The statement about the bible is boring is disrespectful. Seems like you don't praise Jesus christ but atleast if you have nothing good to say. Don't say nothing at all.
My cousin who said that in Chinese didn't mean it in a disrespectful way. Translated words can sound different depending how you interpret it. She is the most devoted Christian I know and constantly spread the message about Jesus Christ to me and my family. She said that 'as a joke' to get my mom to read the bible. Seems like you jump into conclusion without even bother to understand the context.

Also, your cousin who you stated is a devoted Christian should not have said it like that. That is not a way to convince her mom to read the bible if she said the bible is boring. If you had to tell A the bible is boring A wouldn't want to read it.she needs to understand to speak with reverence when discussing things like that. Anyway, it is just my point. I fully understand that youths my age have no time for God and his words and will disrespect his teachings to suit their selfish, foolish desires.
She didn't say "the bible is boring". She said some parts can be boring. She said that because my mom needs a lot of pills to fall asleep. Thus she say that to read the bible so my mom can fall asleep peacefully. You did jump to conclusion. Because you missed out of what my mom said....
Anyway it's just a situation that I witnessed and captured on camera. I understand why some self-righteous people cannot accept jokes and will find everything offensive.
