When I first saw this I was like oh ok this must be cool tip for anyone that doesn't have welder. Then you see him welding. 😂
😂😂 ...
@@drewrinker2071 you don't need to weld. You could just use the shells and clamps or fiberglass wraps, or some clamps that have shell collars and end clamps. Lots of options.
@@drewrinker2071 exhaust band clamps will work. We carry some in my Jeep club when we go offroading in remote locations for emergency use.
@@daleb5967I have a 05 Chrysler 300 and the catalytic converter is clogged up (so the mechanic says) I was wondering can I do the same thing????minus the welding part?
@@g-lo-keyced-p6417 depends on your opinion of a reasonable repair. Yes this would work. But the side seams will leak so you need to also wrap it. If you can, if there's space, just buy a pipe size you can slip on to one side without cutting the pipe in half and you won't need to worry about wrapping it. Slide it on and fill the ends and clamp it/done. There are pipes you can buy to swap out the cats too. Price it out to see what's best option for your preferences.
You already have a MIG welder..... Just weld on a new flange or pipe. I use exhaust clamps to position the pipe where I want it, tack it in, remove clamps, and weld the rest.
The straigt lines might be much easier to be welded, I guess,
Exactly. High temp silicone? Really?
Too tight on space to fully weld.....
@@daleb5967 Nahhhh. There's plenty of room to weld.
@@mds6387 I disagree. That's why he only welded the side overlaps. There's the trans, front n rear cross members, wheel wells, torsion bars, links. Not possible even with a professional welder. The welder handle won't fit to accommodate even bad angle welding.
This is some bullshit.
Ahaha
European
😂😂😂😂
soft hands, take it to the shop😂
@@Ambrose4k ?? They’re talking about this method of repair
Just get my portable mig welder out…real relatable.
Always keep one in my back pocket
They are like 200 dollars. You can work for 1.5 days making min wage and afford it. Don’t be a bum lol
You can buy a welder or you can pay someone to weld it for you without stupid clamps and silicone
When I did mine, I just disconnected the flange, loosened the exhaust pipe from the vehicle in the section I was working on, added high temp silicone muffler sealer to the inner race, and torqued everything back down. I haven't had any issues for about four years now and counting... And I did the job in about 45mins w/o permanently damaging my exhaust system.
“Easiest way to find an exhaust leak is with your fingers” thank you sir
Second degree burns incoming 😂😂
Obviously do it quickly while the car is cold lol
@@LightsaberGoBrrrrrr Woops, too late. Just paid a few thousands for the the burn treatment
😂😂😂
Please God, no.
Great! That should hold until you get to the damn muffler shop.
better than elmers and cardboard
Or just use a flange band clamp! Been using them for over 40 years!
They aren't always fool proof especially if gasket is bad. We have these at work and they will leak no matter how tight you get them off the gasket need replacing
Welder, half a tube of hi-temp rtv, a pipe you cut in half, and two U clamps. . . .
Just cut a segment of thin wall pipe twice the length of the gap and U bolt clamp it.
There, saved you $500 and 2 hours of wasted time.
You need to open your own shop Mr Knowitall.
@@drygulched8084 That's Miss Knowitall to you. And I'm just pointing out the obvious because over-complicated "repairs" like this are garbage
Lol , we actually used to fix our's back in the day this same way but with Campbell's soup cans. And your right, this works. Might not be 100 percent leak proof but it gets the job done
@@sivalleypool lol
Poop ok lol lol lol o
Was wondering why he didn't just get a slip on and then weld it over....... $5 for a slip on connector at AutoZone and he already has a welder could have saved himself the tube of RTV, looked 100x better and laster 1000x longer. But that's just me...
God damn that's the most ghetto shit I've ever seen. You can weld obviously, weld the damn thing! Silicone belongs no where near an exhaust.
Only for gaskets.
Thank you
I mean technically, the sealer was close to the ends where it would form a gasket soooo
@@VQ_menace90technically you wrong as shit.
@@TrojanLube69I was gonna say that. My y pipe that hooks to my manifold needs a little bit of copper silicone or that sucker will leak like crazy
If the silicone can seal the ends why not use it for the seam lines where you welded?
close the muffler for a couple seconds when the car is idling, and hear your nice beautiful exhaust leak!
I've never heard of or seen high temp rtv go on exhaust. That's crazy. Hell if it works it works.
Saves you thousands but you’ll have to spend hundreds on a welder😂
You should do that anyway.
this is so stupid 😂😂
A welder at harbor freight is like $80
A good mig welder on amazon is $230
Gas is cheap to lease
0.030 is like $15 a roll
(i did floor pans with it just fine)
I have the chicago mig welder frim harbor frieght for 100 bucks. People say its bad, low quality. But works fine for me. Also u need double gloves and a helmet. Helmet i got it on marketplace for 20.
Just get the harbor frieght one. U font need a fancy 1000 dollars welder.
You could have just used a premade coupler from the parts store?
Used to do the same thing with an old soda or beer can just cut the ends off with tin snips and cut it long ways down the can and wrap it around the leaking area and use a couple of hose clamps Done
Awesome but where Can I buy the two police you added from please
Genius, to go and spend all that money on silicone and clamps, when you can just weld it with your welder !
Pedro can do it better for a 24 pack of brewskis🤣🤣🤣
I’m wondering why he didn’t just use the 2 u bolts and a pice 1/6 over like a lot of people would
And if you have a welder why pour 2 rvt tube’s
2k likes for a ghetto hack job 😂
Why use silicone when you have a welder?
What a mess never do this
I was on board with quick, cheap, easy fix until the welder came out. Why not just seal the seams with the gasket maker? This is a video for people without welders.
I guess it’d get you out of a pinch but honestly flex hose would do the same
U had me till u pulled out the welder🥴
You only need the because you cut the pipe in half. So just don’t cut the pipe in half and you won’t need the welder
After you put it altogether have to leave the dry for 24 hours before start using the car again.
Got to be kidding, right?
So….. you have a welder but used silicone ?? Dude ??? Weld the entire piece back in … the right way
I would use a hose clamp instead
i think the reason he didn’t weld is so that if anything else happens to his exhaust he doesn’t have to saw all the way through again
This has to be one of them april fools joke shet
It may break over time if that's flexible connection
When are you going to address the frame rust?😮
He's trolling 🤦🏽♀️😂🤣😂🤣
Bro legit just use a good band exhaust clamp 😂this is funny
dude has a welder and uses RTV 😭😭😭
Why didnt you just weld it if you already welded it after anyway
Just weld the whole thing. Wtf
Leaked u didn't fix it if you watch close
Silicone is not going to last long there. It is not made to withstand those temperatures.
This is a warning that if you live in his area do not let him work on your car.
Know it all people coming on here to tell you how to do it in 3......2.......1.......
lol you could have just used the piece of pipe you got a welder or you could have used a piece of pipe and two clamps or you could have used a band clamp and put it between the two pieces of pipe or you could have used a piece of flex pipe and two clamps that was just kind of weird
This is the funniest thing I ever seen 😂😂😂
That's what you call a red neck fix !!! You can go to auto zone or nappa get your self a segment exhaust pipe male female 2 flanges tight that together and voila less chance of your car catching fire cause of the silicone and best part you dont need the mig unless you want to weld the segment with the exauste and voila you saved a couple of hundred bucks and it looks a little more professional so when you go to the garage they wont have a blast laughing of you and it'll look better to !!! Good luck have a good one and god bless !!!
She's fucking mint here boys!!! Holy
You probably used to work on your motorcycle and learned to put red silicone on those pipes also- and yes… years ago…
mmmm
I would just wrap sheet metal around like 1 and half times (or more) around and then band clamp
The welding will invite rust faster
Before I had a welder i would use aluminum flashing wrapped around several times with hose clamps.👌
YOU CAN WELD! Why don't you just replace that section correctly?
I’m sure this is a joke..
Or you could just go to Napa and buy the proper size band clamp and some muffler putty and fix it in 5 minutes
Yup find your exhaust leak using your finger turn to hotdogs.
Red Green would be so proud… only difference is RG was a comedy sketch lol
Gotta be Canadian
Without welding but he welds it at the end or maybe its just me lol
He should be embarrassed by that repair, but he seems proud! This must be in a southern state!
If you’re going to weld it just do it the right way
I think this guy is fucking with us.
dude spends all that time to fix the pipe when he could of just welded a the pipe in the first place...
This has to be some major trolling
Dude got a welder and did it this way...lol
Sorry but that silicone isn't going to last you'd be better off using header exhaust wrap and not even cut it out
Ex-Army Motor Pool Mech 😂😂😂
Gotta try it
No the easiest way to find an exhaust leak is with some soapy wooder.
If you own a welder this would be the dumbest way to attempt fixing keyword attempt
Shit smellin like sour cream n onion down there
How’d you know I farted?
I was like I guess if you don’t have a way to weld or money to go a shop but then he pulled out the mig and I lost it lol
I'm still trying to figure out if this is a joke. you have the mig welder out already.
Band clamp would be cheaper and better
That would cost u $20-40 at a muffler shop to fix tight
Always disconnect your battery before welding on a car 👍
Why do you have to disconnect?
@@IamAnAmerican. welder will arc the battery
So it doesn't ef up your electronic control module or any other electronics.
I have been working on cars for 16 years i weld at least once a week and have never had any problems and i never disconnect a battery
Why not just put a new one on, ffs? Much easier than overhead welding a gastight seam.
You could have just bought a piece of pipe for less than half the price. You have a welder. This is why welders shouldn't be sold at every hardware store 🤦♂️
Just put a damn soup can on it. High temp not exhaust sealant.
good thing you guys don't need to inspect your cars in the USA.
Like we do in Europe., inspection guys sees that, he laughs his ass off and then tells you to replace the exhaust system.
why not just fix it right? that silicone is a NO GO
“oh alright cool it’s a way to fix an exhaust leak if you don’t have a welding rig. gotta imagine there’s a better alternative to silicone but whatever wor-”
*busts out a mig*
“…?”
Saved enough to buy a welder
You don't even need a welder for this, just use a band clamp.
😂 you can buy a "repair flange"
No don’t do this I seen somebody try to seal leaking gas tank with that shit one time and there whole exhaust
No no no if you're in a pinch I can understand you doing this but this is not a permanent repair this is a temporary repair to get home don't listen to this guy you're exhaust will fall out that is not safe at all
Lol definitely the worst way to go. Welder is your $1000's of dollars in savings
What hack job.
Cause everyone has a weld kit laying around
Why don't you just weld a pipe on it?
Don't buy things from this guy
It's welded at the end of the video 😂😂, could have done that from start
"I got a buddy that can do it cheaper"
Im mexican, we’re ghetto AF and i would never do that! A welding shop would probably charge you 75$ to weld a new flange on there. Way cheaper than buying a welder
Shit , did Jimmy rig that up .
Awesome !
Do you have a welder and you have to why not just buy the pipe that supposed to be on there and weld it on
You do mean when you say the word "Out" is out. Not Oot?lol
Sorry! Just my crazy Canadian accent I guess.
Thanks for watching my videos!
