    Sir when we detect the body charged or not using cotton clothe than golden leaf diverge more and when we detect the nature of of charge body then why Golden live diverse less I know cotton clothe is negative but in first experiment why golden leaf diverge more

    • @divyarana1035

      Like charges repel, so if there are two negatively bodies, or two positively charged bodies so they will repel and thus , there on the leaves will be negative and negative and thus making it repel or diverge.

    I did not understand one thing here. At first if you put cotton near the top disc we observed divergence because of negative charge on the cotton so here divergence indicates negative charge of body but at last when you rub iron rod with cotton put it near disc, we observe convergence....Why sir ? Does cotton have no charge ?

    Is the gold leaf initially neutral ?

      You're absolutely right Mehmal, they're initially electrically neutral.

      @@science_sir thanks alot . and if we bring a positively charged rod near the electroscope it will attract electrons from the elctroscope and will leave a net positive charge on it ? If the elctroscope is at its initial stage .

    • @science_sir
      @science_sir  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If we bring a positively charged rod near the cap of the electroscope, the rod will attract electrons, thereby the density of electrons near the cap get increased and similarly the gold leaf looses electron, thereby becomes positively charged and that's the reason why the leaf diverge. But as soon as we move away the positive glass rod from the cap of the electroscope, the electrons redistributed all over the places and the whole electroscope becomes neutral and the leaf diverge immediately. Hope this will help you to understand. God bless

    Does this rely on already knowing that the cotton was negatively charged to begin with?
    If the cotton had actually been positively charged. Then wouldn't this have still have induced negative charge in the plate and a positive charge in the gold leaf and brass it's attached to, causing it to repel away?
    So how can we be sure that the cotton was negatively charged at the start?

      There are series of material (that series must be given in your text book), when two materials from that series rub against one another, the first material becomes positive and the second one (or the lower one) in the series becomes negative. Hope this will help.
