Living here in Jersey 30 minutes from the shore, its one of the few perks to being here. The experience has made me realize just how much i love this state and the people.
Hurricane season is a time when folks stand still upon evacuation. There was a mighty hurricane that impacted Galveston early in the previous century. The pier was nonexistent. Now there are two piers near Trinity Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. I used to live in the area as a kid. Galveston never looked that dope before as the Island of Opportunity!🌴
This makes me cry simply because I live in NJ and I am only a 40 minute drive from the beach! What started with my mom taking me here with my younger siblings, to my friends and I going, to my boyfriend and I spending countless times there and calling it our beach. It's just so sad...
Just watching this makes me sad. I walked on that boardwalk as child and last summer, It will be rebuilt, but like the man said, It will never be the same.
I too am heartbroken to see this.I have so many wonderful memories of Seaside, but moved to Florida in 1987.Who would have thought that this would happen ? It will be rebuilt, but will never be the same again.
One thing I have noticed! From the roller coaster in the water to the Ferris Wheel. They don't looked damaged. They really built those rides well. If all around them is gone and they didn't fall apart. They must well engineered .
Ive been going there with my mom and stepdad since I was little, all three of my sisters have been taken there since they were babies and we were just there last July its horrible to see this knowing that your childhood or most of it was spent there it was amazing I always loved going and I one day had hoped to take my children there but now it will never be the same I will still take my children there when they fix it but it will never be the same the devistation is horrible absolutly horrible.
thanks for your reply i was born in the u.s. im not from canada, egypt, singapore, and i enjoy it here i want the best for my country my grandfather did come from italy but i didnt
I lost my aunt and uncle and their house was destroyed . . I also lost the memories of this beach :/ the last time I came here was in summer 2012 :/ I've been coming here ever since I was a baby and now I'm 14 , it will be rebuilt but I won't have the same feeling for this beach again
Man you're killing me here... In the 60s My family use to LOVE Riding on that Ferris wheel in the Back ground on your Video.. My Dad was drunk one time and almost puked on the spider... Dam!!! What's happening!!! It was there or either palisades Park Man ooo Man... Major Tears...
i knew the show "jersey shore" was a horrible omen. i've been going since I was a little girl, now 35. The show ruined the image and sandy actually ruined it. I'll always have my memories though and nobody can ruin that.
Hey Jersey Girl. I'm Patrick in Millville There is a God. Don't worry about that. Its sad that people lost their homes and i hope your power gets turned back on soon. The cycles of nature can be devastating sometimes, The beauty of the shore is intoxicating. But even in ancient times people new better then to build a home on the sand. For this exact reason. A house on the sand will be washed into the sea someday.. It may seem bad now. By next summer the shore will be beautiful again.
My gpop died and he used to always bring me there I don't want to let it go.Also I did my first loopty rollercoaster I had a lot of memories there I hate sandy
Many people lost there homes in hurricane sandy and some people lost there lives. it was terrible I live in new jersey and while sandy came I was in Florida on my vacation and when I came back sandy was over. Sandy destroyed everything in it's path my home was destroyed as well live at my grandma's. SO PLEASE MAKE A DONATION SO THE DESTRUCTION WILL BE CLEANED UP AND REPLACED. PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some will not agree with me but that which was utterly desroyed by Sandy should not be built back. I tell ya why cause the scary part about this storm is that it was barely a cat. 1. If all that property could not take a cat. 1, how much more could not take a cat. 2. We should prepare for a cat. 4 or 5 storm in the future be it next yr. or 4 yrs., its not a matter of if but when it happens again. This means some serious engineering for the vunerable NY. NJ. shore line.
Yeah, the ferris wheel survived. I always went on that when I visited seaside heights. Just still cant understand why they put such nice rides out on a wood pier when theres a big parking lot in seaside near the bayside that I never saw full. They should have had the rides there.
All this carnage is man made. do you really think man can overcome mother nature. Its just a roller coaster/ beach resort, Big deal. I believe that we with climate change and global warming should re-consider building up our coastal mega city's and be more responsible. We almost temp fate when we do this and then complain about the damage. Be responsible to your loved ones.

I used to live in NJ. Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons lives there. He becomes an empty nester when his youngest daughter Miley transfers to a university.

I too am heartbroken to see this.I have so many wonderful memories of Seaside, but moved to Florida in 1987.Who would have thought that this would happen ? It will be rebuilt, but will never be the same again.

Such sad news I feel so sorry for everyone effected by Sandy. . Michael Holmes, the Reporter is gorgeous
I grew up here, that rollercoaster was the first one I ever went on.
I lost my aunt and uncle and their house was destroyed . . I also lost the memories of this beach :/ the last time I came here was in summer 2012 :/ I've been coming here ever since I was a baby and now I'm 14 , it will be rebuilt but I won't have the same feeling for this beach again
1:25 *Correction it was the Himalaya, not the scrambler, or centrifuge ride.
I hope that they let the roller coaster stay in the water. It shows that although these were terrible times, the residents had pushed trough it.
I love Seaside Heights, I saw a lot of celeberties from N.B.T there performing. That is just sad. But we all hope it'll come back soon.
I know this sounds very conceded, but Casino Pier was absolutely my favorite place too surf. I was there 3 times at least out of the week.
I'm 9 I went to lucky. Leo's today and I'm watching ths and tearing up cause I remember going there lot
Woah.. your 20 now!!! I hope you see this and get memories from when you commented this ❤
NJ shore.. Rockaway Beach ... Coney Island NY.... unreal (:
The log flume , the Saw Mill Slices, Funtown Pier, Casino Pier, Sure it will be rebuilt but it won't be the same. What a tragic loss.
How long did they take to repair it?
Yes it is. nobody can go in seaside to get it out but hopefully everything will be back to normal soon
ive been there it was the best thing ever
Man you're killing me here... In the 60s My family use to LOVE Riding on that Ferris wheel in the Back ground on your Video.. My Dad was drunk one time and almost puked on the spider... Dam!!! What's happening!!! It was there or either palisades Park Man ooo Man... Major Tears...

Same, and I'm 25. This sucks.
What about Conney Island... Did it survive... I Came of age there...
they should leave the rollercoaster in the water. It will be there for years and people will see it and remember what it once was.
