was his art design and ideas of the mythology that made mk. I miss this disembodied voice during matches and the unique music and stages the first 4 games had. Especially MK2 they just need to go back and look at how different and amazing that game really is soundtrack and the atmosphere is legendary. Hope they get back on track. Really miss Mk..

When mk11 got released i knew going forward mk franchise and nrs were on a downward spiral. Saw this coming from miles away. I got laughed when i said mkx was the better game out of the 3 now look people going back to mkx. Time to hit wb/nrs where it hurts.... Their wallets.
MK11 was a bad package overall. The story was absolute garbage, horribly imbalanced, was a slow paced game compared to the previous entries and the overall mobile style menus and modes that maybe it should have been a freemium game from the start.

The moment I saw the retconning and re-racialisation of the characters, I knew it would be, first and foremost, "woke" garbage. When I saw the gameplay, I knew MK1 was a nail in the franchise's coffin. Everything that has come after that, has been the brand's death throes.
The simple ideia of "Peacemaker (an extra character/content that doesn't belong to the core of the game) is going to save MK1" just shows how screwed MK 1 is.
This is why I like you, Mike Hollow and Dynasty. You 3 and very few other Content Creators will hold Netherrealm accountable for this BS content and crossplay shenanigans. Why other Content Creators won't is baffling, they will sometimes say they're disappointed in the content but never outright call them out. Which is ironic because I've heard the current MK1 was supposed to be Injustice 3 before the idea got scrapped. Even cameo system would've made more sense in Injustice with hero-sidekick dynamics.
It's so cathartic listening to Tom venting because I went through the same thing with Cities Skylines. They would sell you a DLC filled with bugs and it took them 14 MONTHS to fix it. Within days modders had solved the issue for free but the devs took over a year to make the DLC work as it was meant to. It was worse than NRS, but listening to Tom speak I'm seeing the same things happening with MK1. The devs just don't care. They put in the absolute bare minimum effort they can get away with and ignore the community when problems are raised. Yet fans kept praising them and gobbling it up. Now Cities Skylines 2 is tanking (30% positive reviews on Steam over the last month) and I shake my head knowing why, and Tom's explained it perfectly. Though it's a different game, the feelings of disappointment, disbelief, and rage are the same. I've been an MK fan since 1992 and it's so sad to watch the series crash like this as MK1 makes one mistake after another and NRS turns a blind eye to it.
Well, after the Injustice 2 gear debacle we knew that NRS been done already done had herses on the lazy front. They would make one finished gear piece, name it, and then strip pieces off and name that as a separate gear piece. So we been knew aboush

The MK3 Sub Zero Skin from MK9 almost looks better than that trash skin they gave us. And that game is almost 13 years old. 😂 And I think they literally gave that Mk9 skin away for free with an update. Fast forward to 2024, and we now have to pay $5-$10 for a single half-assed skin, or an announcer voice. 😂

Well, WB did the DC series, which many argue is better and more grittier that the counterpart MCU (the DC films certainly stands up better now than the Marvel films do)... Only to screw it up (cancelling Justice League 2; dumping Cavill; not releasing films in logical order et al.). So, it would be forgivable to believe that they could have handle an I. P. like MK; even make it better, given the property licenses they had access to and could (and did) incorporate into the series. The thing no one foresaw was BLACK ROCK, and companies signing onto their culturally destructive "EGS" / "DEI" programs; which directly affected media design and production.
NRS have been taking the piss of the players since MK10? Injustice 1? Being as greedy as posible and caring little to nothing for the players. The players have been allowing them do it so far, this is as much NRS' fault as it is the players 😢
I’ve been saying this for a while now that MK has lost its klassic vibe from the music, costumes and tone. I’m just glad I’m not the only one who notices this. It all started with the easy fatality tokens in X ever since then it’s been getting worse to a point where it just feels like a free to play game which is just beyond sad.

When mk11 got released i knew going forward mk franchise and nrs were on a downward spiral. Saw this coming from miles away. I got laughed when i said mkx was the better game out of the 3 now look people going back to mkx. Time to hit wb/nrs where it hurts.... Their wallets.
MK11 was a bad package overall. The story was absolute garbage, horribly imbalanced, was a slow paced game compared to the previous entries and the overall mobile style menus and modes that maybe it should have been a freemium game from the start.

It's so cathartic listening to Tom venting because I went through the same thing with Cities Skylines. They would sell you a DLC filled with bugs and it took them 14 MONTHS to fix it. Within days modders had solved the issue for free but the devs took over a year to make the DLC work as it was meant to. It was worse than NRS, but listening to Tom speak I'm seeing the same things happening with MK1. The devs just don't care. They put in the absolute bare minimum effort they can get away with and ignore the community when problems are raised. Yet fans kept praising them and gobbling it up. Now Cities Skylines 2 is tanking (30% positive reviews on Steam over the last month) and I shake my head knowing why, and Tom's explained it perfectly. Though it's a different game, the feelings of disappointment, disbelief, and rage are the same. I've been an MK fan since 1992 and it's so sad to watch the series crash like this as MK1 makes one mistake after another and NRS turns a blind eye to it.

If you were to tell me years back when NRS was still Midway and you would tell me years later that Warner Bros would buy Midway out and would tarnish the Midway name and run MK into ground. I'd be calling you nuts. But the reality of the situation is just plain ugly and real.
Well, WB did the DC series, which many argue is better and more grittier that the counterpart MCU (the DC films certainly stands up better now than the Marvel films do)... Only to screw it up (cancelling Justice League 2; dumping Cavill; not releasing films in logical order et al.). So, it would be forgivable to believe that they could have handle an I. P. like MK; even make it better, given the property licenses they had access to and could (and did) incorporate into the series. The thing no one foresaw was BLACK ROCK, and companies signing onto their culturally destructive "EGS" / "DEI" programs; which directly affected media design and production.
This is truly corporate MK. The worst timeline. They got our money and don't listen to the community.
