In "Boy Scouts in the Hood" season 5, there is a frame where 2 Homers appear in the frame simultaneously.
It is probably something Simpsons fans generally understand as a sight gag.
It took a while to connect. For me.
It's the frame where you see homer sitting on the couch and homer also appears at the door outside the window.
If someone wants to refresh my memory that would be great. I know its some kind of meta joke.
Homer's hand still clamped to Bart when he takes it away is spooky and should be more than a honorable mention.
Even Mel Gibson is freaked out.

I remember that episode it was a Halloween special, Lucy lawless said it when asked about the mistakes in her show Xena: warrior princess, funny.
But in episode BF73- “Wizard!”. One of my favorite scenes.
I actually really like it when visual mistakes are left in cartoons, it is somehow charming and silly to me.
Maybe some people didn't get paid enough, and screwed up the animation cells on purpose.
Or production was rushed.
Black Smithers wasn’t a mistake. It was a creative decision to change him from black to yellow.
Retrospectively a great a decision
True it is good they switched him to yellow but Carl was the only black guy next to Bleeding Gums Murphy in the early seasons
@NoodleSoup no, they decided that a black character acting as a loyal slave to a rich white man was in poor taste.
To add a few more:
In a flashback episode where Marge is pregnant with Maggie, you can still see a picture of Maggie above the staircase
There are also a few different scenarios where Homer first heard of Marge being pregnant with Maggie. First he heards it from Dr Hibbert in his office, then he heards it from Marge at home where he pulls out his hair
Maybe it wasn't suppose to be maggie, but lisa?

don't forget that in Homer's Barbershop Quartet, with the Homer dummy being buried in the backyard, we see see SLH burying him, Lisa was a toddler in that episode's flashback. She was 8 when the family adopted SLH.
The mix up with Ralph and Nelson’s voice can be forgiven since they share the same voice actress. Lenny and Carl however cannot since they have different voice actors.
Lenny & Carl occasionally practice their ventriloquism act. (Nelson's on their apprenticeship program.)
Well there is that future tense episode where Lenny and Carl switch brains

Apu's family temporally escape the Simpsons time loop
Manjula got pregnant and gave birth (pregnancies usually take around 9 months)
Apu's children aged up a season later outgrowing Maggie in numbers of ways
(They can easily walk, talk, and wear normal clothing)
Kent Brockman clearly says it was "hour 57" of their coverage and the news chopper had just arrived. It was clearly a time jump.

wouldn't really call Marvin Monroe a mistake. Besides, he's off the show again and was rarely used to begin with because it was taxing on Harry's voice.
I love that the Simpson are goofing around with mistakes... like in the scene with two Homers...
Also in Homer's Odyssey, there is a scene in the plant that closes up on Sherri and Terri having a conversation about how their dad is better than Bart's. In this scene, the forgot to draw in one of the twin's bodies and everything below her neck line is missing it is just a floating head and their hair. It is a creepy and funny mistake.

Take your pick between a tropical resort and a tanning salon; more than one explanation for Smithers' complexion.
And yes, we do glean more about him later in the series. What we learn is that he's Mr. Burns' assistant. He's in his early forties, is unmarried, and currently resides in Springfield.
They bought Dr. Marvin Monroe back indeed.
In one of the treehouse of horror episodes he’s a ghost who gets stuck in walls he says he’s in a form of limbo. It’s a newer episode too.
I wish y’all did a top ten about Simpson Physics in the show. I think it would be hilarious to talk about their science compared to actual science.
That would have to be a top 20 because the series chock full of them.

First things that came to my mind when someone told me the whole "Simpsons physics" thing were the log on Lombard Street and the dumpster in the 24 episode. Both seemed to have magical momentum. Where's this mythical physics accuracy?
Oh, and there was the time Bart & Homer were tethered together. Felt like the show was showing its age.
Bart hits a homerun. Homer trips.
Somehow Bart can still run the bases while dragging his father as if he's weightless.
I never even seen this show but its funny how popular it is.
Honorable Mention: There was an early episode- I believe it was Bart vs. Thansgiving- when Sgt. Lou and Officer Eddie from the Springfield PD are speaking in each other's voices. They were at the Simpson's house interviewing Marge & Homer after Bart ran away.
When did The Simpsons end for you? For me, I think it was probably the end of S11. ‘Behind The Laughter’ should have closed the series out with occasional specials thereafter.
Most of the nineties episodes were near perfect. Loved the Mulder and Scully episode.

Ever noticed in the intro Homer's car is a two-door, but in the show, it's a four-door?
Also, if you look closely Marge's car has the back of Homer's car, not the station wagon that it should be! It was this way until midway into season 20! Only the first episode of season 19 didn't have this mistake, because that into was redone after the movie!
I know this question is 2 years old, but I never noticed that.
One of my favorite gaffes happens at the end of season one, when Bart asks Herman how he lost his arm. I’d watch his response over and over as a child because the lip sync was terrible!
Bart’s shrimp allergy.
In a season 13 episode with that prank show called Frame up Bart said he was in the green room enjoying so much shrimp.
But in a season 18 episode Bart had a severe shrimp allergy
Allergies can grow and disappear. Okay - if he is really 10 years all the time, that's a mistake. :D
But we all know, that nothing is clear over the years, how old they are and when they were born. So Bart is around 40 years old in the shape of a little boy. ;)
He got the shrimp allergy between season 13 and season 18!

I love things like this in shows. The blink and you'll miss it type stuff. It can be amusing to go back and watch and see if you can spot it and maybe find more.
I liked the black version of Smithers, he wore a white lab coat which made him look more like someone who would actually know what they are doing in a nuclear power plant.
In the episode, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet", the church marquee said that The Be Sharps would be performing.......before Homer's group decided to call themselves that.
The worst one is when the kids are on a field trip at nuclear power plant. Sherri and Terri are talking to Bart. One of them has no body. Just a floating head

In Homer’s Odyssey there’s another mistake. When the kids are on their field trip to the nuclear plant, there’s a scene where Sherri and Terri are berating Bart for having an incompetent father. When Bart asks what incompetence means- it cuts to a scene where we see one of the twins explaining it to Bart. In that particular scene, however, the animators forgot to draw the rest of Sherri’s (or maybe it’s Terry’s?) body so it just looks like a floating head.

it's a shame they didn't explain # 1 away with a line like "my half brother or cousin took my shift when i was sick that day." or something like that. and then say the other smithers moved away or died offscreen.

I wouldnt agree with your choice of number 1 pick. Although many people may not know of it (especially if they haven't seen the early episodes) I have been aware of this mistake since I was a child and I knew the reason why

"Who shot Mr. Burns" they messed up Homer pretending to be Krusty vs Krusty in a final scene.
Could Homer and Abe have kept their almost-arsonism screwup a secret? Figure one of the rich characters offered them a favor between episodes, but no time to think it through. They ask for a restoration job. Architect believes they want the farmhouse's dilapidated condition recreated. Bart, for one, never knew it got destroyed, and no one's familiar enough with the premises to spot the differences.
Um, the layout of the house in every episode/season. 😂😂😂

What would happen if these mistakes were fixed?
I still remember a couple scenes from "New Kid on the Block". Homer is made a sideshow at the Frying Dutchman as a family lines up outside before entering. After the scene zooms out, it zooms back in with the same family back outside. Then we get to the scene where Barney is drinking beer from the tap at Moe's. After his heart stops, he continues drinking but his eye disappears

You know I noticed the one where Maggie changes clothes at 5 years old? I asked my mom what happened to her clothes? Lol
Explanation for number 2 (at 8:18): They reused the Homer running in the garage shot from the original opening the first season. If you look, the boxes mentioned right next to the door are in the wide shot in the season 1 intro which explains their original appearence. Also, one will notice in the interior garage shot, the hood of Marge's car is red, yet in the shot prior, it is orange. This is because in season 1, the entire car was red and was switched to orange in future season. Why "The Simpsons" animators kept that one shot in their new intro rather than reanimate in (like they did with literally every other shot) is beyond me, but they didn't and now we have nearly 20 years worth of episodes to look for the error in. "I hope someone got fired for that blunder!"
In Bart's comet when the characters were singing on the hill, there was a brief moment where apu was yellow.
Season 5 episode 8 @12:07 minutes in, Homer is seated on the couch watching itchy and scratchy with the kids and walking past the window. I think that blooper merits the top 10.
There’s a blink and miss moment in Blood Feud, when Moe passed Homer his beer it disappeared for a split second when Homer goes to grab it

The voice actor for Dr Marvin Monroe said it hurt too much to voice him. That's why he stopped appearing.
In the episode ‘Homer goes to College’, When the Professor is teaching them about a proton accelerator, his shirt changes colour after Homer finishes talking to him.
Got to be honest I would not have picked up on any of these whether I watched the show or not

I love goofs in shows, shows how that they are still made by humans who make errors and that our errors turn out to be funny.
If ever there was a show where continuity was more a suggestion than a rule, it would be The Simpsons.
Be honest: Who else really likes The Simpsons?
The one I can never unsee is when Bart is going to jump Springfield Gorge and the kids are waiting, Milhouse and Nelson both mouth the line “where is he, I thought he said noon” even though only Nelson is speaking.
What gets me is the opening. Marge drives a station wagon. But in the opening pulling into the garage it’s a sedan
Also, until midway into the 20th season, both of the Simpsons cars have the wrong backend, when entering the driveway in the intro! Marge's car has the other cars back, and Homer's car is just wrong on the back half! The first episode of season 19 didn't have this error in the intro, because it was redone after the movie for just that episode!
In the episode where Krusty gets framed by Sideshow Bob despite "Krusty's" hair being blue during the robbery Homer tells the police sketch artist that the suspect had red hair

The biggest mistakes left in… every season after 8
No Halloween special can be sited for continuity errors, the usually bring back dead characters, kill off living ones, destroy things, and etc. Those things don't even continue during the next story let alone the next episode.
In Season 1, Moe and Milhouse used to have black hair before they changed it to grey and blue.

Homer's hair loss: in one episode, it was a side effect after he volunteered for an army experiment to avoid having dinner with Marge's sisters. Later, it was because he ripped out pieces of his hair every time Marge announced she was pregnant.

What’s definitely not a continuity error and something that makes sense is there’s an episode that was released after the one where Homer gets a crayon implanted in his brain by Moe to decrease his IQ. In this episode, Homer gets another head x-Ray and when you take a good look at it, you can still see the crayon. Yep, at least that makes sense

This show's been on for 30 years. It's not odd the creators can easily forget if they don't check the archives so carefully. It's like the Pokemon anime where they keep reusing the same strategies over and over again, and even no longer remembering about certain characters and stuffs from the past, like that poor GS Ball......
Similar to the Smithers colouring there’s a bit in the Praiseland episode where manjula turns white as she’s leaving the park
Also Apu is yellow briefly in Bart's Comet

I noticed a lot of these before we even had the ability to pause and rewind stuff.

I noticed when Homer runs Into the garage Marges car is not a station wagon but just an orange version of Homers car.
I believe in that same episode where Smithers is black as Burns is looking at Homer with the binoculars there's a person in the crowd with a head the size of a small car too
