Stick. I pulled that move on the only guided trip I have ever been on. We both laughed when it blew up as the skiff got closer. I now cast at every "stick" I see. I could listen to these stories all day. Incredibly talented and incredibly humble. Thanks for bringing this to us.
I think most people are sad for these days to be gone, me, I can not get enough of this information. I am going to listen to every one of your episodes. There is so much to learn from them. I only wish I got this bug 40 years ago. I turn 60 this year I have a ton of time to make up.
Andy & Nicky you hit a home run with that interview. arguably one of the best light tackle saltwater angler/guides and another great one from Miami. Really insightful listening to his experiences. Thank you.
Now this is my kind of guy. Just listening to him speak the way he does, it’s like I’m surrounded but my Marine Corps brothers. With that, I think I’ll be “Jerk’n my Merkin” later today. 👍
Awesome interview, grew up hearing stories of the legendary days. My father spent 70 days a year with capt Bus Bergman. Such an excellent hobby to pursue.
Great podcast , i think its Great that your recording these interviews with the legends of our sport , hearing fishing stories from the past is so cool , the thought of being dragged through the water by a Tarpon Blows my mind , I have seen how the sharks home in on Tarpon , Wow , and to be hooked to a poon for that amount of time , just Incredible .
I know you guys are fans and owners of Hell’s Bay skiffs:). How’bout a podcast w cofounders Chris M., Hal C. and Flip P.?? Might have a hard time tracking down Chris M....
So what do you think happens to the bones when they reach 8 lbs they just don’t stoop growing or do you think the food source that made the big bones is gone
Man, Steve needs a part 2. I bet you haven't even brushed the surface of the history.

Around 1:20 the movie Tarpon was discussed. Is it available?
It is but it's hard to find. You might be able to find it on Amazon. It's pure gold!

Great stuff! 10 lb bones and 7 permit in a day.
Just throwing out a request for a second podcast with Steve.
Just wow.
7 permit in one day!
Unbelievable right?
@@millhousepodcast Sandy confirmed it! He wrote that they "caught 5 on several occasions and probably a dozen triples."

The big bones are all about gone
The giants are gone, still some big bones out there but not many you can find easily.
