its a miracle that this game even runs on a Switch. I only play in VR and that's a real challenge for any hardware. But it's totally worth it. There is nothing like playing NMS in VR.
1500 hours and haven't even explored 1% of "No man's sky". I can't regret this game one day we will possibly get multi-player on Nintendo Switch. I like frigates I'd love one, and probably live on one.
I wasn't sure if I was ever going to buy it on the switch or wait until I had a beefy PC to play it on. But after seeing so many updates being added and it being 60% off, and they added fishing! I figured it was time to give it a try and I have not regretted it. If the fun continues for a while, I'll consider getting it for PC
Ay, nice video. Love the game, too. Especially after all the updates. I've put like 130 hours in so far. Also, tho, it sounds like you may be talking into the wrong side of your microphone. Either that, or maybe you've spread the width of the audio a bit heavily in post-editing. But it sounds as if you're voice is coming from behind my ears. From experience, it sounds like you're talking into the side or back of the microphone that isn't multidirectional. (Edit: maybe it's something else, because the L and R sides sounded like they came out of sync after about 11min. Does go back tho.)
Yeah you are so right! My mic is completely screwed up lol! It actually seemed to finally go out after like 25 years on this video! It did its best! I have a Shure SM55 I’m gonna use until I can find a new condenser mic. Thanks for watching! I am blown away by NMS and what they have done , it’s probably the most meaningful game experience I’ve had in years and maybe ever!

Yeah honestly. I played NMS on Xbox a ton. I didn't get a Switch until late last year. I only tried NMS on Switch recently. I wasn't expecting it to be fun, at all. I mostly tried it out of curiosity. But man, it's near identical to the Xbox version, with exceptions for graphics being lower res, some stutter/lag, and some possible multiplayer stuff. But the framerate issues haven't been bad enough to bother me, the graphics are fine, especially since I play in handheld most of the time anyway, and I play single player regardless. Like, the fact that NMS exists on Switch, with ALL of it's free content updates, and it even runs at all is damn amazing. But the fact that it actually runs well enough to be an enjoyable game... that's just bananas.

I also need to get a Pro Controller finally as the drift in my JoyCon has only gotten worse, making 3D affairs a bit challenging lol! I love the recent update to NMS with fishing. The game is truly a universal in your hand now!
Ive been playing this game for years now, have over 1000 hours! And yet, last night, while talking to a friend, i realized there is an entire planet type i haven't even seen yet! Yay new adventure planned for later today!
@CalebMichaelRiley I found one!! You need the indium hyper drive. Look for blue stars with no local alien race. Like no Gek/Vyken/Korvax. Then, look for neutral weather. Paradise, grassy, tropical, etc. But I found one on an "aquamarine" planet, which had a very weird ugly light filter. When you land, look for the synthetic life creatures instead of the usual alien fauna. The living buildings are on the planets with the synthetic creatures. But not always. So prepare to do a lot of searching. Like.... a lot. I'm looking for a second, not so ugly planet with them to build a base on. But for now I have a huge tower pet I can ride around on and look ridiculous lol
Yeah I completely agree. Whatever you play this on, it's gone from being a disaster at launch to THE greatest space exploration game ever made. It's like the late night infomercial of space games: but wait, there's MORE. Get tired of exploring? Be an admiral of a fleet and send them out on missions. Or fight a pirate dreadnought. Or build a base with hundreds of parts. Or take over a town and defend it. Map out a local trade route and make millions. Find abandoned bases in an underwater biome. Loot a derelict freighter and fight off aliens and AI for parts. Follow one of the story paths and discover all the lore. And you do that in one of ten galaxies (that are to SCALE with the real deal) and quintillions of planets, each of which is around 20-80 kilometers squared in size. It's just ... nuts. Even if this version is objectively the worst. Which is like saying 'this is the worst three michelin star restaurant'.
So well said I’m compelled to pin his comment! Only thing I wish for is a pro controller and maybe at least 2 player online coop. But I’m grateful to have this game, as it fulfills a deep rooted desire I’ve always shared with my father, to explore the cosmos!

Sean Murray spent months before launch talking about everything you could do in the game, only for people to buy it and realize 90% of it was missing. It was all a lie. Then he disappeared for a month. No public statements or apologies. Radio silence. So props for eventually doing the right thing, but Hello Games wasn't a victim of entitled gamers. He scammed us.
As someone who just came back to NMS after years and years, the framerate on the switch version here hurts my soul. Its impressive it even runs, but man run this on any mid level PC instead if you can.
Ok! Thanks for the tip. I’m just obsessed with the portability factor of the Switch, it’s an outstanding port all things considered, and it ends up being very convenient for me a lot of times with my life. (That’s how dedicated I am lol) I may pick it up for my PS4 or Laptop, it’s just not really very well suited for gaming, it’s mostly used for music production.
“Review is a stretch” it’s more of an opinion piece, I will eventually give it a full review as a game, but I will probably wait until I have more in game experience and understand it more, also I might want to review a different version like PC or PS so I can give the game its best representation possible.
Playing this game is like a mini vacation. I’m 100% with you on this, it has every aspect I look for in a game all in one place. I mine and trade and craft to fund my base building habit. Oh my God the things that you can do. I’ve logged about 400 hours of play and I’m still as enthralled as I was the first hour of play. It’s a never ending source of joy as long as you maintain a sense of wonder. it does have its own little idiosyncrasies and can drive you nuts from time to time, especially playing it on a switch. But in this case, the juice is definitely worth the squeeze.

Long and personal story that I have gone over in previous videos, but I’ve been here for over half a decade. What part do you live in? I live near Sacramento, it’s not too bad, tons of options for work, fun and food? Seriously overpopulated though.
Love this game & have it on every platform. Switch is the hardest one to play on. Basically this game is an open world space D&D where you play the role of a character with no memory, no real quests and no end. Not a game for everyone, but it’s my ASMR and the thousands of hours I spent are precious & I still look to improve builds & do more. But seriously, play on any system except switch! Almost unplayable on switch & I don’t see Nintendo making that any better anytime soon.
I do not like the switch version. I got it years ago on a sale for only $20. I didn't know the switch version DOES NOT HAVE ONLINE!!! It's pointless if you can't play online with others. No space exploring with friends or strangers. This is a huge game with emphasis on online play with others. Wish I could get my time and money back
@SmartSmears I wanted to play with my son but the switch version doesn't allow online cross play. Not to mention the events you can do with others from the anomaly. If I wanted to be a pirate on the game I get AI crew not friends with me. NMS is a huge game ment to be shared and played by other players. It's the core of the game and breaks up the recycled gameplay like games from the 90's. As fun as it can be solo, Nintendo ripped the heart of the game out and gave us a shell

Sure, you might be able to see it on the switch but it's lifeless because no other online player will be there. Real players can trade with each other which leads to items not available in space stations or black markets. Players online can also effect the sales and trade by over populating items bringing the value down. It's like we are missing half of the game yet they charge full price for the game. What a joke
Thats great u love what part of the game u have played, but seriously what a joke to say this is ur favorite game ever after not even have played for more than probably 10 hours, u havent gotten a new multi-tool, havent gotten a new ship, havent gotten a freighter, havent actually built a real base (with the npc terminals), havent found a settlement, havent done any of the atlas stuff, (and this is like stuff that i have done and i am a new player with less than 30 hours in the game) like this is seriously a joke, dont make reviews of games when u havent played the game!!!

There's lore if you're interested but you have to find a lot of it. There's some main story stuff too involving the space anomaly. And expeditions which are limited time events basically, each have their own unique stories.
Exploration, base building, has a story I personally like. It's full of freedom. Mining, crafting, flying from planet to planet, owning huge frigates, having your squad who helps you in space battles. Sadly, the big drawback of the Switch version is the lack of online support. The PC and other versions have an online hub, you can play with friends, super fun. It starts slowly but as you upgrade your ship(s), build bases, explore interesting worlds, adopt animals, etc... time flies quickly with this game.

I don't think I'd say multi-player is thay big of an aspect to NMS, I can see other people's bases and discoveries and that's good enough for me
