    I really do like your way of explaining flamenco issues and your sense of humor😊 It's the first time I understand the compáses structure and map. Thank you for legology!

    Amazing, Guille! It's so clear. And quite astounding how your brain has organized and compartmentalized all these various rhythmic qualities. Excellent video, as always. Thank you!

    That's a very mathematical approach, not in the calculation kind of way but with the true mathematical intent: what can we define as big classes, what things are actually the same in vast but accurate definitions, and then how do we make particular cases with each.
    I think it's the most effective approach, very well done!

    I knew it was “just a handful” from watching your other videos. Compas = rhythmic pulse (in this context). I watched this video twice and it’s so interesting! Just from *feeling* the very pure pulses and as a novice I group it in 4 - the most basic is 6 count (fandangos like a waltz) then the four-count tangos adds a pause, then the 12-counts, more complex- the solea/alegrias, and bulerias. I put seguiriyas on it’s own due to starting point and it feels very different then the other 12-counts maybe because doesn’t accent 3 and 10? I’m memorizing the 9 types and the legos. Thank you for your wonderful videos. 👏

      Thanks Audrey! 🙏 Yes siguiriya feels very different! The articulation and dynamics of tension>resolution is unique and it makes it a fascinating compás 🤩😉

    In the discussion of 12-beat compáses at 13:55, we could imagine a pattern starting on 6.
    It's three yellow followed by two pink (like siguiríya), but with the accent at the start of the lego block instead of the end.
    Alternatively, it's guajira starting with yellow instead of pink.
    Is that pattern ever used in flamenco ?

    • @FlamencoMAPS
      @FlamencoMAPS  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t think the pattern you’re describing corresponds to any specific compás type. It could resemble a very fast version of siguiriya, where the tempo creates a shift towards a 1234-5 feel. Alternatively, it might resemble an inverted bulería pattern, but it would only be the result from combining two medio compases (a yellow one and a pink one) and would not work as a recurring pattern.
      I hope it makes sense 😅
