      @@drewrinker2071 you don't need to weld. You could just use the shells and clamps or fiberglass wraps, or some clamps that have shell collars and end clamps. Lots of options.

      @@g-lo-keyced-p6417 depends on your opinion of a reasonable repair. Yes this would work. But the side seams will leak so you need to also wrap it. If you can, if there's space, just buy a pipe size you can slip on to one side without cutting the pipe in half and you won't need to worry about wrapping it. Slide it on and fill the ends and clamp it/done. There are pipes you can buy to swap out the cats too. Price it out to see what's best option for your preferences.

    You already have a MIG welder..... Just weld on a new flange or pipe. I use exhaust clamps to position the pipe where I want it, tack it in, remove clamps, and weld the rest.

      @@mds6387 I disagree. That's why he only welded the side overlaps. There's the trans, front n rear cross members, wheel wells, torsion bars, links. Not possible even with a professional welder. The welder handle won't fit to accommodate even bad angle welding.

    When I did mine, I just disconnected the flange, loosened the exhaust pipe from the vehicle in the section I was working on, added high temp silicone muffler sealer to the inner race, and torqued everything back down. I haven't had any issues for about four years now and counting... And I did the job in about 45mins w/o permanently damaging my exhaust system.

      They aren't always fool proof especially if gasket is bad. We have these at work and they will leak no matter how tight you get them off the gasket need replacing

    Welder, half a tube of hi-temp rtv, a pipe you cut in half, and two U clamps. . . .
    Just cut a segment of thin wall pipe twice the length of the gap and U bolt clamp it.
    There, saved you $500 and 2 hours of wasted time.

      Lol , we actually used to fix our's back in the day this same way but with Campbell's soup cans. And your right, this works. Might not be 100 percent leak proof but it gets the job done

      Was wondering why he didn't just get a slip on and then weld it over....... $5 for a slip on connector at AutoZone and he already has a welder could have saved himself the tube of RTV, looked 100x better and laster 1000x longer. But that's just me...

      I have the chicago mig welder frim harbor frieght for 100 bucks. People say its bad, low quality. But works fine for me. Also u need double gloves and a helmet. Helmet i got it on marketplace for 20.
      Just get the harbor frieght one. U font need a fancy 1000 dollars welder.

    Used to do the same thing with an old soda or beer can just cut the ends off with tin snips and cut it long ways down the can and wrap it around the leaking area and use a couple of hose clamps Done

    I was on board with quick, cheap, easy fix until the welder came out. Why not just seal the seams with the gasket maker? This is a video for people without welders.

    lol you could have just used the piece of pipe you got a welder or you could have used a piece of pipe and two clamps or you could have used a band clamp and put it between the two pieces of pipe or you could have used a piece of flex pipe and two clamps that was just kind of weird

    That's what you call a red neck fix !!! You can go to auto zone or nappa get your self a segment exhaust pipe male female 2 flanges tight that together and voila less chance of your car catching fire cause of the silicone and best part you dont need the mig unless you want to weld the segment with the exauste and voila you saved a couple of hundred bucks and it looks a little more professional so when you go to the garage they wont have a blast laughing of you and it'll look better to !!!
