Australian here. Fun fact, usually when the Simpsons visit a country the episode does poorly in that country, but the Australia episode was very popular here.

Well, they didn't get Brazil wrong. It really is like that down there! Simpson's would not have made that joke if it wasn't somewhat true. They are notorious for bringing up real things and making a fun episode of it. It is their way of bring up serious issues to the public. Always has been. It is a tactic that works.
That's because the Australian episode was based on truth (well, except for the boot in the butt).

Yes, but think about Brazil for example. People will stay away or move away from that area in particular and that will ruin the country so it makes sense why they took legal action against it. There’s doing a parody and then there’s people taking it seriously so they stop going there and Brazil becomes a poor country once again

But given their past histories of not holding back when stereotyping celebrities, you'd think that would make the network a bigger target. Given Trump's well-established behavior as a sociopath, even he didn't sue them or Alec Baldwin.
@@deadgalaxy1 No disrespect, but Brazil is a very horribly run country. I'd imagine tourists fare better by being in safer locations, although films like City of God definitely establish the corrupt and violent nature of regular citizens living there.
SNL did at least one debacle mocking a public figure when they mocked a NY former governor’s legal blindness. That did end fairly well as their subject appeared to clap back on them 😂
The Sega lawsuit against 'Road Rage' wasn't for imitating the 'Crazy Taxi' gameplay (imagine Doom suing every first person shooter that's come out since).. it was for the navigation style/hud that Road Rage used which Sega had a patent on.
I have no idea about sega vs simpsons case but Doom's code was open source and that allowed for so many clones.

Actually I fully agree. Having played both it wasn't an imitation of Crazy Taxi but a downright CLONE with changed sprites and audio. That's how I saw it from a gamer perspective.
Which is fucking weird because other games before Road Rage used the same 3D arrow navigation mechanic and usually got away with it.
Asking for 250 million dollars in damages is a real Dr. Evil asking for a billion moment.
Fox suing themselves is basically just this:

Matt Groening in a 2007 interview promoting The Simpsons Movie on The Daily Show said the reason why Fox News complained was because they were concerned their viewers couldn’t tell the difference between their news ticker and The Simpsons version

Honestly, I'm not surprised about the random father trying to sue The Simpsons. I grew up throughout the late 80s and 90s and it was so common back then to hear parents blaming TV and movies, (along with video games) animated or live action for their kids behavior despite some of these shows weren't even intended to be made for children to begin with. I remember one such instance being parents complaining when the first live action Ninja Turtles movie released about the turtles actually using their weapons despite there being no blood or gore of any kind, which is why the weapons were often not shown or kept holstered in the sequel Secret of the Ooze.
Also, I must say that Brazil is a dangerous place. My stepfather's brother was brutally murdered after going down there. He was brutally beaten, eye ripped out and shot three times.
Suggestion: Top 20 cartoon characters with genius-level intellect.

They would have won, parodies are protected by US law. You can make a parody of anything, as long as your parody isn’t a 1 for 1 copy of the movie.
This show is pure class in itself. Dark humour and pissing people off in general

@@freya8133 cancelling characters because it stereotypes them. While still having mafia characters and Scotsmen wearing kilts and playing bagpipes. Changing characters voice actors because they aren't the same race. They have completely lost it.

They should make a simpsons rpg and you can play as different family members of the simpsons ( and a few secret side characters ) and you get different parts of the story depending on who you play, as long as they put it on pc as well as consoles I would play that in a heart beat.

The Tracey Ullman one didn't even make any sense legally, James L. Brooks created her show so he owned the Simpsons completely from day one. That was just pure greed, and even then she wanted nothing to do with the shorts at all. Pure unadulterated greed.

This show is great classic show everybody loves it dark humour
That exactly the reaction I'd expect from Morrissey.
That's because it was not based in reality at all. Satire only works when it's based on truth. He's not obese, he still doesn't eat meat, the voice and accent is wrong, the looks are wrong (past and present), he doesn't "hate everything and everyone", and he's not a racist. His interviews are taken out of context by the British papers because he hates the royal family and once applauded the attempted assassination of Margaret Thatcher. What was portrayed on The Simpsons is his media image, not what he's really like.
He never complained about Beavis and Butt-Head and they made fun of him too.

I heard once from one of my old teachers that the Simpsons theme song was really the Jetsons theme with an extra note added. You can't sing "Meet George Jetson" with said extra note unless you slurred the last syllable under the last two notes. If this is the case, then don't ask me why there's no known case of Hanna-Barbera suing the show.

This is odd. SEGA is known for being so chill about Sonic fan made games unlike Nintendo which they're well known to sue the hell out of you. Maybe if the Simpsons episode was about Sonic they wouldn't sue them. We already know how SEGA mistreated Sonic the Hedgehog over a decade that at this point is considered an animal abuse lol
it wasn't an episode, it was a video game that released on store shelves and whatnot. the lawsuit wasn't about the gameplay exactly it was about specific elements that sega had patented

The Simpsons were my favorite sitcom in the 90's, but I had no idea The Simpsons were sued over such legitimate and weird lawsuits, I'm just glad that none of these many lawsuits ended the Simpsons for good, because The Simpsons are still a great show and is still a funny show to watch to this day ✊

I didn't notice The Simpsons Road Rage was based off on a game called Crazy Taxi And I didn't know Sega ended up suing Electronic Arc and 20 Century Fox Back in 2001 and pretty much The game is pretty fun after all And I mean I don't get it why Sega ended up suing both companies for no reason
Simpsons Road Rage was awesome. Why couldn't Sega just let Fox make it and get royalties or something? It could've made fans happy and gotten paid in the process. Also, good PR wouldn't have hurt.
It's funny that Fox started out airing extremely risqué shows to get noticed, then spawned one of the biggest alt right news networks of all time.

I know my Godfather and me wanted to watch a movie and we wanted our niece to watch it too as it was educational.
I quickly told her that she was too young to watch it. Naturally she raised a real stink about wanting to watch it then.
I finally relented. Me and my Godfather clapped our hands together in victory at the end as she looked at us with a look of bewilderment.
