New Zealand geography would be harder for zombies to navigate than Australia's. We have lots of mountains, rivers and hills. Australia has a couple of mountain ranges and some big rivers but a lot of it -- especially where people live -- is pretty open and flat. Once the zombies get to Aussie, they'd really need to bring out the military to defend them. Whereas NZ would have a slightly better time keeping them at bay.

It's not just fences. Most houses have brick walls between the front door and the sidewalk of your street, the only entrance being usually metal gates. The zombies also wouldn't be able to climb since most houses have either eletric fences, barbed wire or sharp objects in the top of the walls. There are even images where you can see houses with homemade protection like broken glass, so I think staying inside would still be safe in Brazil. The main problem is: how would people leave to find food, water and other resources to survive, since the zombies would probably be smart enough to just wait outside? I think Brazil being in C tier is fair enough, but it could be in B too

How well do people follow government orders (like covid pandemic distance & isolation rules), how strong is the social safety system, either from family ties or government support, how important is staying/visiting/ taking care of your family instead of leaving them to die.

the coast of Brazil is extremely mountainous and the amazon basin is separated from the rest of the country by a high plateau so it is not so easy to leave the amazon for the rest of the country and the rivers in the amazon are very wide
I myself think it would be more likely for the zombie pandemic to start on the coast and spread to the countryside rather than the contrary. The coast is to populous and to dense, and I think we Brazilians would end up underestimating the problem until it got too big for us to handle.

Some interesting countries for this scenario, that you didn't mention could be: Finland, India, Norway, Indonesia, any carribian nation or territory, Mexico, Slovakia, Ethiopia, Czechia, Italy, Georgia, France, the Phillipines and Chile. You could also try to include regions like the Tibetan highlands or Patagonia
I think the fact that Alberta has been able to keep rats out of the province for 70 years should give points to Canada if they could spread those tactics to the entire country and apply it zombies
The issue with putting USA in a low tier is that half the country would be perfectly fine on their own, and cities would be protected with the national guard. Don't forget that Georgia is home of the CDC, along with a huge budget for medical research across the whole country, so if there is any sort of cure or vaccine, USA would have the best bet. The USA also has vast mountains on certain regions to slow down any hordes. It really just comes down to "behind every blade of grass", where the USA has a heavily armed civilian population that would be able to hold off even in small towns on their own.

You should have included climate as a consideration. Extreme climates would help a lot. In very cold areas (Norway, Siberia etc.) the Zombies would freeze, in very hot climates (pick a desert country) they'd dry out and crumble and in Tropical areas (The Amazon, Congo etc.) they'd probably rot very quickly. Temperate to warm countries (areas where most people live) would fair the worst due to the Zombies lasting longer.
You should do the reverse and rank which country would be the best country for the virus to start in based on inescapability, military, predicted death toll and that countries reaction to Covid
The opposite is true, that's why I think the amazon would be actually horrible for zombies, all of the mosquitos and other animals feeding off of their rotting corpses would destroy their bodies so much they become non-functional. That's the thing with Zombies. Even if they were something that could exist (which they can't because they violate the laws of thermodynamics) they'd not get very far in any outbreak. After an initial shock, the cooperative intelligence of human society would click in to contain them. Any zombies not mopped up by control squads will quickly be broken down into dust and slime by the ever-voracious biosphere. After a couple of years, pests and microbes will have rid the world of any zombie still writhing. The most destructive part of an outbreak would never be the zombies themselves, it would be the breakdown of the global economy causing mass resource shortages and famine.
I mean it also depends on what time of the year the apocalypse starts for instance if the vast majority of the outbreak happens in early spring they have God knows how many months to get across the country and while Russia is known for being cold like here in Canada I know it's Summers can get extremely hot. I mean it said that Napoleon lost at least a quarter of his men to heat stroke when he invaded Russia
A good tactic I think would work would be using loudspeakers or drones to cluster up zombie hordes and take them out with artillery, air support, and missiles since zombies are generally attracted to loud noises and aren’t smart.
Personally I'd just take one of the largest cherry pickers from work and drive along with my platform basket elevated around 9 or 10 feet above ground level. I'd have speakers if needed to play the loudest drum and bass possible and roll over the zombies as they emerged, with 360 open vision, much more than a tank, to use arms as needed.
Brazil's escarpment might help protect their coastal population centers from zombies coming through the rainforest/interior of the country but not as much as somwthing like a mountain range.
Brazilian here. I believe Brazil deserves a better ranking. While your point on defending the Amazon being difficult it is also true that, since there are no animal zombies, the zombies will also have a lot of trouble going through the forest and not being killed by animals, as well as drowning or rotting faster because of the humidity and hot temperatures. Furthermore there are a lot of elevations in the terrain which separate the rest of the country. That being said, probably the infection would start in the coast which is very dense in population. The part that probably would do better would be the northeast because of the dry biome and less population density than the rest of the coast. Also our military is extremely good at dealing with the jungle, and the special police would deal with the favelas very well as well. We are overall a very hard country to invade and totally conquer for several geographic and other reasons. Also another problem for us is the reliance on foreign trade, but we also have lots of natural resources to survive if need be.
We do know that zombies main weakness is the heat. The hotter a place is quicker the corpses decompose. So, flamethrowers and fireworks are your best friend, because the increase heat accelerates decomposition process. Maybe alongside homemade bombs and propane tanks.

I think syberia will survive for very very long time. Walking dead's zombies can't even go to our roads because they're so horrible specially while and after winter. Also on winters zombies will not come through so much snow, also in the beginning of infection we can survive in apartments with strong 2 metal doors in our entrance for a few days, so i think there will be not so much zombies in the beginning. Our winters lasts for like 5 months And our population density is low
I'm from Malta and in this situation I don't know where we would place. On one hand we are a small island full of existing fortress and walled cites with decent gun ownership. On the other hand we have one of the highest population densities, limited resources and possibly the worst army.

I would put the US in top tier, they have a tendency to not care about civilian casualties, nor their own population, they would easily come out on top. I would also give cold countries a big plus, since viruses and stuff tend to not like the cold so much.

The issue with putting USA in a low tier is that half the country would be perfectly fine on their own, and cities would be protected with the national guard.
Don't forget that Georgia is home of the CDC, along with a huge budget for medical research across the whole country, so if there is any sort of cure or vaccine, USA would have the best bet.
The USA also has vast mountains on certain regions to slow down any hordes.
It really just comes down to "behind every blade of grass", where the USA has a heavily armed civilian population that would be able to hold off even in small towns on their own.
i think gunownership and collapse of the state would be a bigger problem than the zombies tbh. just imagine all those preppers living their dream + immediate collapse of the economy (in every country)

not very accurate for Brazil, the houses are very secure and usually have walls or high fences, which would hold the zombies pretty well, besides that, if people using their brains can't enter too deep in the amazon, the zombies wouldn't have a single chance

You should have included climate as a consideration. Extreme climates would help a lot. In very cold areas (Norway, Siberia etc.) the Zombies would freeze, in very hot climates (pick a desert country) they'd dry out and crumble and in Tropical areas (The Amazon, Congo etc.) they'd probably rot very quickly. Temperate to warm countries (areas where most people live) would fair the worst due to the Zombies lasting longer.
You should do the reverse and rank which country would be the best country for the virus to start in based on inescapability, military, predicted death toll and that countries reaction to Covid

The opposite is true, that's why I think the amazon would be actually horrible for zombies, all of the mosquitos and other animals feeding off of their rotting corpses would destroy their bodies so much they become non-functional. Zombies survive very well in the cold because that sort of stuff doesn't really happen.

That's the thing with Zombies. Even if they were something that could exist (which they can't because they violate the laws of thermodynamics) they'd not get very far in any outbreak. After an initial shock, the cooperative intelligence of human society would click in to contain them. Any zombies not mopped up by control squads will quickly be broken down into dust and slime by the ever-voracious biosphere. After a couple of years, pests and microbes will have rid the world of any zombie still writhing.
The most destructive part of an outbreak would never be the zombies themselves, it would be the breakdown of the global economy causing mass resource shortages and famine.

I mean it also depends on what time of the year the apocalypse starts for instance if the vast majority of the outbreak happens in early spring they have God knows how many months to get across the country and while Russia is known for being cold like here in Canada I know it's Summers can get extremely hot. I mean it said that Napoleon lost at least a quarter of his men to heat stroke when he invaded Russia

A good tactic I think would work would be using loudspeakers or drones to cluster up zombie hordes and take them out with artillery, air support, and missiles since zombies are generally attracted to loud noises and aren’t smart.
Personally I'd just take one of the largest cherry pickers from work and drive along with my platform basket elevated around 9 or 10 feet above ground level.
I'd have speakers if needed to play the loudest drum and bass possible and roll over the zombies as they emerged, with 360 open vision, much more than a tank, to use arms as needed.

Brazilian here. I believe Brazil deserves a better ranking. While your point on defending the Amazon being difficult it is also true that, since there are no animal zombies, the zombies will also have a lot of trouble going through the forest and not being killed by animals, as well as drowning or rotting faster because of the humidity and hot temperatures. Furthermore there are a lot of elevations in the terrain which separate the rest of the country.
That being said, probably the infection would start in the coast which is very dense in population. The part that probably would do better would be the northeast because of the dry biome and less population density than the rest of the coast.
Also our military is extremely good at dealing with the jungle, and the special police would deal with the favelas very well as well. We are overall a very hard country to invade and totally conquer for several geographic and other reasons.
Also another problem for us is the reliance on foreign trade, but we also have lots of natural resources to survive if need be.
We do know that zombies main weakness is the heat. The hotter a place is quicker the corpses decompose. So, flamethrowers and fireworks are your best friend, because the increase heat accelerates decomposition process. Maybe alongside homemade bombs and propane tanks.

If there was an island nation as sanctioned as North Korea, it would be untouched by zombies under the zombie conditions in this video. Also the temperature can also be a factor, flesh decays faster in hotter climates so that also favours Australia particularly in the centre & north nearer the equator.
I doubt zombies lost in the Amazon would be able to find each other to assemble a horde, much less find a place where people live. This would only be likely if a settlement was overrun, then it would still be relatively few people and the jungle can be a fortress in itself, as well as a zombie trying to cross a river might be extremely difficult with a zombie arriving where it wants on the other side.

-the bunkers are a meme, most of them were decomissioned and sold almost 30 years ago.
-the gun ownership is misleading, most of that is people doing their military service over 15 years (they keep the weapon when at home). Said military service consists mostly of drinking beer and walking.
-the easy to defend alps are not home to most of Switzerland's population, or most of its agriculture.
-in general Switzerland is relatively poor in some key ressources like food and energy.
-the vast majority of Swiss people (including yours truly) are privileged city dwellers working in the tertiary sector. And you don't really need bankers, watch salesmen or webdesigners in the zombie apocalypse.

I could see if the zombies were in western europe germany could simply retreat to the rhine and hold their. They would be safe from the south because no way switzerland falls. In the east they have the sudentland and in poland they could hold at the vistula

I think syberia will survive for very very long time. Walking dead's zombies can't even go to our roads because they're so horrible specially while and after winter. Also on winters zombies will not come through so much snow, also in the beginning of infection we can survive in apartments with strong 2 metal doors in our entrance for a few days, so i think there will be not so much zombies in the beginning.
Our winters lasts for like 5 months
And our population density is low

I'm from Malta and in this situation I don't know where we would place. On one hand we are a small island full of existing fortress and walled cites with decent gun ownership. On the other hand we have one of the highest population densities, limited resources and possibly the worst army.

Poland would be actually amazing, even when you look back with other diseases like the black plague, Poland always find a way to repel it.
Island imports would be a problem for countries like Japan. The population is too big they’d run out of resources pretty fast. Iceland on the other hand has rich arctic waters to fish from and a low population. Would be interesting to factor in natural disasters, a place like Bangladesh with lots of flooding, that could actually help?

I think China should be A because the deserts in the west and north, and the mountains in the southwest and south. Aside from these natural barriers, most Chinese live on the coast, and zombies can’t swim to reach there. Then the mountains and deserts would hold them back for enough time for the military to deploy weapons at the zombies. In other words, China is pretty safe.
I would put the US in top tier, they have a tendency to not care about civilian casualties, nor their own population, they would easily come out on top. I would also give cold countries a big plus, since viruses and stuff tend to not like the cold so much.
