Deku like Mirio had to work harder than anyone else to get stronger, so Deku had to earn every ounce of strength he has. So don’t consider every reason he’s strong is based off of his quirk, he calculates, strategizes, he had to put multiple months of work just to be able to get his quirk in the first place. Don’t count him out, he’ll sure to work harder then everybody else to save someone. Though I’m not saying Mirio didn’t put in the same or more amount of work Deku did.
I like how Mirio character was built, he wasn't made there to be someone for Deku to surpass, he truly was built as a character that was going to be the #1 hero, way ahead of anyone else.
He’s the opposite side of the mirror of Deku. Deku showed All Might the he could be the best hero. Even though he was born without a Quirk. Deku was given a Quirk and a mentor Mirio was born with a Quirk. And his mastery of it made him the number one student in the school, and possible number one hero of the pros. His quirk was taken from him and he lost a mentor. Both showed they were heroes even without a quirk.
