Super Mario Odyssey wasn't that difficult a game to beat, nor very long to beat the main story. The joy was everything that happened after. Happy to hear this game sounds the same.
Arena sounds fun. I love it when games create a separate space to push the difficultly to its limit. Ratchet and Clank arena was so fun with the “impossible challenge” it would make sense for Nintendo to have easy/enjoyable story mode and more challenging endgame activities for us sweaty gamerz
Kirby games aren’t supposed to be necessarily hard so I never really cared if it was hard or not. Fun is the name of the game here and I can definitely say it’s fun! Snow level has awesome music!!
Somebody gets it. Kirby games don't have to be an Elden Ring, controller breaking, monitor smacking level of difficulty in order to be fun. In my opinion, the difficulty when it comes to Kirby games these days is what you make of it. You can either play it normally, or do some kind of ridiculous challenge like play through the whole campaign without taking a single hit or something lol.
"Kirby & The Forgotten Land" is good enough to be my Game of The Year. A fun trivia, the Japanese title is "Kirby Discovery". I like the Japanese title better. Has a nice ring which complements "Super Mario Odyssey".

Played the Demo and actually really enjoyed it so I ordered it and still waiting for it to be delivered. I never thought at the age of 46 I would be excited about playing a Kirby game but here I am.

I'm really enjoying it. It's a nice change from rpgs and open world games. Really well designed for Kirby's first foray into 3D. Would like a 3rd difficulty level but a beautiful game on the OLED and perfect for a relaxing weekend.
We pre-ordered it and have been having a blast with it. Yes it's easy. Yes, that's ok. If you need a challenge, go buy a metroidvania game. This game is just a visual joy to behold.
The game was ok to me. The whole game felt really linear and I don't like how you can only solve a puzzle in a certain way, it doesn't give you too much freedom. The game looks stunning but the game design is a bit... simple and dated. Still love Kirby tho.
For anyone that ownes an OLED I would suggest going into the settings and changing the video from vivid to standard because the game can have a little too much contrast at times and it will even it out perfectly

There’s more to it then just being easy for it being good. Also there is a lot of lore to kirby so the story isn’t as bland as people think.
I don't know where you're getting Kirby used to be difficult thing from. First Kirby game was Kirby's Dreamland on Gameboy and it was made as a beginner platformer to get people ready for games like Mario. It was made to be the easier platformer from the beginning.
I don't know why some people apparently expect Kirby games to be challenging. It seems to me that Kirby games are intentionally designed to be relatively simple and just fun.
It's not that I expect Kirby games to be as challenging as a Souls game, but when they require so little skill and lack challenge when compared to Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star, that's a problem.
True, but that doesn't stop Nintendo from upping the difficulty at times as they did when it comes with doing more post game content like Extra Mode or The True Arena. Some bosses get tougher as you advance in levels and/or fights. And they always leave the toughest for the most persistent of players. I've trounced most post-game bosses by far, but that leaves me with Star Allies and the bosses in the Forgotten Land. I'm nearly at the end of my run with Soul Melter with Star Allies, and I know Forgotten Land has a good set of challenges after my initial game. As for the multitude of players who expect a lot of game to have "their" standard of challenging is due to their own perspectives and the games they're used to in their generation. So, they can be ranging from a bit childish to overly expecting too much from video games because Dark Souls and other challenging games gave them a lot of fun. You can't expect much out of Kirby. Although I do wish they provide more levels to break the standards a bit. Probably when they do DLC if the game is a success. But I won't know until they announce more content for it.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is apparently different from Star Allies. I'm not the greatest of gamers, but I'm finding it a little challenging to find all the hidden Waddle Dees. I'm just curious what the ones complaining about Forgotten Land being too easy were expecting.
@CJ P. in most open world games there alot more than just fetch quests alot of them have you fight an enemy,learn about a character or even unlock something really cool. I cant really think of any new open world games with bad ones,also going from level to level is just as tedious
@@austinwilson5341 Not really regarding levels getting tedious, especially with Kirby games as they typically have great level design as opposed to just flat-out difficult, and collectables can usually be found without actually having to do hassle.

I don't see why Kirby Star Allies gets so much hate, I loved the Kirby games growing up and still do. I skipped the WiiU and 3ds era and playing star allies brought so much nostalgia feeling, It felt like I was playing a combination of the Kirby Return to Dreamland(Wii) game mixed with the Kirby's dreamland for the GBA with a few additions from the releases I never played. It was familiar but also fresh at the same time. I'll definitely be picking up this one when I get the chance to.
I don't hate Kirby Star Allies, but it was so absurdly easy compared to Kirby's Adventure (NES), Kirby Super Star (SNES), Return to Dreamland (Wii) and the two 3DS games that it really did feel like a let down. I found myself constantly dismissing my 3 helpers every chance I got in a desperate attempt to find at least some challenge as I barely had to even play the game when those aggressive psychos were around. When even some of the common enemies from the 8 and 16-bit era present more of a challenge and require more genuine skill to defeat then some of these newer titles in their entirety, something is definitely wrong.
it's a crime that this man talks about difficulty when he plays like this @9:08. Jokes aside I love this game and its definitely my favorite kirby game easily. I also think most 3d platformers's main stories are pretty short, the real meat is getting 100% tbh although I think that will take around 15-20 hours to do in this game.
Game was a huge improvement from allies. Hoped for a bit more gameplay. Decided to trade in the hard copy to get a full refund. Not really a $60 game I'd say. More like 40ish
Pre ordered and stood in line for it. It's a good laid back stress free game. Super easy, I am bout 4 hrs into and maybe died once because I was being really cocky, you pretty much button smash everyone to death. The weapons upgrades are a good bonus. The side missions that are timed are fairly challenging though. I mean, you'll eventually complete under the time limit but it will take you a few times to memorize the patterns and get the timings down. For sure better than Star Allies though, the 3d aspect though, it's hard to compare.
really if you were expecting some huge revolution from this game it is hard to see why. Because the games have always been about that simple bite sized fun that all gens could pick up and play going all the way back to the first game. When i saw this i knew it was going to be good but i wasnt expecting huge changes other than 3D being here.
It's more an issue of challenge, or lack thereof. You've clearly never played some of the earlier games in the series. The mini-bosses in Kirby's Adventure for the NES present more of a challenge than any of these newer Kirby games in their entirety. I can put up with excessive availability of health pick-ups and enemies and obstacles not causing much damage, but when enemies, including bosses, barely fight back, it can get to be a bit boring. I've only played the demo so far, but when the first boss only hit me, like once, despite the fact I was trying it out after a long day of work and about 4 hours of sleep the previous night, that seems to be a bit ridiculous and that was on the quote, unquote "hard mode". Is the "easy" mode designed for people in comas?

And you do cite the challenge that was in some of the early games but that can be equating to the fact NES and SNES games many could be downright unfair so for a series all about the easy pick up fun it is still going to have some challenge in the era of unfair games. But as time went on it made sense that the challenge decreased because gamming had changed.
I managed to pick up a physical version of this game a day before the release date, went home and played it with my son, and wel... we had a blast. Totally thought it was dope. Very simple, but very entertaining, definitely a step up from Star Allies.
I wanna say they're just normal dudes that get controlled or manipulated? But my main Kirby knowledge comes from fuzzy memories of the show when i was a kid.

Just starting to chug my way through it, I absolutely love it so far. This is the most fun I've had with a Kirby game since Kirby's Dreamland 2 on my GameBoy... seriously so well done, and I agree, it's just dumb fun, and that's okay.

I’m glad I preordered it, I’m having a huge blast, my favorite Kirby games are Magic Mirror and Planet Robobot but I think this game may blow those out of the water for me.

Super Mario 3D World. Kirby 3D world. Now Give us DK 3D world and Nintendo 3D World, where Mario, Link, Kirby and DK have to Save their Friends or something. I am happy that Nintendo keeps platformers triple A.
Got it on launch day and have only done the first World so far but its the most fun I've had with a game for a while. The co-op is great for me too as I've got a 5 year old who's starting to play games
None of the Kirby games but the very first are particularly hard. I breezed through Kirby’s Adventure on the NES , while the original Kirby’s Dreamland had me sweatin’ like I was playing Ninja Gaiden. So difficulty in Kirby games, to me, are not even part of the discussion. Kirby games are just…fun. Not every game needs to be Dark Souls to be enjoyable.
Here’s the only truth you need, this Kirby game is way better than Star Allies. Star Allies was too easy, the levels felt like a chore to go through again if you missed something, it just wasn’t a lot of fun. This, however, struck the right balance of easy and hard(even though I’m only in World 2 right now), the stages actually compel you to return if you missed a challenge or forgot a collectible, and since you have a hub world that lets you use your coins and lets you play mini games, this is one style of Kirby I hope they continue to do in the future.
i mean, i do like what they did with the game and i already did download the DEMO. but i will wait until it gets cheaper. because i think, the biggest problem for me will be how very easy this game is. there probably will be an "extra hard" mode in the future, like they did with Metroid Dread. and maybe when the day comes, it may be cheaper and then i can enjoy it more as when i buy it now full price with the baby mode. :)
There's the Colosseum Boss Rush and especially its Z variation that'll put your skills to the test, not to mention there IS Postgame and 100% for challenges. Regardless of that, I don't know why difficulty is an issue regarding Kirby games- of course, until they actually just get auto-pilot easy with Star Allies's rather lackluster level design due to mechanics. They usually have creative level design with massive polish that'll inevitably make you smile.
@@consideratebulbproductions4277 i do like the Kirby games and i LOVE the desings and mechanics. but i am not a 100% gamer or Postgame player. i do play the story mode and thats my favorite part of games. but the Colosseum Boss Rush do sound interesting. but i do prefer a certain amount of difficulty in games, thats why i am a sucker for Dark Souls games (i am playing at the moment Elden Ring too. ;D ). otherwhise i will just watch LPs on youtube since i would regret buying games i finish way too fast because they are not hard enough. and that happened a few times too often for my taste. thats why i am looking forward to games that i like because of certain characters and designs. but sadly, they often are just auto-pilot easy games. a few exceptions are games like 'Little Nightmares', 'Metroid Dread', 'Zelda games', 'Undertale' and 'Hollow Knight'.

This game is vcery good. One critical point for me was...the graphics could have been a bit better. They are far from ugly, i like them. But for instance. 2017 mario odysey looks better. maybe a part 2 could up those. The graphics are pretty good tough and the levels also look good. But think they could have done a bit more, even on the old switch.

This is a good reminder to people that not everything needs to be a big open world game to be fun.

I also think most 3d platformers's main stories are pretty short, the real meat is getting 100% tbh although I think that will take around 15-20 hours to do in this game.

Game was a huge improvement from allies. Hoped for a bit more gameplay. Decided to trade in the hard copy to get a full refund. Not really a $60 game I'd say. More like 40ish
I uh… Kirby games tend to be short… the longest Kirby game to date is probably Kirby’s Return to Dreamland which takes about 3 days.
I'm definitely going to pick this game up.
Pre ordered and stood in line for it. It's a good laid back stress free game. Super easy, I am bout 4 hrs into and maybe died once because I was being really cocky, you pretty much button smash everyone to death. The weapons upgrades are a good bonus. The side missions that are timed are fairly challenging though. I mean, you'll eventually complete under the time limit but it will take you a few times to memorize the patterns and get the timings down. For sure better than Star Allies though, the 3d aspect though, it's hard to compare.
really if you were expecting some huge revolution from this game it is hard to see why. Because the games have always been about that simple bite sized fun that all gens could pick up and play going all the way back to the first game. When i saw this i knew it was going to be good but i wasnt expecting huge changes other than 3D being here.
It's more an issue of challenge, or lack thereof. You've clearly never played some of the earlier games in the series. The mini-bosses in Kirby's Adventure for the NES present more of a challenge than any of these newer Kirby games in their entirety. I can put up with excessive availability of health pick-ups and enemies and obstacles not causing much damage, but when enemies, including bosses, barely fight back, it can get to be a bit boring. I've only played the demo so far, but when the first boss only hit me, like once, despite the fact I was trying it out after a long day of work and about 4 hours of sleep the previous night, that seems to be a bit ridiculous and that was on the quote, unquote "hard mode". Is the "easy" mode designed for people in comas?
@@davidaitken8503 well again it is the easy pick up and play that a 3 year old could do. And you do cite the challenge that was in some of the early games but that can be equating to the fact NES and SNES games many could be downright unfair so for a series all about the easy pick up fun it is still going to have some challenge in the era of unfair games. But as time went on it made sense that the challenge decreased because gamming had changed.
I managed to pick up a physical version of this game a day before the release date, went home and played it with my son, and wel... we had a blast. Totally thought it was dope. Very simple, but very entertaining, definitely a step up from Star Allies.
Although star allies are still a very good game(especially with the updates).

I’m glad I preordered it, I’m having a huge blast, my favorite Kirby games are Magic Mirror and Planet Robobot but I think this game may blow those out of the water for me.

It's not a difficult game, but its a TON of fun. My son and I have been playing it the past two days and having a blast.
Got it on launch day and have only done the first World so far but its the most fun I've had with a game for a while. The co-op is great for me too as I've got a 5 year old who's starting to play games
None of the Kirby games but the very first are particularly hard. I breezed through Kirby’s Adventure on the NES , while the original Kirby’s Dreamland had me sweatin’ like I was playing Ninja Gaiden.
So difficulty in Kirby games, to me, are not even part of the discussion.

Here’s the only truth you need, this Kirby game is way better than Star Allies. Star Allies was too easy, the levels felt like a chore to go through again if you missed something, it just wasn’t a lot of fun. This, however, struck the right balance of easy and hard(even though I’m only in World 2 right now), the stages actually compel you to return if you missed a challenge or forgot a collectible, and since you have a hub world that lets you use your coins and lets you play mini games, this is one style of Kirby I hope they continue to do in the future.

i mean, i do like what they did with the game and i already did download the DEMO. but i will wait until it gets cheaper.
because i think, the biggest problem for me will be how very easy this game is.
there probably will be an "extra hard" mode in the future, like they did with Metroid Dread.
and maybe when the day comes, it may be cheaper and then i can enjoy it more as when i buy it now full price with the baby mode. :)
There's the Colosseum Boss Rush and especially its Z variation that'll put your skills to the test, not to mention there IS Postgame and 100% for challenges.
Regardless of that, I don't know why difficulty is an issue regarding Kirby games- of course, until they actually just get auto-pilot easy with Star Allies's rather lackluster level design due to mechanics. They usually have creative level design with massive polish that'll inevitably make you smile.
@@consideratebulbproductions4277 i do like the Kirby games and i LOVE the desings and mechanics. but i am not a 100% gamer or Postgame player. i do play the story mode and thats my favorite part of games. but the Colosseum Boss Rush do sound interesting. but i do prefer a certain amount of difficulty in games, thats why i am a sucker for Dark Souls games (i am playing at the moment Elden Ring too. ;D ). otherwhise i will just watch LPs on youtube since i would regret buying games i finish way too fast because they are not hard enough. and that happened a few times too often for my taste.
thats why i am looking forward to games that i like because of certain characters and designs. but sadly, they often are just auto-pilot easy games. a few exceptions are games like 'Little Nightmares', 'Metroid Dread', 'Zelda games', 'Undertale' and 'Hollow Knight'.

Got the game after an hour playing it was soo good and refreshing. Your correct the music is awesome can’t wait to hear the ost for the ice stages like you said.
This game is vcery good. One critical point for me was...the graphics could have been a bit better. They are far from ugly, i like them. But for instance. 2017 mario odysey looks better. maybe a part 2 could up those. The graphics are pretty good tough and the levels also look good. But think they could have done a bit more, even on the old switch.
