Paddle out reminds me of getting out in Lake Michigan on a gale force storm, maybe only topping out 10' but a lot of water moving. All energy wasted, followed by getting cleaned up all the way back in.. that barrel looked psychotic! Maybe greatest POV risk vs reward video to date. Every second Worth It!

Boss level cardiovascular and stamina. That looks so scary...felt myself needing to catch my breath as I watched this. It was interesting seeing you use the Technique that you described in a previous video... as you flip over and bear hug your board and then pop up ...that is until it got to the point where you couldn't do that anymore...then it got really exhausting.

A lot of people who might watch this wont understand how well conditioned you need to be to do this, and also completely at peace and comfortable with the environment you are in.
The laughs and jibes in the paddle out are epic while getting pounded, and just shows the guys comfortable in the space they are in. 99+ % of the global population would just panic and drown. Thx.

Wow.. I've done many sports over my lifetime.. Skated, snowboarded in the early days of the sport. Ski both water and snow.. pretty active guy over 55 years. Only surfed a couple times which definitely means 'i don't surf'. But being a California guy and loving watching videos of people who do extremely technical things well.. throw danger in there and I'm a fan. Love watching you guys surf these heavy waves. I've just stumbled onto this channel yesterday and I gotta tell you this is some really compelling stuff. These paddle outs.. especially with the split screen in the corner really add to the drama and effort you guys put in to catching these things. Great idea giving the paddle outs a piece of the lime light. I don't surf but I know the ocean and that shit is epic. Then the up shots of big blue trying to fold you in... F'ing amazing. I watch a lot of surf channels.. You guys are putting up videos that are next level as to putting the viewer (there). Again that's coming from a non surfer. Your water and work footage is so compelling I forget there's world class surfing taking place.
"Hey 'Van's.. give this guy whatever he wants.. This Is top shelf entertainment.. More than just a surfer video.

Risk equals reward! What an epic paddle out. Great that you don't go into panic mode at any stage, no matter how many you cop on the head. Excellent content and reassuring that every surfer cops a flogging (different size and conditions of course) no matter how proficient they are. Cheers

This has to be the one of the best views from inside a wave I've seen. Average surfer, athlete, swimmer, etc would've gave up and went in after the 20th hold down.

Your laughter is me crying for mummy . .Zoard doing another great job of editing. I don't care how many world championships someone has won, if they dont do this type of surfing then they are not worthy of it. Big wave surfing and the way you guys are progressing it leaves 99% of small wave contests for dead.

Days like that are great for keeping in paddle shape at least. Especially when your living the dream like you are, living in paradise with perfect waves in the winter and traveling the world to catch dream swells when they’re forecasted. Keep it up buddy. Your always happy spirit always keeps me motivated for my 1 trip every couple years. San Diego can get good and are nearby but our Channel Islands take away the raw swell power so it’s not the same as Hawaii, central Mexico, Nicaragua etc. . .

Wow , full beast mode, to get out . Then all the glory of a good wave. This shows that the new water men of 2020 can overcome what people thought could be possible. Full respect, glad to see there was a Ski out there to save people if needed.
