GL, you mentioned the issue of visitor noise and glad you said something to the children. A few questions: 1) Do the gorillas hear all of the visitor noise, some of it, or none of it, or do they hear it, but it’s muffled? 2) Has the zoo taken any steps (posting signage, employee monitoring) to control the level of visitor noise around the animals? You are right, silverbacks don’t like direct eye contact .. they see it as a form of aggression. You’re not supposed to stare at them. I think he turns his back towards visitors because he doesn’t like it.
